Decam he's a fantastic dad! Though sometimes I think he should ease up a bit and pop her in front of the odd DVD as he ends up exhausted.

Well done Dry can't wait to hear the outcome. Can you call AR for me Grin - I haven't the energy...writing an absolutely torturous report on a very boring topic - keep distracting with MN - MUST GET IT DONE.

libertychick · 05/02/2014 16:43

x-post..
I haven't dealt with it yet today Decam - would be a much more productive use of my time that being on here have to log off

shopafrolic · 05/02/2014 16:48

Liberty DS will be round in 5 minutes. He'd love that game. :)

libertychick · 05/02/2014 16:55

He's be very welcome Shop though DD has just had a major huff as DH is making her play by the rules and her spider has just had to go down the spout due to rain

AmberNectarine · 05/02/2014 17:11

The bootcut/flares thing is more to do with my body shape than my CP. They look awful on me. I don't care if they come back into fashion - stumpy legs are not for me.

Meh, I don't feel pigeonholed at all, it was really interesting to understand the psychology of it all, it's very much rooted in personality and it makes me understand all my bad choices. If anything it's given me more freedom to be me - some of my choices are a bit maverick and I have toned down a bit over the years. Now I understand why those choices work for me and that I won't look ridiculous.

If I'd gone in and been told to wear florals and maxi dresses I'd have ignored it entirely but he got me absolutely spot on which I thought was fascinating. It's not for everyone of course but I got a huge amount out of it, just as I did for colours.

Drywhiteplease · 05/02/2014 18:50

Just had to kill 20mins in M and S....saw a few nice bits. Obv look terrible on line but believe me they were quite tempting.
leather trouservery tempted, have little zips on ankles and the back is a thick stretch jersey. No time to try and obv resisted....still a lot for a garment I'd wear twice, but would look amazing worn like Sleep with my Zara rose gold heels.
cashmere looked longer IRL , button coverage length. Lovely
dress Autograph designers have home pleather trim bonkers but I thought this was nice.

Also checked these shoes out. They are first on my list of things to buy post bag. The pink and navy suede were gorgeous too.

shop bought my trainers! I feel grey stylish now Grin

Mignonette · 05/02/2014 18:53

Shop

I wore my parka today.....Smile

It has a Kenny style snorkel hood and after seeing yours I had pangs of guilt about it sitting there unloved - yes i believe my clothing has a soul.

Drywhiteplease · 05/02/2014 18:57

Oh god....looking again at the leather trousers I really want them......WWMD? Look quite nice styled with pointy flats and slouchy jumper

Mignonette · 05/02/2014 19:08

Hope I didn't offend you Amber - I didn't mean to infer it was pigeon holing and yes the psychology of it does sound interesting. Out of interest what would some of those maverick choices have been?

Actually good questions for everybody- The Wednesday night questions-

  1. What is the worst or more inappropriate item of clothing or accessory you have ever bought?

  2. What is the worst or most un-you thing that anybody has ever bought you?

What comes to mind for me are two items-

  1. A yellow marl chunky knit with a button over front and wide Peter Pan collar. The front had press studs that fastened diagonally from shoulder to hemline. It was a Dior cardigan given to me by a friend who got it from a friend....You get the picture. I think it may have come from the shows because it never went into production (no surprise why) but it looked so hideous my Husband and I actually burst into hysterical laughter when I put it on. I still have it and I don't know why although it has probably been devoured by moths in the attic or something.

  2. A zebra patterned cowl necked jumper bought by my Mother when I was about 30. Oh God it was vile. Perfect for Bingo circa 1975 with hairnet, fag and foul mouth. Not perfect for anybody remotely interested in looking good enough to be seen in public. My Mother usually has exquisite taste (She gave me a McQueen Novak bag and a Chanel 2:55 in Primrose FFS) but something went wrong here.

LinusDKD · 05/02/2014 19:10

dry FOCUS!

Step away from the M&S offerings and think about the Gucci bag!

shopafrolic · 05/02/2014 19:25

Dry GUCCI GUCCI GOO
Umlauf - do you mean you have them in grey? I thought you said navy? Stylish goes without saying surely? :)
I'm impressed with the NB website - despatched already! I might be wearing them for the MU at this rate.
Sleep the book has arrived - looks good. I'm off to Pilates now so will catch you all later.

