See I am so mad I can't do the emoticon properly Angry Angry Angry

BrandyAlexander · 04/02/2014 23:02

It's interesting as they have just secured a £2m investment from consortium of investors today. The debacle over the last month will be very damaging though.

Liberty that's a real fast ind isn't it?!Shock

Decameron · 04/02/2014 23:13

That's very annoying, Liberty. Surely they will refund you the difference tomorrow. You can take a photo of the size 10 dress label to prove you kept that one.

libertychick · 04/02/2014 23:17

That's a good idea Decam - will do that. Total PITA having to chase them.

I hope at least one of their new investors has half a clue about customer service novice.

libertychick · 04/02/2014 23:20

Here's what I put on the AR thread to save you all having to switch between threads....

am still v annoyed with Atterley Road...

(Edward if you are still listening).

I ordered a dress in a size 12 for £65, it was slightly big and then the same dress was reduced further to £39 so I ordered in a 10. The 10 was a better fit so I returned the 12 - refund came through today and the email states I was refunded £39 for a size 10 return (I definitely returned the 12) instead of the £65 I paid for it. I'll email the company properly tomorrow but wanted to post here as your customer service still has a long way to go IMO.

Annianni · 05/02/2014 08:01

Liberty have you double checked that you sent the correct returns slip with the dress, and didn't send the bigger dress but the smaller details?
Apologies if you've already done that...

Shop, photos of the Me+Em?
My head's fine now.
Dh says I'm not allowed out again, for being a complete lightweight! :o

And has Amber been on the thread since her style day?

Annianni · 05/02/2014 08:04

Dry... I've been in a cockpit too Wink

AmberNectarine · 05/02/2014 08:45

Anni I have not! Sorry folks, training for a 10k and have been out pounding the pavements a lot.

Anyway, I am a Dramatic Gamine. This is basically a quirky, witty way of dressing with lots of detail, with a tough edge. And the good news is I'm basically getting it pretty much right already. The consultant was excellent and spotted me as a Gamine straight off (he also is one so I suppose that might make it simpler). I wasn't at all surprised by the diagnosis (I strongly suspected it would be DG) but it was nice to have it confirmed and be given permission to let my zany side out a bit!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 05/02/2014 08:58

Amber where was the consultant from? Sounds rather interesting!

shopafrolic · 05/02/2014 09:01

No pics of the Me&em as it was late last night and frankly I was too tired. I may wear it on Sunday to a Christening so I'll take pics then.
Liberty - that is awful. I wasn't overly impressed that they are able to deal with CS issues on a MN thread - it felt a bit like self promotion to me but I am unclear on what the rules are? When Anna came on promoting they were reported and deleted but promoting that you are working to improve your service seems to be acceptable?

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2014 09:08

Made it. Things are crazy with a tube strike.

Tg I meet different people each day I'm wearing nearly the same thing (washed and dried hurriedly), cheapskate!

Shop I know I remember there's an Ocado person who comes in to deal with things. I much prefer they say who they are than try and promote secretly or just advertise as Anna did.

Decameron · 05/02/2014 09:09

I love Me & Em dresses.

Hope they sort out the correct refund for you today, Liberty.

Amber, yes, exactly how you already dress. I have no idea what I would be, something preppy and dull I am sure!

Btw, in case I sounded very spoiled about the bags, it is only because I am ebaying loads!

DD2 and I are going to do shred now. :)

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2014 09:11

Decam I love preppy on the right person, never dull.

Liberty argh for you, what a pita! Hope they sort it today.

AmberNectarine · 05/02/2014 09:22

Not really shop - I guess anything loose/unstructured but I don't really do a lot of that. Boyfriend jeans are ok mercifully and I have been advised not to wear bootcut or flares which is a blessed relief as they look shocking on me anyway!

Mignonette · 05/02/2014 09:52

Queen

Here is Kate Moss's first cover for UK Vogue as fashion editor! Daria Werbowy is the model and the whole edition looks super interesting with articles on girl friend gangs, Miroslava Duma's ridiculously --paid for by Daddy- huge wardrobe and some gorgeous fashion shoots.

I think I'd develop Oppositional Defiance Disorder if I had a style day. Sounds really interesting but I'm not sure if it is for me if you know what I mean? Being very old I have kind of worked out what I like and what suits me (fortunately they tend to coincide). I can see that Amber has a strong fashion identity and that your style day would be very useful from a professional perspective as a fashion blogger and to have your preferences confirmed.

