Sorry Novice xxxx

LinusDKD · 03/03/2014 15:20

What kind of short waisted jacket?

For work? Casual? Going out? Colour?

BrandyAlexander · 03/03/2014 15:27

Black. I want to be able to throw it on over dresses if I am feeling cold at work. I have a fab one from Zara (had it years) but whenever it goes to the dry cleaners i am lost. I bought one from Amarni which I loved but it didn't last Shock so I am loathe to spend shed loads on one. I am 5'2". okay 5'1" so can't do long line as they drown me.

Anni, no worries! I do think that because we discussed with Chanelgate off board, it doesn't make sense to anyone why we have all gone from being open to more secretive. People don't know that some people left the thread and others wanted to because it didn't feel like such a "safe" place anymore. Although tbh it was a good reminder that it's the internet it's never "safe"!!

Turquoiseblue · 03/03/2014 15:37

Ha ah shop - yes the climbing wall s with the dc too- but actual climbing too, tire em out and helps co ordination and I can MNV
Thank for the little girls tips, I do the same big next / boden order every so often, but she s running low, keeps growing out of stuff in literally weeks! I can't keep up. And YY queen -older girl stuff is difficult seems so mini adult or way too cutsie.

Hope everyone stays and we can all stay posting on the tread.

Mig good luck on your trip
Lovely frames Bonsoir

LinusDKD · 03/03/2014 15:45

I have a great one from Theory novice I used to wear to the office but haven't worn since being a SAHM. Might see if I can find it later.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/03/2014 15:50

Good news, my-wardrobe are giving me a refund for the trousers. They want them back though, which is mildly irritating - it's not like they're going to be able to sell them so they'll just go to waste. I sort of understand but I did send them the pictures so they can see how bad it is. But yes, happy with their CS!

novice I have no idea how you would tell if a jacket was short waisted or not on the internet. How about a specifically petite style - J crew here (you didn't say blazer but I am picturing a blazer!)

I have just found some potentially perfect (aside from not being tan) flats at Clarks of all places: here. I don't suppose anyone has a code?!

santamarianovella · 03/03/2014 15:56

When i left this morning you were all discussing the oscarsSad

Ok back to Leo, back to leo, marsha I think he didnt attend the oscars the year he made titanic because he was not nominated, and I think he said something along the lines of it being on purpose. My aunt saw him a couple of years ago,in south of France, with with Naomi Campbell ex boyfriend the Russian guy,she was not impressed by how he looked overweight ,and a bit old,but I refuse to believe that,he looked like a 20 year old in wolf of Wall Street!

decam gorgeous boots!

bonsoir I have a pair of frame denim le garçon ,love them,I'm also loving CE traveller boyfriends, they are lighter, more like chambray fabric.

blair that's good news,I think they might complain to brand, and probably send your faulty jeans. As proof.
I will be clutching linus and umlauf hands and join them in the land of little duties later this year, I can't believe how things are so much cheaper to import to mainland Europe.

Turquoiseblue · 03/03/2014 15:56

pinko black jacket - too long though?

[[http://www.the-editeur.com/Day-Birger-et-Mikkelsen/Clothing/Jackets/Day-Birger-et-Mikkelsen-Patiche-Blazer/7203/ day birger] possibly too embellished

For novice

Stokey · 03/03/2014 16:01

Walked past Fenwicks at lunch & half the mannequins in the windows were wearing New Balance trainers - so you clever MNVers are all bang on trend

( and Louis Vuitton had some lovely bags out but didn't dare go in)

Mignonette · 03/03/2014 16:08

Wot Novice said.

Speaking personally I don't name change so when I have lost my temper on other boards, I have to live and die by the rep that has given me even when I knew we were dealing with a V clever little Norwegian folk hero.

This means that I got posts and PMs telling me that some MNers 'feel let down by me' which I am in turns perplexed and amused by - the idea that you can feel let down by somebody you have never met and who you do not know.

I have come to realise that for some people, you are seen as a two dimensional creature and they will only tolerate a narrow range of human behaviours from you as a result and that you are seen as either 'nice' or 'nasty'. Trying to see a MNer as a very human combo of the two clearly caused some folks heads to explode Smile

MNV is an illusionary refuge but Pin is a real one, one we have to be guarded about because of the personal and identifying content. I would be very uncomfortable with the idea of more people using it at present because of this.

I did post a few threads back that I thought it might be advisable for us to not keep referring to it in case it looked like we were excluding.

Decameron · 03/03/2014 16:11

Blair, glad you got your money back. My-W probably need the jeans to return them to the manufacturer. I don't have a code for Clarks but lovely shoes.

