CV, when my dd was in yr 7 her mate booked two appointments - art and PE - 3 hours apart (traumatised parents). I will try and go backwards and forwards at the same time tonight.

Nope, I was the original square teen Smile

motherinferior · 04/02/2014 13:26

As the person who went to their university interview in a Laura Ashley frock and sporting a black velvet hair-ribbon - in 1980, yet - I would like to point out that the odd wild party in earlier adolescence does not preclude being practically a cube at 17.

Blackduck · 04/02/2014 13:33

Nope, sorry, I was the original square teen.... links arms in solidarity with CV and Lalsy.......

lalsy · 04/02/2014 13:49

I went to a famous physics place instead of having an 18th birthday party. Slam dunk (peers over glasses - is that the right expression)?

motherinferior · 04/02/2014 14:10

God, we really wasted our youth, didn't we Grin

Happy Birthday, Mrs S! Enjoy dinner - do you know where?

Stropps - agree with everyone else, get to the GP with a printout of this thread or someone else who can confirm what the bad times are like.

Re parties - my DD had a few when we went away - it was always worrying coming back - starting with her texts that wanted to know specifically what time we would get back and adjuring us not to hurry. On one occasion they seemed to have cleaned up pretty well until we found an up turned bottle in a wellington boot, wine glass under our bed, etc etc. but apparently they were never parties, only 'gatherings'

wilbur · 04/02/2014 14:57

Blimey, maybe we should have a crepey party if anyone wants to relive or live for the first time a bit of wild yoof. I'm happy to mix up some Moscow Mule.

Although no one is allowed to recreate my friend's infamous "beer on the ceiling" party. Her mum is still trying to paint over it.

And Grin at MI being a pant-finder....

Blackduck · 04/02/2014 15:07

Loving the fact they were not parties, but 'gatherings'........ ;)

Dp's escapade as a yoof was borrowing his mates fathers motorbike and crashing it. Mate ended up in hospital (he's a haemophiliac so had to make sure bleeding had stopped) and bike in the garage being repaired. Dp spent the week fielding phone calls from the parents that went along the lines of 'Oh, you've just missed him, he's in the bath/gone down the shops/at the gym'.....

Years later at dinner the father said 'so what did happen the week we went away'.......

beachyhead · 04/02/2014 16:04

I would just like to state for the record that I thoroughly spent my youth, quite possibly went into overdraft Smile

Blackduck · 04/02/2014 16:06

Beachy :) :)

I was saving mine up (god knows what for....)

bigTillyMint · 04/02/2014 16:55

I wasn't a particularly square teen, but I made sure I didn't have any big wild parties at homeWink

cremolafoam · 04/02/2014 17:30

Probably shouldn't admit to this on a public forum but I have had complete strangers come up to me years later and say how much they remember about 'that party" my sister and I had in 1982 . Hmm. My parents left us with a 20 year old cousin, dear help her. She only called in a couple of times to check we were still alive.
There was a violet stain on the bathroom wall for years where my dsis projectile vomited her Purple Nasty.BlushBlushBlush
I was grounded for a year.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/02/2014 17:45

Oh God - Purple Nasties... how could we? Wasn't it a Snakebite with a pernod and blackcurrant thrown in? Urrrrgh!

NUFC69 · 04/02/2014 17:48

Can I join the original cubes, please? I guess because I am the oldest of the Crepeys my teenage life was sedate; things hotted up with the arrival of my DH and, OMG, I would have killed either of my two DC if they had got up to the drinking which DH did when I first knew him. And I am ashamed to say that much alcohol was consumed and cars driven (not by me, though). My DM became ill with breast cancer when I was in my early 20s and life was grim for a couple of years so even things like my wedding were coloured by her loss.

Feet up after dinner tonight as we had both of DD's DC while she went to get her hair highlighted and cut (her first visit to the hairdresser in 18 months). I love having them, but when they have gone I know why women in their 60s are not designed to have babies!

motherinferior · 04/02/2014 18:47

Should the next thread title be Crepeys Cubed?

hattymattie · 04/02/2014 19:04

Crem Grin. I was also a very square teenager and much to my relief, so far, so good with mine, although I'm waiting to see what happens with the male child. Everybody has always warned me about boys but my experience so far is limited to teenage girls, who I know can be pretty frightful.

Thanks for the offer of help with the Holiday Home Crem - yesterday I would have accepted but I might just have found somewhere - I'll PM you when I get it confirmed so you can have a look. It's a house in the middle of the forest so it sounds quite exciting - I'm such a townie - I've never lived surrounded by trees to that extent. It feels a bit Hobbity (except for the swimming pool that is).

hattymattie · 04/02/2014 19:07

Yes - go for Crepey Cubed MI - although that only seems to apply to half of us and certainly not Wilbur and Crem Grin

herbaceous · 04/02/2014 19:45

I was a little bit square - perhaps rhomboid - but tried to make up for it by snogging unsuitable boys at most parties I went to, drinking plentifully and experimenting with vomiting in gardens.

At one party I was 'getting off' with a double bassist in the garden, and got Pomagne all over my ra-ra skirt.

cremolafoam · 04/02/2014 20:07

No no no mrs S ! that was Red Witch! Purple nasty has no Pernod in it- rofl
GrinGrin
Ashamed to admit I still know the difference. Blush

Hatty that's great you've found somewhere. I used airb&b for Copenhagen and previously for Paris and London. It's a terrific website. Not least for some amazing property pornShock

cremolafoam · 04/02/2014 20:10

Grin@ pomagne

cremolafoam · 04/02/2014 20:31

cubes and rhomboids this way

bigTillyMint · 04/02/2014 21:35
