It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

anni Grin at your ds. Do you think he was purposely lying though or lying because he was horrendously embarrassed at what he'd done? I'd be tempted not to punish as he didn't harm anyone and I guess he was doing it as a science experiment of sorts.

marsha definitely lanvin. Did you get your hair done and was it worth the extra cash?

MarshaBrady · 28/02/2014 22:14

QueenC I did and I'm not sure it's any different to the cheaper version. I'm glad I got it done as I don't have as much time next week, but will probably go back to the other stylist. I liked her more anyway.

I was wondering, a general question, do you go to the hairdressers do you ask what they think would suit you or do you always know what you want?

shopafrolic · 28/02/2014 22:24

My hairdresser tells me what I'm having but I trust him implicitly.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/02/2014 22:27

I never ask what would suit me, because I always go to chain hairdressers and I never get the impression that they have that level of skill. I'm too afraid to pay more for someone who "knows what will suit me" in case it's wrong. In any case I just have it all one length currently (and pay £60 for the privilege).

I need to get a hairdresser recommendation!!

Drywhiteplease · 28/02/2014 22:44

I always say what I want but wish I had the guts to trust someone like Shop does, it keeps it current if you let your hairdresser do what they think.

OneLittleLady · 28/02/2014 22:47

I give the hairdresser an idea of what I want and then let them work around that. I'm not very adventurous with my hair though so it's never drastic

SecretSquirrel13 · 01/03/2014 06:57

Morning all am up with the dc and its going to be a long day. I managed to get through feb without buying anything but have been tempted a lot and even been to a major city centre on a shopping trip. If I could have bought anything last month it would have been the gap 1969 jeggings that decam has, the pink zatchels bag that Anni has and a me+em layering top which has now sold out. Dh has told me that if I get through march without buying anything I may be 'eligible' for something I've wanted for ages for our anniversary. I think I can do itGrin

Annianni · 01/03/2014 07:38

Sam Edelman on Brand alley today, petty boots are £55.
Lots of bargains...

Annianni · 01/03/2014 07:44

My hairdresser is lovely but a wuss
I wanted 12 inches cut off when Ds2 was a baby and she wouldn't do it!?
She took 8 off, saying that she'd take more off later... Ds2 then woke up (he was with me) so I never got what I wanted... And there was no way I was going the week after, and paying again Angry
still annoyed about it 18 months later

Annianni · 01/03/2014 07:49

I've had hairdressers in the past, who I've trusted and just let them do what they wanted.

I had a talk to Ds1 last night, made him look in the mirror at the mess he's made.
I've asked him nicely not to do it again... So we shall see...

I did say that if he wanted some hair to look at, I would have happily given him some of mine, Ds2's and we could have cut some of Ds1's (just from the back)
So hopefully that'll get through to him :o

BrandyAlexander · 01/03/2014 08:23

Morning all! Dc2 was up in the night insisting on climbing into my bed as he had a temperature. Has been breathing his lurgies on me all night. Sad I am now sneezing.Hmm

So my S&B tally for Feb was £70 of underwear from the Figleaves flash sale and £30 on the two Boden slipper boots. No beauty stuff. After the mad January sales splurge, I thought i better calm down.

I really really want a black short waist jacket. I have 2. One is Zara that cost me about £30 10 years ago, which I wear all the time. The other is Armani which cost about £650 a year ago and fell apart in 6 months. Angry I only want one to replace the Zara one when it's at the dry cleaners. If I could find something that cost £30 again that would be perfect. Sigh.

Hello all.

Anni I know cutting his hair isn't great but what a clever idea to look at it under the microscope. A budding scientist.
Secret are the gap jeans you are thinking of the Gap "legging" jean? If so, these are the ones I bought last week. A lovely fit and really flattering .....I hope Hmm. And not spending starts to become a habit really....so worth it when you can get something nice at the end.
Novice hope you feel better soon.

