TFIF! What a week. And DH just text to say let's go for a drink when he gets backSmile

Hope miniherbs is strutting his stuffWink

motherinferior · 31/01/2014 17:15

I'm just clearing the cover image and then I'm going to down tools, eat something of a yet unspecified nature and then meet DP to see The Duck House.

Stuff was strutted, I believe. I only got there right at the end, but in time to witness a pretty ace lighting set up. He refused to be drawn on whether he danced with his 'girlfriend'.

Auriga · 31/01/2014 18:29

Just back from the North West to an ailing husband and daughter. He has taken to bed; she was recovered enough to be driven to violin in the p*ing rain. Hope you are all safe from floods.

Pathetically, I woke up sobbing DH's name at 04:45 on my one night away Blush. In my defence, I was mid-nightmare. Quite Big Talk turned out to have Very Big Audience but went well.

Stropps, hope things are looking up a little.

BD, I know things have moved on, but meant to say my migraine didn't go out of control till I stopped HRT, ie until I allowed menopause to happen. And weren't controlled (on all manner of toxic drugs) till I re-started. It was oestrogen-only, though, which was fine for me as I had no uterus. Think it's progestagen that's the main problem with migraine.

motherinferior · 31/01/2014 18:50

Yes, Stropps, been thinking about you.

As I usually whinge to you lot about work I feel I should share the fact I have already chalked up enough work by the end of Feb to cover nearly all my outgoings. Granted, I need to push above this to recover from the Pants Months, not to speak of tax bill (mine is in June but I know what it isShock) but I am pleased with self. And in addition to about 100 final edits on charity mag this week - including writing emergency copy to fill gaps - I have done most of two (2, ii) other features (well, you lot did the first one and indeed some of the secondGrin)

thats good MI
Yes the effing rain is effing awful. DS appeared home drippung like a drowned rat after footy training in the rain and cycling home in the rain!

Stropperella · 31/01/2014 19:21

I'm glad Herbs Junior made it to the ball :) Auriga, well done on your Big Talk. And congrats on the productive week MI.

Today is my 49th birthday :) and I am off out to a friend's house with another friend, a Wagamama takeaway and a bottle of cava. I've had a very unproductive week work-wise, but currently have a prospective new client hassling me for pricing info when I am due to leave the house in about 20 mins. Hmm Have committed to some invigilation work for the next while, which inevitably means that some "proper" work will come along v. soon to clash with it.

Anyhow, I'm off to drink some fizz. Happy Friday, crepsters!

beachyhead · 31/01/2014 19:28

Happy birthday Stropps. Glad things are looking up. Have a fantastic evening! Think you deserve it this week. WineWineThanks

lalsy · 31/01/2014 19:37

Happy Birthday Stropps!

ds has not appeared which means he is playing hockey in rain and wind, dd is out, dh working. I am about to pour a small sherry and lie down with my kindle.....living the dream .

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/01/2014 19:38

Happy Birthday Stropps. Enjoy your cava and Wagamama. My turn to be 49 next week!

herbaceous · 31/01/2014 19:44

HB Stropps. Cast aside any worries, and down the cava.

I'm knackered. Juggling a poorly child and work is a bugger, is it not. Still, at least I've made dinner. I'm trying a new system of making something that DS will at least attempt, and heating it up again for me and DP later. Making two meals, and clearing up after them, was getting me daaaahn.

DS has an appointment on Monday at the eye hospital for a moulding of his tiny eye under general anaesthetic. A few months ago, out of the blue he begged me to never make him do it again. He especially hates the canula. So, we haven't told him yet what's in store. We've got to get there at 7.30am on Monday, and he won't be able to eat or drink after midnight on Sunday. What FUN that's going to be.

That's if he's not too ill - I don't think they'll do the procedure if he's still got this cough/temperature thing.

Happy Birthday StroppsFlowersWine

Herbs, poor little miniherbs. And yes, yes to only making 1 meal. Life is far too short!

NUFC69 · 31/01/2014 20:02

Happy birthday, Stropps - have a lovely evening with your friend. Glad to hear that you are happier today.

Herbs - good luck with your DS. It must be very stressful for all of you. DD had to have several eye operations when she was small - obviously nothing like your DS, but I know in a very small way how you are feeling. I will be thinking about you.

Auriga · 31/01/2014 20:53

Well done on work MI. and on sociable birthday Stropps. Sorry you have to get DS through another operation, though, Herbs. I know I struggled terribly each time with DD.

Snuggled up by fire here, feeling the family viruses invade my system...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STROPPS!
Pleased to hear you are having a night out to celebrate. You so deserve it after a crappy week.
Herbs, will think of you and mini Herb on Monday. Hope it all goes ok and he's not too scared / upset.
Well done on the work front MI, bloomin marvellous!
Happy weekends to you all. Have a very TGIF feeling about me this evening. We went to the Vietnamese restaurant around the corner for supper and it was delicious. Now watching Corrie on +1. The glamour!

bigTillyMint · 31/01/2014 21:50

Wow Rudy - well done him!
One of DD's mates plays up a year for a PL team - U16's currently, but will have to decide whether to follow through or do A levels next year. Big decision.

Vietnamese restaurant sounds good QQEnvy

I bloody LOVE Vietnamese food. It's one thing I miss about living in dalton - we had loads within walking distance. Now, not a sausage. Or, indeed, fresh roll.