Umlauf · 05/02/2014 19:32

Navy shop , but the 410s. I tried the 574s too and loved the comfort but thought they were a bit too manly for my narrow feet.

Drywhiteplease · 05/02/2014 19:32

Mig that's eeeeeaaaasssssyyyyyy...

  1. Cow print skirt. Think fresian. I thought it looked fab with black polo neck and black knee boots about 13 yrs ago. I looked like an idiot.
  2. The famous VW handbag and purse...the one and only time DH has ever bought me a fashion item on his own Sad

I cracked.....but it's ok I can send them back, I suspect/hope they will be hideous.

LinusDKD · 05/02/2014 19:39

Can't think of an inappropriate thing I bought myself but DH once bought me a tartan mini skirt (prob polyester) on a stag weekend in Edinburgh.
Hmm

Drywhiteplease · 05/02/2014 19:40

No no no ....I've cancelled order, have cancelled order.......phew that was close.....need a Wine and a lie down Grin

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 05/02/2014 19:42

Hmmm, worst thing I've ever bought....

probably the cream, orange and brown patterned mock wrap dress along with the brown cardi. I thought it looked cute, everyone told me I looked dowdy and drab. Did nothing for my self confidence and I ended up giving the complete outfit to my sister who looks fabulous and sparkly eyed in it

Worst clothing anyone else ever bought me was absolutely the ahem....pleather thong and nipple cut out bra set that an ex bestowed upon me one birthday. I have never gotten over it

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/02/2014 19:46

Helloooo

Great to hear about the style day Amber, sounds fab. All the discussion has made me want to do it more now - I want a rule book, like Liberty. I yearn to be more effortlessly stylish!

I think I would be some combo of classic, dramatic or gamine. Definitely have no romantic, natural or ingenue traits.

But I don't want to go to the consultant I saw before as I don't think we clicked :/

Off to read back a bit more...

libertychick · 05/02/2014 19:46

Grin at Dry they have potential I think.

Good questions Mig.

  1. A 'suit' I bought in my first management job, flowery flared skirt with a fitted jacket which had a collar in the same flowery pattern as the skirt. There are 80 year olds who would have run screaming from it. In my defense I was fat and poor and it fitted and was cheap Sad
  1. My mother has an impeccable track record of buying me awful clothes usually either two sizes too small or too big - too many things to list and she has given up now! DH went through a period of buying me rugby style shirts and cropped cargo pants Confused
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/02/2014 19:54

Lol Dry! Pat on the back for you and a small glass of something (not so big that you are tempted again!)

Because Bali sounds fab, hope you're having a wonderful honeymoon.
I have never flown long haul, am going to the USA for the first time in May :)

Nice one on the trainers shop.

I can't think of anything in answer to mig's question. Not because everything I buy is amazing, but because I've only been really interested in fashion for the last 2-3 years and haven't had any major disasters yet. And can't remember the last time anyone bought me clothes or accessories (unless off a list), think they all know not to Grin

Annianni · 05/02/2014 20:19

Dry ffs... Behave woman!!!
Think Gucci...

To answer Mig's question...

1- a pair of rather loud Versace jeans I was drunk and silly me took the labels off so I couldn't return them. (this was many years ago)

2- a strap-on.

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2014 20:41

Work done, dusted and invoiced. That feels good. Excellent!

Dry so funny Grin. I would do the same!

Great NB Shop.

I am beat so going to watch a movie with dh, and back later with an answer to Mig's question.

  1. I bought a very expensive Louis Vuitton red leather bag (hand held) on the way home from my 40 week hospital appointment when pregnant with DD1. It didn't get a lot of use as I then realised it was incompatible with a tiny baby, and I sold it a few months later (though for more than I paid in the first place because by then the bag was sold out!).
  1. My mother (who normally had great taste particularly in jewellery) bought me a pearl ring, I do like pearls but not as a ring and the setting was awful. I couldn't tell her and upset her so had to wear it for ages.
