This space is for anyone who wants to talk about perfumes - ask for recommendations, tell us which scent you are wearing today (=SOTD), list your favorites...

Cresset I couldn't decide either on the 4160 samples and said so in my message so she sent me half and half.

I said I wanted Sunshine & Pancakes, Urara's cafe and anything else.
Think my favourite of the Tuesday's ones is The Sexiest Scent.

MyrtleDove · 12/05/2014 17:16

Was away internet free for the weekend - tried Estée Lauder Spellbound on the way to the station. Very strong, would be a nice carnation scent if it wasn't far too sweet. Lasted the whole weekend though!

ScienceRocks · 12/05/2014 17:47

I did the choosing samples thing, rather than sets from Tuesdays (indecisive). I have a sample of A Kiss By The Fireside if anyone wants a swap? I liked it so much, I bought a full bottle!

Still waiting for my MFK samples, but can't complain yet because of the free postage!

ScienceRocks · 12/05/2014 17:49

The choose your own vials from Tuesdays is here. You choose two and get a third free, but you can choose that one too, if that makes sense. They are a decent size too.

FuzzLightbeard · 12/05/2014 20:17

Science excellent news about the Liz Earle! I had a feeling I would love Seville- it has so many of my favourite notes.

Toomuchtea glad you like the Roger & Gallet! I've never been the sort to stick to one perfume- the first 'proper' perfume I was given was a set of minis and I used to love having that choice.

This evening I'm wearing Oriza's Oeillet Louis XV, which is intensely powdery yet spicy (carnations and cloves I think.) Very vintage feeling.

canny1234 · 12/05/2014 21:31

I've just spent what seems like a fortune at Alla Violetta.I Wanted several Byredo samples and this seemed the best place to get them. But postage alone was 11 euros! The Nose samples seem barginous in comparison.

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 12:38

SOTD - my Kilian Sweet Redemption sample. The orange blossom smells really odd and artificial, and tbh pretty sickly. It's not a fresh, pretty orange blossom at all. A reviewer on Fragrantica said it smells a lot like root beer on them and it does smell just like root beer or dandelion & burdock - hopefully the orange blossom will wear off and leave some nice resinous vanilla. I think incense and orange blossom is a bad mix.

cressetmama · 13/05/2014 12:50

Well, I've ordered my 4160 Tuesday samples and now can't wait for them to arrive. Going to meet a possible new puppy later... what scent do you think appropriate for this? Apart from fresh raw meat of course!

canny1234 · 13/05/2014 13:26

Hop you get your Mfk samples soon Science. Two of them - Aqua Universalis and Amyris Femme have become my favourites.I am haunting base notes to see if there are any splits or decants available.
My puppy ( now 3) used to go round sniffing flowers - particularly lavender and Roses Cressetmama. He sneezes violently when I spray heavy vintage scents though.
I'm thinking about ordering the Sharini sample pack next. There's no reviews on Fragantica though as many of the organic perfume companies are not included.I am also rather tempted to order the rose perfume oil Sharini also sell.Does anyone here scent themselves with pure oils? Are Rose oils powerful enough?

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 13:55

OK, had to scrub off Sweet Redemption as it was making me gag :( Have the rest of the sample left if anyone wants it, happy to do a swapsie with another unwanted sample!

FuzzLightbeard · 13/05/2014 21:18

Cressetmama hmmm maybe a comforting, calming scent...something cosy with lots of vanilla?

Canny I've only ever used pure essential oil in the bath or in an oil burner, lavender mostly. I'm really curious about Sharini, I'll be interested to see what you think of their perfumes.

SOTD was 4160 Tuesdays Evil Max, which I found a bit medicinal to start with but became a very nice woody amber.

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 21:41

Rose essential oil is eye-wateringly expensive! You'd have to dilute in a carrier oil first anyway, only lavender and tea tree oils can safely be used neat on the skin.

This is 20% dilution rose oil Myrtle. The sample pack includes the about to be launched Rose Blanche. So I shall try that first.I'm impressed though - i received a personalised e mail saying the package will be posted tomorrow and this new perfume will be included as a bonus.

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 23:54

Ahh that makes more sense! Worth a try but won't have much projection.

L'Occitaine and Roger & Gallet worth a try for rose perfumes, also Paul Smith Rose.

CuntBiscuit · 14/05/2014 08:46

I'm wearing Ombre Rose today, which smells almost exactly like johnsons baby powder. It's really lovely.

Puppy visiting did not end in true love... maybe because I went unscented! SOTD is Maison Martin Margiela untitled; doesn't last long on me but that first rush of green mossiness and hawthorn blossom gets me every time.

Stokey · 14/05/2014 12:52

Am wearing Celine courtesy of Miss B [Thanks]

Lot of offers on perfumes on Allbeauty.com today. The Lolita Lempnicka one is £15.95

canny1234 · 14/05/2014 16:17

Aqua Universalis is SOTD again. Its starting to become a bit of a habit.Toomuchtea I love the sound of the ethical perfume company.Would love to try Ombre Rose now Cuntbiscuit.

MissBattleaxe · 14/05/2014 17:12

You're welcome Stokey! SOTD Tam Dao by Diptyque- Sandalwood and deliciousness.

FuzzLightbeard · 14/05/2014 20:59

Ooh Ombre Rose has been on my 'to try' list for ages. Also planning to order some Diptyque samples when the funds are replenished so will have to add Tam Dao to those!

SOTD was Cartier's Baiser Vole, which being fond of lilies, I found to be rather lovely. Still think I prefer Lys Soleia though, Baiser Vole is too much on the light side for me.

Wearing Kurkdjian Amyris Femme in the sun on my patio.I can smell the delicious scent of the pale pink Clematis Montana and the scented Violas ( always buy scented plants to fill the pots).I think this is the first proper sunny day we've had for quite a while. Can't resist smelling the Fragrant Magnolia when I walk past - its such a sparkling fresh lemon sherbert scent.
