bigTillyMint · 10/03/2014 20:35

I did see a post from Auriga on FB about a week ago, so maybe she has just lost us?

I've got mountains in the background of my cover photoSmile

QQ could you PM me your address so I can think about getting to/from yours?

lalsy · 10/03/2014 20:41

Hatty, I thought you were someone else entirely! But clocked you and your mountain now. And from someone else - was that you BTM?

bigTillyMint · 10/03/2014 20:42

Yes, if I was infront of the mountain with friends and family (rather than up it!)

lalsy · 10/03/2014 20:43

BTM, sorry, had missed your post - it was you then (but I thought your real name was something else, which now appears to be shared with another crepey....oh lordy I am a bit muddled)

Great, hello you all, think I know who is who now.

CointreauVersial · 10/03/2014 22:03

And I'm the other one who isn't on FB. Wink

Stropperella · 10/03/2014 22:12

Found you, lalsy :) Yes, Auriga, where are you? I know things were a bit grim. Hope you are ok.

I'm so knackered, I'm slumped in bed. Dd is waving a letter about "prom". Gah, why can't they just have a leavers' disco down the local bowling alley like we did, eh?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 10/03/2014 22:34

Yes, where is Auriga? And what happened to Dukes, Pirate and MaybeBentley?

Lalsy - I'm the orange dog in sunglasses...

QQ - can you PM me details please?! Ta

Auriga · 11/03/2014 07:16

Morning, I'm here. Preoccupied with non-Mumsnettable problems, surfacing to sing when possible. Will catch up with you when I can. Sorry I can't make 28th, would have liked to see you all in shiny skirts. DH and DD are fine, btw.

Auriga · 11/03/2014 07:18

And I'm the thistle on FB

bigTillyMint · 11/03/2014 07:19

Good to see you Auriga, sorry RL is getting in the way.

Stropps, she will need a prom dress and a fancy schmancy limo How exciting!Wink

Stropperella · 11/03/2014 12:36

Anyone got any recommendations about how to even start looking for a prom dress when a) the 15 year old in question hasn't worn a dress since she was about 8 and isn't hugely confident and b) you live in the sticks. I have no clue what she would like to wear and neither does she. She has already asked me to book her a hair appointment to sort out her "do". The prom is in July..

In case anyone has any dress ideas: she is an hour-glass figure size 8, very fair skin, blond curly hair. Wears a lot of black but doesn't look very good in it, imo.

Stropperella · 11/03/2014 12:37

Auriga, I hope things improve for you soon.

cremolafoam · 11/03/2014 12:40

Start with charity shop Stropps - you may have to ask for their prom/ formal dresses but I'll bet they have something in a size 8.
Failing that boohoo have some in small sizes that are trendy and inexpensive.
Can you coax her out of black into navy blue or purple?

cremolafoam · 11/03/2014 12:49

short prom 25 quid

Stropperella · 11/03/2014 13:14

Oooh, yes, Crem, thank you. That's a good site, I will get dd to look at it this evening and see what sort of things she is interested in. I don't even know what sort of bra you would wear with some of those dresses. This kind of thing has absolutely never been in my skill set.

I don't think we have the sort of charity shops round here that would have any prom dresses. They are full of dead old people's clothes. And bric-a-brac. Everyone flogs their prom dresses on ebay, I think.

lalsy · 11/03/2014 13:16

Stropps, we got dd's in a charity shop in slightly posh area, where a lot of these dresses seem to end up - she hadn't worn a dress since she was about three and getting her into it on the night involved a hot glue gun......dd is also very fair and ended up with plain lacey black M and S one for 14.99 - she blended in just fine and felt OK in it (I agree about you about black).

Auriga, sorry to hear that.

motherinferior · 11/03/2014 14:00

Stropps, I'm sure between now and July one of us will lay our sticky paws on something suitable. Speaking as a charity shop addict.
