I NEVER had the legs for that! I note that the largest size it was made in was a 12. Probably wise...

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 12:12

DD wears skirts that short, but probably not in silver leather. And definitely not at that price!

Ok I'm booking a flight this afternoon.
And you can put me down as "silver lurex cocoon dress" have to keep my brocade skirt for the wedding and I've nothing to wear on top.
QQ is the Vietnamese resto prepared for the onslaught of tinselly crepeys?Shock

Sheesh yes good point Cremo (can't wait to meet you and at least I suspect we will all be easy to spot...) but we could look like we have missed Christmas by a few months. Grin

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 14:44

Oh CV we can be skirt twins! Except you will look much slimmer in yoursSmile
Great Cremo! Will be lovely to see you again. And Rudy and Beachy who didn't make it last time.

Have just had a deep cleansing facial so am now trying to hide in a corner of the French cafe whilst I make the most of my afternoon of leisure.
DD has borrowed my dark pink bag (at least she asked!) for a shopping trip with friends and I am cooking a mound of pancakes for us all tonight as she will be at Beyonce on Tuesday!

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2014 17:08

Just debating whether to start a thread on this missing girl. She's the older sister of one of DS's football mates; I've known her parents for several years, but mainly on the touchline. It sounds like it's a planned runaway rather than an abduction, but every parent's worst nightmare....

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 17:17

Oh CVSad How absolutely terrible for the parents and the rest of the family/friends. How old is she?

She is 15. They've traced her mobile to central London, but that's all they know. Completely "out of character" (but isn't it always?) Sad

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 17:28

Y10 or Y11? Not that that makes a huge difference. I hope they find her soon, safe and sound.

Teens make all sorts of bad choicesSad

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 17:31

Have posted it on mine too.

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2014 19:05

Thanks for the FB posts. She's Y11. According to DS just a very "normal" girl, although he doesn't know her well. He's a bit spooked by it.

Stropperella · 01/03/2014 19:58

I hope that girl turns up safe and well very soon.
Do and I had another nice afternoon. We went to our local do for International Women's Day. We go most years and have previously attended workshops etc, but didn't have time to do that today. Had a nice browse of various info stalls and got lots of info for dd about how to avoid dodgy relationships and spot red flags etc. Also got some nice freebies (always good, esp for teens). Sorry to miss Harriet Walter giving a talk on "Women through the ages".
Then dd and I spent a happy couple of hours faffing around in town. Was very nice. Meanwhile, dh took ds to Weymouth Music Festival, where ds was performing. Dh managed to shut ds's finger in the car door just after they arrived and ds played 15 mins later. His finger is a right mess, so it's quite impressive that he played at all.

Stropperella · 01/03/2014 20:00

That would be "dd and I". Autocorrect. Bah.

herbaceous · 01/03/2014 20:05

What ho crepeys. Returned from inlaws visit, and did just about the opposite of everything recommended. Took DS, took him to the hospital, drove for five hours with sprained ankle, and walked for hours down the longest hospital corridors known to man. I swear we crossed two counties.

All unbearably sad. FiL so brave, and philosophical, and so funny still - it was all I could do to hold it together. Didn't think it would be the done thing to weep and wail while wife and son kept their composure.

DS did start asking just what IS the matter with dadda - he's very yellow - and I'll tell him in good time. One consideration is ensuring him and his cousins (age 6 and 7) have been told roughly the same thing, so no one gets a nasty shock.

Stropperella · 01/03/2014 20:24

Well done, Herbs. Sounds as though it went well, all things considered. I'd be giving that ankle some anti-inflammatory tlc about now, though.

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 20:36

Stropps, sounds like another bonding daySmile Though I'm sure your poor DS could have done without the finger incident.
And Herbs glad to hear it all went so well. TLC for your ankle snd DP nowSmile

DD and her friends have been in the bathroom for hours dyeing DD's hair and have used up all my foil! They rushed back from shopping straight into the kitchen when they heard we were tucking into the mountain of pancakes I cooked earlier!

NUFC69 · 01/03/2014 20:41

I think you coped admirably, Herbs; well done especially on the hospital visit; probably your DS being there helped everyone because it is life continuing in the midst of sadness. I think a glass of something is called for now - and put your ankle up to rest it.

So sorry to hear about the missing girl - I do hope she turns up soon none the worse for her adventure. Always a worry when anyone goes missing, but particularly so with youngsters.

NUFC69 · 01/03/2014 20:46

Ah, BTM, your DD dying her hair reminds me of when I was a teenager and I went to babysit for a friend of DM. I told my DF that I was taking a hair dye with me to do whilst the DC were in bed; seeing as this must have been the 60s DF was appalled. When he collected me hours later he told me that it looked awful; which was when I told him that I hadn't actually dyed my hair at all (I waved the sachet at him to prove it!). Cue much discomforted DF. Grin

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 20:54

Grin NU! I'm not sure it's going too well - should it take so long? DD has done lots of dipdyeing and sun-in, etc but I have never ever dyed my hair!

I was just saying to DH that I would love to time-travel back to the 50's and 60's - I can remember bits and pieces back from my childhood in the late 60's, but I would love to experience as an adult how it all was (and to have gone to the Cavern and all that sort of thing - I used to work with someone who was a regular thereEnvy)

NUFC69 · 01/03/2014 21:08

Mmmm, not sure, BTM. Life was very colourless then, I think; although there was an excitement to being there when things started, if you see what I mean. Life was quite hard in lots of respects obviously, but we all had so much freedom. I used to love my mini-skirts and Mary Quant stuff; I even remember the advent of tights and the joy of not wearing stockings and suspender belts. Can you imagine, I remember the first proper motorway opening and the fuss about it - so much of what we take for granted now just didn't exist. I think women's lives in particular were so different, although as my DM was a strong Yorkshire woman she never went in for the man being the head of the household! Can you tell, I am feeling quite nostalgic which is quite unusual for me.

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2014 22:11

Just heard a short while ago that Nicole is on her way home, having been found somewhere in central London. So relieved for her lovely mum and dad. I'm sure the full story will filter around FB and Instagram eventually.
