Thanks, BTM , I am afraid your friends are quite right. Any time I go to the Gp they give me something else - last time it was a pneumonia jab! Then there was the occasion when they offered me an MOT to tell me what chance I had of living through the next ten years! (Quite good, actually). Our NHS here is good in that they are always at the forefront of all new tests, so, for example, DH has had tests for prostate cancer and aneurysms before they started rolling them out across the country. (Interestingly enough the middle class has a greater chance of prostate cancer). On the other hand it's difficult to get an appointment with the gp!

Prosecco and sherry cocktail Shock? I would be sick in my lurex handbag. QQ - could you pm me too, please? Looks hopeful that I will be able to come.

Did school quiz last night, the teachers won (mainly due to ultra competitive games teacher who ignored the other teachers' pleas to get some wrong). We got harshed last time our team set the questions for being too erudite (I did an excellent round about civil unrest in London which was a bit much for the naice audience who has never protested against anything in their lives) so this time we did a lot of pop culture stuff with identify the alien and so on. We did put in a round of good kids' literature questions though, which stumped a few folk.

Right, need to grapple with some contracts, have a good day all.

I have dear little man coming back to tweak the piano tuning again. I have got in stock of biscuits.

And I have an ACTUAL S&B QUESTION. What with it being a bit warmer, and what with me despairing of my legs and their appearance in trousers, my mind is turning to skirts. But, natch, with black opaque tights. But what to wear on the feet? Boots now seem a bit wintry, converse (as seen on the gamine) a bit try-hard, and ballet flats won't accommodate my orthotics. Are brogues the way forward, or would I look more 'lesbian council worker' than 'stylish media type'?

QueenQueenie · 20/03/2014 10:06

Ooooh brogues are the way to go...

I have my eye on these but plan to wear them with bare legs.

herbaceous · 20/03/2014 10:11

I rather like these, but fear they won't really go with tights. I can only really buy one pair of shoes, if that, after DP's decree that I don't earn Enough Money.

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 11:09

I like those in the black patent too...and also the barefoot ones, I must say. I love a brogue, moi.

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 11:11

faints with delight

addle · 20/03/2014 11:12

v nice. brogues or loafers imo, as long as you avoid old-lady loafers

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2014 11:14

I have some lovely brogues with a Monks Strap - I wear them with thick woolly socks, but woolly tights would look OK. Or maybe the right shade of opaque?

herbaceous · 20/03/2014 11:26

I liked Clarks's Hamble Oak last season brogues with leopard print. Natch, they were in the sale and I didn't buy them and now they've disappeared.

But, on a slightly more crazy tip, these are pretty groovesome.

Blackduck · 20/03/2014 11:52

Herbs I luvre that last pair.......

MI - anything shiny hey Wink

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 12:06

I love metallic shoes. I do already have a pair of silver brogues Blush

herbaceous · 20/03/2014 12:06

Oooh. Blue

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 12:07

Actually I also have a pair of v light-weight silver brogues/summer shoes - a bit like tap shoes, bought in Boden kids sale; and silver sandals (ahem ditto) and silver Conversalike...

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 12:10

But I don't have these yet

herbaceous · 20/03/2014 12:16

Ooh I like those! And a mere £40!

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 12:48

Have heard from MrsS - BIG PHEW. Will leave details to her, but is not big and/or serious Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Blackduck · 20/03/2014 12:53

Oh MI that is fab news!!

MrsS :) :)

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2014 13:12

GreatSmile

I am now thinking that perhaps I need another pair of brogues. Damn you CrepeysGrin

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2014 13:39

I don't like brogues with skirts. I have big, wide feet, and greatly fear the lesbian council worker look. I also have bobbly, knobbly old knees which aren't improved by flat shoes.

My skirt-wearing tends to be confined to work-days, so I wear heeled courts or boots. Or sandals. Opaques until it is warm enough to go without (on the cusp right now...).

In fact, I'm not keen on brogues at all, but I am contemplating some sort of canvas shoe (Superga or skate shoes) to wear with skinnies in the summer. Knees safely undercover.

lalsy · 20/03/2014 13:50

I have just returned form a morning skiving off shopping. Twas a nightmare. I tried on bras and got all the stupid little hangers attached to different bits of me and each other, nearly had to ring the bell in John Lewis for emergency assistance. Felt like complete buffoon. Then accidentally bought a bra I don't think I had even tried on and had to take it back. I am very grumpy now.

But delighted about Mrs S Smile.

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 13:56

Lalsy, if you are ahem a G cup or more, the bra shop near me in Forest Hill is v good.

lalsy · 20/03/2014 13:58

I am in what appears to be a very complicated process of finding out, MI - what is the shop called?

motherinferior · 20/03/2014 14:02

It's [http://www.thefittingstudio.co.uk/studio.php here]

I am writing up a conference. Which is being held tomorrow. Ahem.