Right. My wish list for spring:

Red shorts Confused from Boden waiting for decent code
Couple of really nice dresses in cotton for hot holiday Greece
Animal print flats, will try R and B and AndOtherStories

Don't need much

BrandyAlexander · 01/03/2014 09:43

Dh told me last night that we are out at a wedding reception tonight. Hmm. So by 6pm tonight I need to have put together an outfit for a winter wedding. I may be a widow by 7pm....!

He's exhausted and sleeping and dcs are refusing to get washed, we are normally out of here by 9.15am Hmm.

shopafrolic · 01/03/2014 09:54

Oh blimey Novice what are you going to wear?

OP posts:
BrandyAlexander · 01/03/2014 10:11

Right I have just looked. I am thinking Hobbs Maze dress in Garnet. It's on my going out clothes pin board. Would that work? Never worn so looking for an occasion to wear it!

I could also do the black lace dress by Phase 8?

I also have many wedding outfit dresses by Coast but they are usually strapless. I am thinking black and white or sky blue.

SecretSquirrel13 · 01/03/2014 10:57

I like this kind of dilemma, what kind of evening reception is it, ie country house, trendy bar, hotel, village hall etc? as that would influence it.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 01/03/2014 11:20

I'm not much good for any dilemmas at the moment, I am still swooning over Marsha's Lanvin dress, which is quite possibly the most beautiful thing ever.

Anni DD2 did that last year - long, one-length hair and she decided to chop in a 'fringe' (ie lift a chunk of hair reasonably near the front and chop it off). Shock She looked like Mr Mageika.

DH just called from the horsebox as he remembered that there's 'a bit of shit for you in the office'. Hoping the Ralph Lauren dress is amongst the 'shit' - dying to try on. It's easy to slip under DH's radar as it's his b'day on Monday, so he probably thinks the arrival of parcels are prezzies for him little does he know I already have all his presents

BrandyAlexander · 01/03/2014 11:20

I think it's a trendy hall type place. Dh still sleeping so can't even get any details!

QueenCadbury · 01/03/2014 11:38

marsha I normally know what I want although once I get to trust a hairdresser and they know my hair I give them a little bit of free rein. No layers and my hair hangs there, too many layers and it's a huge mess. I'm also very particular about my fringe.

novice will check out pin later. Right now dh wants me to research pressure washers Confused

Just popped into town as had Genius Bar appt. I thought the apple guy was great and that my iPad was sorted but it's still freezing up. Looks like another visit and a new iPad. linus new look didn't have any kimonos to look at. But I bought some skinnies! High waisted ones from gap. I'm not entirely sure but there's 30% off in store ending today so bought to try at home.

Drywhiteplease · 01/03/2014 12:30

Oh Novice how about your LK Bennett Ariella dress (?) in that lovely teal with Atwoods? You look incredible in colour. There's a lot of lace around at the mo. Like the garnet too. Your Ascot Coast dress is divine, but too summery.
And, ahem, even if your DH had told you ages ago i suspect it would be a last minute outfit decision anyway Wink
grumpy I love the phrase " DH just called from the horse box"! Grin

QueenCadbury · 01/03/2014 14:32

novice I love that hobbs dress. Although I do love the lace one too but the hobbs is more unusual and unlikely to be anyone else wesring similar.

shopafrolic · 01/03/2014 15:01

Novice the Hobbs dress is definitely very wedding do. Love the colour - will look good on you or YY to Dry's suggestion.
Just been to local town, trawled the market for lovely fresh fruit and veg and had a Carluccios lunch with DS and DH. So nice how brave DS is trying new food. Today he had artichoke, olives, mozzarella, and clams from DH's spaghetti a la vongole. Love watching his face as he tries new tastes!
Chill time now - am trying to get through a few more chapters of my book Dry

SecretSquirrel13 · 01/03/2014 15:08

Yes to the Hobbs, like the phase right too but the Hobbs one more weddingy.
