hattymattie · 27/03/2014 17:32

Drat MI - I've got 4 pairs in the basket.

bigTillyMint · 27/03/2014 17:33

Hatty, at least he would notice!

hattymattie · 27/03/2014 17:41

Am with wondering if I want to encourage "inappropriate optimism".GrinGrin

hattymattie · 27/03/2014 17:44

Not sure where second smiley came from - I really cannot manage the tablet - much prefer a proper keyboard with buttons..

QueenQueenie · 27/03/2014 18:16

Ok my lovelys.
Have many bottles prosecco in fridge
a bottle of very naice sherry
some salty snacks
booked restaurant
tidied up

I thought if we said kick off at 6.30 onwards at my place?
Table round the corner is booked for 8.15...
I have agreed with the lovely restaurant owner that she'll provide us with a feast for £20 a head - a good mix of veggie / meat / fish so I really hope that is OK with you all and means they can look after us a bit better with the preplanning.

Am feeling quite excited and a bit trepidacious (?) and rather responsible for you all enjoying yourselves...

Does everyone who's able to come now have directions?
Is there anything else I need to think about / organise?

Stropps, very sad you can't be with us. Herbs and Crem, delighted you can make it in the face of adversity.

Not sure about the photographic evidence idea Shock

What is the general view on dress code? Is it to be "mutton dressed as metal" or come as you please? Am afraid of frightening the neighbours and of my teenagers pointing and laughing

'Til tomorrow then!

herbaceous · 27/03/2014 18:27

All of that is totes ideal for me, QQ. Let's do 'mutton as metal'. Let's. Do.

Good to see you WAF. Stay, and pull up a chair.

QueenQueenie · 27/03/2014 18:29

Come tomorrow if you're free!

addle · 27/03/2014 18:36

QQ that sounds absolutely fab, thank you! Am off to inspect wardrobe before volunteer opinion on dress code.

motherinferior · 27/03/2014 18:37

Am sniggering at the thought of the Crepey Pants. I am v tempted by a pair too...

addle · 27/03/2014 18:54

dress code of crepey pants going too far, i feel

lalsy · 27/03/2014 19:28

Have a wonderful time, crepeys.

Are the crepey pants the lacey black ones you linked to MI? I'd go for them, and take my chances with Inappropriate Optimism if necessary.

Stropperella · 27/03/2014 19:43

I have many pairs of large but see-through pants.

Yo WAF, how are you doing? Re: chickens - the only advice I can give is not to get them expecting anyone to help out and be prepared to get up early for the rest of forever to let them out of a morning. Well, unless you get one of those fancy timed door-openers.
No one in my family pays any attention to the chickens at all. The dcs amble down there occasionally to talk to them and also to pretend to their friends that they look after them. Dh takes no interest or responsibility whatsoever (in fairness he did say this would be the case in advance). It is a pain in the bum when I go away to a crepey do and have to ring him up to remind him to lock the chickens up/ let them out etc. And yes, they do need looking after when you go away. Which is a bit problematic for us. Also, chickens completely trash your garden. I've got quite a lot of space, so I don't mind that they've stripped half of it and pooed all over it. We've still got the civilized chook-free zone for the rest of us.

When all is said and done, I am very fond of my girls and they think I am the Great and Good Food Lady. Grin And I like to wander down to commune with them during coffee breaks (just have to remember to wear the special chicken poo clogs). I'm grateful to Beachy for encouraging me to get them. :)

bigTillyMint · 27/03/2014 20:11

QQ that all sounds absolutely spiffing - can't wait! And I am definitely up for Mutton as MetalGrin

Talking of which, who is doing the next thread title?!

Sorry nowt shiny here - have looked - so I may be a tad out of place, but looking forward to it!!
Stropps :( you won't be there.
Nice knickers MI - just my type.

herbaceous · 27/03/2014 21:00

Perhaps the new thread should be called 'mutton as metal'.

Come on crepeys - where's the gold skirt solidarity?

DP back from his parents mum's, having organised the funeral. We both keep bursting into tears. Not helped by watching even faintly emotional programmes, such as The Hoarder Next Door.

wilbur · 27/03/2014 21:23

I have my lurex sweater out ready, so I'm coming metalled up no matter what, schooner at the ready. I will be there around 7pm, I hope, depending on the bus to Brixton tube.

Re stretchy big pants - alongside the onesie, Father Christmas also bought me a 3 pack of these in fun neon colours (they don't seem to be on the website). They are not cotton, but have cotton where it's required, and are very comfy once you cut the ridiculous Gap label out of them which is almost the same size as the pants.

herbaceous · 27/03/2014 22:17

Wilbur, they're RUDE.

cremolafoam · 27/03/2014 22:48

Yay QQ you are amazing! Very well prepared for the metallic onslaught .thanks so much for sorting the food - genius!
I am nicely installed in Bils Monday - Thursday cupboard pad near sadlers wells. Dsis would have a canary if she knew how spartan it wasGrin
I have done my little evening class at with Mr Alain De Botton. Fascinating stuff but mind- melting.

CointreauVersial · 27/03/2014 23:07

Off to do my nails in bed - a metallic colour, possibly?

Blackduck · 28/03/2014 06:00

Ohh Cremo must tell me all about Alain today...

bigTillyMint · 28/03/2014 06:32

Cremo, that is soooo handy for QQ's - practically neighbours!

CV, are you planning to wear sandals?!

beachyhead · 28/03/2014 07:52

I typed a long chicken post last night and it seems to have gawn! Anyway, I second all Stropps has said about chickens. In a London garden, I wouldn't be tempted by more than two, I don't think, otherwise the general destruction could be a nightmare. Yes, I think they are more work than a cat, as you have to let them in at night and out in the morning, although it's not a highly skilled job, so you could get a local teen in to do it.

Guess who had to assemble ingredients for a home economics pizza this morning??

I'm off to rummage for my jacket.

My friend has just texted. His tumour is aggressive and untreatable, though they will give him chemo.

Fuck cancer.