Novice, have you checked Jaeger or Iro for jackets?

The boots are on their way back to NAP. Suede and mucky playgrounds don't mix well. :( Next year next year. Quite like these but haven't heard of the brand before. Not navy or grey, I realise!

Cool trainers, Bonsoir.

Mignonette · 03/03/2014 16:12

Love the pink Phillipe Modals but I have such big feet that I cannot really wear trainers and the wedge heeled Marant style look bloody hideosity on me.

There were some remarkable Marant tributes knock offs in Monsoon today. I know, I know- Monsoon. So shoot me. The printed padded Indian style Marant Jackets were reworked in woven wool in China Blues, deep reds and creams. They also had some gorgeous woolly knitted jackets in ice cream shades. I swiftly ran past Joules in case a padded pink husky came out and mugged me

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/03/2014 16:26

mig Le Catch often uses Monsoon jackets in her outfit pictorials. They do do some pretty ones but often they are very boxy which doesn't work for me.

santa and Decam you're right, my-w will want to claim their costs back from J Brand I guess. I am gutted to lose my lovely trousers but will just have to buy some boyfriends instead. Wink

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 16:33

We dropped by the French children's shoe emporium Six Pieds Trois Pouces on the way home and got DD a pair of gold distressed leather sneakers... she just needs some boyfriend jeans now Smile

Bonsoir · 03/03/2014 16:34

Mignonette - I'm not able to wear wedge-heeled trainers either. Some of my friends look great in theirs though.

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 16:36

They sell Lola Cruz at the Dressing Room Decam very comfy I'm told. Those boots were beautiful - shame they had to go :(
humph
I'm off to hunt for jackets for you.

Blimey, I have a few days off and look what happens?

I think the thing the Chanel thread proved was that there are a lot of lurkers, most of whom are lovely (I got some very nice PMs) and some who aren't so lovely and seem to keep tabs on my life story. Now I really don't bother with anonymity on here - when you have a blog there is scat point, but a lot of us would prefer that which is entirely understandable. Before this thread existed, indeed how this thread came into existence, a long standing S&B thread broke down as quite a few of us were having our privacy breached. We were (and are) just such good friends that we forgot we were posting on a public forum and as a result overshared. This led to all sorts of issues for those women and in the end we took it off MN, after a brief attempt at keeping it on this thread. Some lovely ladies such as shop and dry joined this thread and so a whole new group was born which was great. However, a thread like this can never work without a private forum to share things you don't want plastered over the internet. I think it's totally fair for the pin board to stay private and for people to be added as and when we get to know new posters better. However I do agree that maybe we could be a bit more circumspect around its usage and not do the 'usual place' thing so much.

Anyway, fierce and love and all that shiz Olivia says to me when I get a bit gobby.

shop I have a couple of Zoe K sweaters and they aren't very thick but they are very comfy and surprisingly warm.

novice I love my Me&Em dresses too - they are so comfy.

Loving some of the new Hush stuff. Think I will put an order in this week. Haven't bought anything except running gear since Umlauf's leather shorts!

AmberNectarine · 03/03/2014 16:45

mig those clarks sandals are on my wishlist too - fab!!

BrandyAlexander · 03/03/2014 16:48

Oh that J crew one might be it!!!!!! It looks perfect. I am probably being really thick but what's a puff sleve?

The pinko looks great for smart casual but 500? Shock

Speaking of bosoms.....I am beyond gutted. My flash sale bargain underwear from Figleaves arrived and I think I have changed sizes. I am weeping at the thought of trying to find 28F bras. Hmm I am hoping this is a mid cycle change of some sort. :(

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 16:50

Thanks for the ZK feedback Amber I thought that would be the case - shame. Need a new sweatshirt or two since I hit bleach on my A&W peacock one.

OP posts:
Umlauf · 03/03/2014 16:53

mig and amber I love those sandals! Did you see the frugality in hers? They are on my wish list but I want to buy them in the uk as Clark's is very pricey here. Otoh... J crew, yes linus much cheaper! still more so than in the US, but it's 15 euro postage so only worthwhile for larger items I think? I would be happy to forward something on to anyone though!

shopafrolic · 03/03/2014 16:54

Puff sleeves are where the fabric is ruched around the shoulders, usually the top of the sleeve will be higher than the shoulder seam

BrandyAlexander · 03/03/2014 16:55

Oooh I love those Karen Millen ones. Don't normally do peplum because then it would draw attention to my arse!

That Reiss is lovely too, looks just like the Pinko one (I really fancy the idea of being really edgy like that but wouldn't go with my work dresses and would have no where to wear it too).
