I'm off to see a piano tomorrow - friend of a friend needs a new home for it, so other than transport, free.... I'd love to learn again, only to be able to play honky tonk or shanties - nothing more sophisticated.

What do people think about a kick off time?
I thought if we got together at mine, earlyish, say 6.30 maybe? With a view to staggering round the corner 8.00ish it would be easy for people who need to catch trains tubes home etc not too late. I'm easy though and can fit in with what suits. Will need to firm the table booking on Friday, so a roll call of definite attendees would be helpful...

I got an email from PALS who said they are going to get someone to call me. My mother said she got her diagnosis in a letter, with the name and direct number of a doctor to call if she wanted to speak to someone, and an appointment at the John Radcliffe the following week. I am at the doctors' surgery to get my ears syringed on Friday; I will ask then if there is anyone who can speak to me.

I laughed at my mother's response too. It was just so typical.

Hattie - a sherry schooner is an extra large glass. A double, I guess.

The hot water cylinder is all done, and all plumbing is functioning as it should; there was a slight panic when the plumber noticed that the cold water tank in the loft was effectively balancing on a couple of toothpicks and a drawing pin, so we had to ask the fencing guy for a couple of old fence posts and do a bit of remedial carpentry half way through the day.

The fencing guy we nicknamed Fungus because he was moving so blooming slowly; he is coming back tomorrow and still has loads to do.

Anyway, must attend to knackered DH who has just got home from a day trip to Germany (he left the house at 4am).

Sloe gin and other fruit liqueurs go very well with prosecco I have found. Not so sure about sherry - unless it was a reasonably sweet one perhaps?

Meet up sounds fun - I hope to hear all about it afterwards. Love the idea of a sherry cocktail; could be interesting.

Off to dental hospital again today, followed by the dreaded eye test at Boot's. Hoping to get the bus into town, but a bit concerned that my back will play up.

I did think it, but didn't actually SAY it. I've had some pretty wild experiences with champagne cocktails, and wouldn't want to inflict my CC self on any crepeys!