I can also see that for quite a few women fashion is a bit of a minefield- knowing what to wear and getting out of a rut, especially after having a child and maybe moving from work to SAHM or into another professional field. So these styling advisors have great usefulness then. I'm just unsure that they'd be able to tell me anything that I haven't already worked out- correct me if I am wrong on that.

What I like is being introduced to new labels and designs and the fashion press is excellent for that, especially the bloggers. The big beasts - Vogue/Harpers/W/Love tend to be beholden to who is advertising with them. If Prada has taken out the front page gatefold in their latest edition then Prada will have to be on the backs of at least one model in an editorial story. There are some amazing new designers coming through promoted by the Wool Foundation and the CFDA/Vogue awards in the USA and Armani are championing the Italian-Haitian designer Stella Jean who I love. There's another Haitian designer called Malou Cadet who looks promising- Very Oscar De La Renta styled Bell skirts with big patterns.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 05/02/2014 10:11

I will, of course, get Vogue as soon as I'm back but I have to say I'm mildly sceptical about Ms Moss' move to stylist. I get it that she's not going to model forever (I think Christy Turlington or Helena Christensen still photograph well but the rest of the 'supermodels' are aging), but I don't think every model can style evens with her experience. I might be biased because I was never too impressed with her Top Shop collections.

What I would like to get out of a style day would be a confirmation of my colours and also help figuring out the things that somehow should work, but don't. I can figure all of this by myself, but to be honest in the last few years I've been living either in yoga gear or working insane hours so I guess I'd like to outsource all the work that I've just not had the time to do, despite having the inclination. Does that make sense?

Mignonette · 05/02/2014 10:28

I think Moss is a bit different in that she is recognised by the industry as being extraordinarily collaborative in the process of getting a fashion photo. She has certainly been muse to and model for many artists- Freud, Quinn etc and while I agree that she is ageing in a manner more obvious than some of her peers, in this case I think she'll make a good stylist.

Because Tell me what it smells like out there. I have images in my mind of Tuberose and Frangipane and Vanilla- all manner of gorgeousness. And yes outsourcing what you have not time to do makes perfect sense.

shopafrolic · 05/02/2014 11:08

Anyone care to help me choose please?

I'll be wearing trainers with skinny or boyfriend jeans, loads of grey sweatshirts, J Crew vintage tees in assorted colours, red and cream breton, A&W chinos, peacoat, check coat or parka.

4 colour ways of New Balance here....

Mignonette · 05/02/2014 11:53

The Zinnia colourway with the check coat because I like a flash of acid bright with a graphic check. I wear my check coat with a lime Edina Robay scarf.

The Chloe coat with the brown NB's or go olive and white id you keep the pants and sweat neutral. Chloe would work with the zinnia too.

No to the parka - they have reached tipping point now. I have put mine on probation until every other person stops wearing one Sad.

Annianni · 05/02/2014 11:58

I have given several opinions Shop, none of which make sense :o

shopafrolic · 05/02/2014 12:33

Thanks everyone - I think I'll try the green.
Mig I hear what you're saying about the parka but it was a Christmas gift and I love it so it's sticking around. I'm happy to be a sheep sometimes.

Annianni · 05/02/2014 12:36

I think 40 bum lady said something about their sizing recently Shop, and Susie so so too.

I've been a parka wearer for 18 months now

libertychick · 05/02/2014 12:38

Oh yes on NB sizing Shop I would size up. Mine are size 6 (I'm usually 5.5 or 6) and they only just fit and my feet look weirdly small in them

Umlauf · 05/02/2014 13:30

I have navy NBs.. I like the olive and the brown best shop

Great to hear about your style day amber it sounds like a lot of fun! I don't think I'd do one personally as I don't like parameters wrt dressing but I would like to play dress up all day long.

Interesting KM cover... Was she going for a cruella de vil look?! I think she has certainly got potential as a stylist, moving from model to stylist worked well for Grace C, I'll be buying the issue when I'm back in the uk this month.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 05/02/2014 13:47

Mig, compared to India which is the only other country I've been to in this side of the world, Bali is...smell-less. At a push, I smell the sea (but I am always sensitive to sea smell because I grew up near it and miss it so badly) but not much more. Having said that, we haven't really left the resort much yet, once we venture out to Ubud and other less touristy places I bet it will all be more...itself, if that makes sense.

Oh, I just remembered I've bent to Singapore too. I tend to forget because I find it a little bit boring Blush
