53 and menopausal here, and doctor not keen on HRT for me, for various reasons. am grumpy old bat but not sure if simply used to be grumpy young bat.

i remember tdwp but not exactly what went on (cf grumpy, forgetful old bat as above)

hope everyone's had decent day, even if at desk all the time ...

hattymattie · 30/01/2014 16:16

Rudy I used to have a brill gynae who retired. She explained that normally Mirena is for 5 years (I think this is how long the hormones are effective for). After that, she cheerily added, if you're nearing menopause, it can be left in for another couple of years.

I don't want to take it out as I'm afraid I'll get periods and all sorts of menopausal flooding, which I don't have time for. I sort of want to leave well alone.

What is TDWP? - it seems, as usual, I've missed something.

And get you and dinner parties Envy. - I will be dealing with over-excited teenagers, one of whom is terrifyingly nut-allergic.

Though at least I shall then quaff - I fully intend quaffing, not even swigging - with their parents who will remove them from the bosom of the Inferiority Complex.Wink

Is TDWP back? What's happening? I rarely step outside this thread these days!!

Do has caught the lurgy off of ds and is in bed moaning...... Oh joy...

Still no sign of my (mis)directed M&S parcel....

herbaceous · 30/01/2014 19:19

Did sedate ladyjog while DS was in his drama class. Found a way to stop my knees hurting while running, though they hurt afterwards instead.

Now have to gird myself to start C25K week 2.

From what DS is chuntering about in the bath, it seems 'sums' are now called 'number sentences' these days.

No idea what you're talking about re TDWP, or who she is.

Awaiting payment of an invoice I submitted at the end of October. Without it I cannot pay my tax bill. If I don't pay my tax bill, I get charged £100. I have begged and pleaded for payment for 10 days. WIBU to add the inevitable £100 charge on to the next invoice?

hattymattie · 30/01/2014 19:31

Herbs - that is really bad - I would lay it on the line YANBU.

Maybe I'd have been better at maths sums had been called number sentences - more literary Smile.

hattymattie · 30/01/2014 19:31

I'd have been better if sums etc Blush

NUFC69 · 30/01/2014 20:16

Just received my March copy of "Good Food" - there is a Woolovers advertisement and a code for an extra 5% off + free delivery. It's FOOD14, if anyone is interested?

Where do they get these terms from - number sentences indeed! I was driving through Cramlington the other day and went past a sign directing people to the "Learning Village", fgs it's a school.

motherinferior · 30/01/2014 21:33

Add the £100, Herbs.

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 30/01/2014 21:34

Yes, add the £100.

herbaceous · 30/01/2014 23:19

The case for the prosecution is strengthened by the fact that we supposedly have a 'deal', whereby I don't work for anyone else, so I can be at their beck and call, and they pay me like a member of staff. Except they don't - I have to beg for every invoice to be paid. They have cashflow problems, but they aren't my problem.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/01/2014 08:08

I was in M & S last night picking up my Filorga (I got their trial anti wrinkle stuff which contains a tube of a bit of everything, and a large jar of Sleep and Peel, which was £££ but will last forever) and got a bottle of the Lynn Harris Poudree as well. I didn't like the rose one, and the fleur one is nauseatingly and overwhelmingly Tuberose, which I hate. Also got some of those sticky diffuser things in Cologne, so although the flat looks like a shit pit, it does at least smell nice. Dithered a bit over Le Sauvage but decided against it.

M & S was empty last night (apart from the food hall). Their clothes still seem to be very hit and miss. I don't think having a display of Per Una "Speziale" at the entrance entirely helped.

herbaceous · 31/01/2014 08:19

Dammit, Mrs S. I was hoping I could swap my Fleur for another crepey's Poudree or Noir, but it seems you don't like it either. Serves me right for not spraying it on me, just sniffing the top. But I'm very pleased that identified the offending 'note' as tuberose. I was waiting for the woody and musky notes, but they never came.

herbaceous · 31/01/2014 08:22

Oh, and DS is off school today with a temperature and a sore throat. He's gutted at missing the after-school disco, so we might have one ourselves. Or I might drag him along to it anyway, as by that stage he'll be driving me mad.

So, not much work for me today...

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/01/2014 08:24

No, the tuberose completely overwhelmed everything else! I think it is one of those scents that you either love or loathe. The Poudree is not something I would usually wear, but it is quite soft and sweetly pretty - the sort of smell you want when you have had a bath and are curled up in your jammies in front of a film on a Sunday evening.

NUFC69 · 31/01/2014 09:23

I hope DS recovers soon, Herbs.

I am off to the GP (well, phlebotanist - sp?) shortly for my thyroid check up. Fortunately I have a very sympathetic GP who actually has no thyroid at all and knows what it is like when things are out of kilter. My results a couple of months ago meant that I should drop my dosage to 125 mg from 150; however, GP said to see how it went. I felt awful after about a month, so reverted back to 150 until I felt well again, and I am now doing alternate days of 150 and 125. It will be interesting to see what the results are like this time.

motherinferior · 31/01/2014 10:09

That must be helping with the weight loss, I'd have thought?

I am now trying to deal with the designer who has switched her phone off. No doubt to escape me...

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 31/01/2014 10:49

Possibly, MI, but I have been very naughty since the weekend and have actually just eaten a small bar of Dairy Milk - sigh -. I was hoping to persuade the GP to ring me with the results, but they have told me that I need to make an appointment - so 27th February.

Our Health Service up here really is second to none, but the Health Centre is horrendous if you want to see a particular GP. Mind you, it is now 14 days since DH had his endoscopy and we haven't heard from the hospital or GP yet. When I had my gallbladder out almost two years ago, I saw the consultant and he asked me which day the following week I wanted the operation!

I am sat waiting for the phone to ring to go to collect my neighbours from their flight from Thailand via Dubai - wish we had something arranged for the summer. Sad

addle · 31/01/2014 11:40

Herbs and Mrs S - i'm wearing la fleur today and although it's not what i expected i think it smells quite nice on me - perhaps it's partly because you are both blonde and i'm dark? Dior perfumes never suited me but did my blonde friends. DH liked it too, said it smelt clean - always a top compliment.

Good luck at the GP NU.

addle · 31/01/2014 11:40

or of course it could be that i'm just determined to like it because it was a bargain.

herbaceous · 31/01/2014 12:03

That's an interesting theory, addle. I do get on with Dior perfumes! Though I'm not really all that blonde - it's mainly Nice-n-Easy!
