Flowers to Cremo's DD - fantastic!

Rudy, have fun. Paris is lovely, even in the rain (and my Parisian friend assures me they've had a lot, so pack your brolly and raincoat!)

Stropps, go for it!

Picked DD up from her mates at 10 last night - they managed to get to the footy ground (including a £20 cab taking 50mins!!!!) but the game was rained off, so they watched training and then went to Nandos. Quite an adventure getting there, but all good experience I guess!

hattymattie · 07/02/2014 07:14

Must rush out but just came on to say Fab for your DD crem. Have fun Rudy and good luck Stropps xx

NUFC69 · 07/02/2014 07:23

Congratulations to your Dd, Crem. I don't think I would have had the courage to watch as I am a whimp. Love singing but can't reach the high notes now. Must be wonderful to have a really good voice.

Thinking about you today, Stropps. Bon courage!

I had excruciatingly painful cramp in the night; presumably as a result of all of yesterday's exercise. I might try the bar of soap in bed trick tonight to see if that helps.

Going to a coffee morning in aid of the British Heart Foundation in memory of 23 yo who died after his heart transplant failed. So sad.

addle · 07/02/2014 07:25

Bar of soap in bed NU?

Congrats Crem, how fab. is there a recording?

Hv great time Rudy

and good luck Stropps

cremolafoam · 07/02/2014 07:30

Shock Bar of soap- intrigued?

lalsy · 07/02/2014 07:32

Oooh Crem, how wonderful. BTM, good for them, definitely good experience. Thank goodness for Nandos. Stropps, good luck today, and one day at a time after that.

NUFC69 · 07/02/2014 07:44

Bar of soap between the sheets! I have heard this suggested several times, the last time being by the aquarobics teacher in Scottsdale last year. We all agreed that it was strange and we couldn't understand why but if it worked. . . I think I would rather try the soap than teacher's other suggestion of drinking pickle juice. DSis also read that too much citrus fruit doesn't help and I have been eating several clementines every day recently. Will report back about the soap.

bigTillyMint · 07/02/2014 08:06

Never heard that about the soap! Stretching is usually the best way to sort itWink

TFIF, just wish it was 3pm now!

Thinking of you Stropps! And love the 'long distance paddle'. Dog will go out in the rain, but hates having his paws cleaned afterwards. He is so shaggy the rain sort of bounces off him....

See Rudy - I was right re ds and I!

Bar of soap? Does it matter what type? Could have done with that yesterday morning

beachyhead · 07/02/2014 08:38

Hope the waters part enough for you to get to Paris, Rudy...

Both my dogs seem happy enough in the rain, but we are getting more and more limited in where to go as various roads have been flooded for weeks. We are off to the beach today - sand all of the kitchen floor rather than mud will make all the difference Grin

I can't believe that the country's first statue of Charles Dickens is being unveiled today in Portsmouth (his birthplace)... You would have thought there would have been one before now.

Dd1 is off to NY on Wednesday for a College trip. Busy buying thermals for her from M&S and trying to persuade her that, even if she believes NY is the most fashionable city in the world, most New Yorkers won't bat an eyelid at sensible warm boots when it's -10 degrees!

beachyhead · 07/02/2014 08:48

all over the kitchen floor...

And strength to Stropps today and here's hoping for an understanding and listening GP.

motherinferior · 07/02/2014 08:58

Oh....dear.

The Outlaws With Whom I Do Not Get On are coming to the UK in July. I do realise this is quite a long time away but am already braced for it. I slightly think they hate me. (There are reasons for this, and I was v unwelcoming when they visited, I rather think, but also it was DP not just me and I cop all the blame.)

Blackduck · 07/02/2014 09:07

I hope they are not staying with you MI!

Can you meet on neutral territory....

bigTillyMint · 07/02/2014 09:24

MI, how long for?

NUFC69 · 07/02/2014 10:18

Ouch, MI, I sympathise. Never had a MIL, though, so don't have any experience of that - but used to get very irritated with FIL when he was alive. It's fortunate that your ILs live out of the country.

It's quite a nice day here, but only 2 degrees C, so very cold. Was going to wear my lovely new pink trench when I went out, but have decided that I would rather be warm. Sympathies to those living in the south who are having "weather" and suffering from the floods. I hope Rudy gets away ok.

Nucat is sitting on the back of my chair; as he is sixteen in May he doesn't venture far these days, although sometimes he chases around like a maniac, leaping on the furniture and generally behaving like a yob.

motherinferior · 07/02/2014 11:17

This is the Posh BIL and Princess Bride...fortunately they're not staying with us, as I think they think we live in dangerously squalid conditions (they nearly left straight after arriving last time).

Have been to a friend's birthday breakfast (get me! on a Friday!) and am feeling no pain, which is just as well as copy is back for a 'few tweaks' on the get outdoors feature...

herbaceous · 07/02/2014 11:18

Ooh Crem, how thrilling. What did she sing? This is precisely what I want DS to be doing. He does skip down the road to his drama lessons, exclaiming 'Mummy, I love drama so much,' so maybe a life on the stage beckons. And he can sing in tune, and has a brill sense of rhythm. Enough to be the next Michael Bublé, I'm sure.

London seems to have escaped actual flooding, but it must be bloody awful for those under water. The only plus side is it might change the minds of one of two climate change sceptics. I sometimes wake up sweating in the middle of the night about what the future might hold for DS, if the worst climate change case scenario comes to pass.

And yes Stropps - you must bare your soul to the GP, however ghastly. It's the only way.

hattymattie · 07/02/2014 11:38

Herbs - this is what I worry about as well. Is the Thames Barrier shut and doing its stuff at the moment?

New shower appears to be leaking. Why is it so complicated for us just to have a normal shower that worksAngry.
