After the brilliant success of our Christmas Countdown Princessing thread I'm starting a new thread to take us to Easter. From 1st Jan it's 108 days so there will be a countdown to this days.

This idea stems from the original princessing threads but has evolved to accommodate all aspects of beautifying, beauty, clothes, diet, exercise etc.

What we like to do is a list of what your planning on doing and working through it.

Links to follow.

As it's January 1st:

Sort through my wardrobe and cull .

Wear more of the clothes hanging there, don't keep for 'nice' (I wore my Uniqlo jumper and my cashmere sweater so I've patted myself on the back)

Book dentist appointment

Be ruthless with the grey- dye my hair when it starts to show, not when I have a 2" root line Blush

Wax legs/ armpits. Just because it's winter doesn't mean I should look like a Yeti

I don't smoke or drink anyway and I'm vegetarian so I can't be cutting anything out there (well maybe the chocolate for Lent)

Don't buy any cheap clothes (Primark) except their T- Shirts. Their jumpers. trousers and underwear do not flatter my ageing body, they are a false economy.

Buy a good pair of flattering jeans (my current 3 pairs of Tesco bootcuts are getting tatty)

I'm going to try to spend more time on my appearance. Eating healthier, caring about clothes, using more beauty products lol, exercising more.

Back on the wagon tomorrow Karbea - it's a marathon not a sprint Grin

Lucysmam was it the cable? You can order replacement cables off eBay and there are videos on YouTube for replacing the cable, means you can fix your own for the sake of about a fiver and a few minutes with the screwdriver! Smile

Helga have you complained via Twitter about your Internet? We had 6m of trouble with BT - missed appointments, lies from the call centre... We're with TalkTalk now - half the price and none of the service issues!

Not doing very well with getting to bed earlier today...! But on the plus side I have eaten lots of salad and fruit today and drank lots of water.

It's not BT. I'm in ROI and it's Eircom that have the phone lines.

Sitting on train to work with make up on as opposed to putting it on whilst in the carriage. Have coloured my eyebrows which I rarely do. I am really unsure about it! Does using a body puff count as exfoliation? Also managed to remember earrings, watch, lunch and aveeno on body ! Baby steps..baby steps need to get some water in me!

Some really good ideas here. My list:
Drink more water (I've got a jug-full on my desk. Now I've just got to actually drink it)
Sort out wardrobe - chuck stuff I've not worn for ages
Get back to the gym three times a week before work. It's a total waste of money at the moment.
I own my own bodyweight in creams, lotions, body butter etc. I will NOT buy any more until I've used them all up.
Stop eating crap and drink less wine.
And I love the suggestion a long way up thread about being generally nicer, so I will try to stop being a grump for the first hour of the day!

I am absolutely exhausted, new puppy is killing me :(

I know it's a marathon not a sprint, just angry with myself that I can't even do a day. But to be fair to myself there is very little healthy food in the house to snack on.

I ordered a couple of toners yesterday, I'm pretty much out of the one I was using, the thing I have loads of (I'm using up products I already have) is face wash, and body lotion. I became a bit obsessed with face washes when my skin was bad, I've lined them all up in the bathroom cupboard. Was glad to only get one body lotion this year, and as I'm using it every day hopefully by this time next year I might have used it all up!

Dh is going back to work today, so I can plan and get some healthy food.

We should all resolve to be fair to ourselves, and kind too Karbea. Reading through some of these lists there are a lot of mumsnetters feeling very harsh about themselves. Today is a new day...

Is anyone doing Joy Jars this year? Where you write down things that have happened which were your bit of joy for that day/week then tip out and read on new years day? Thought it was a nice idea!

Helga fingers crossed that Eircom get moving pronto for you.

Blondie I know what you mean but I think its being kind to myself that has got me into this state - 'oh I've had a hard day, I deserve cake', 'yes I'm tired, I can't cook a meal I'll eat this convenient calorie laden food instead', 'I'm so tired I really don't have time to exercise or cleanse my skin properly, I'll just sit here and then have an early night'
See? I need a General to shout at me :)

I love the idea of Joy Jars. My sister was telling me about them but I think dh would think I was a sentimental old fool. I might do a Joy Notebook instead.

karbea I remember my kitten days very well. It really is exhausting. Be kind to yourself though. To steal from flylady, you are not behind - just jump in right where you are

blondie I suggested to DP about us doing a joint joy jar. He gave me a very Hmm look so I think that's a no! I'm doing the 365 photo-a-day challenge though.

Ironing
Shower
Hair washed and conditioned

Thanks Blondie, it's the seal but we can't get the retaining ring to hold it in place & you can't take the front off my washer like you can most others to get to it. You seem to need ten pairs of hands in there to get the bloody thing to stay put.

Am just washing brekky pots (lie in day apparently! would have been nice if the kids had let me know in advance so I could stay asleep instead of pootle about t'internet on my phoneHmm )

Morning routine needs a kick up the bum so will go and find myself something vaguely smart to wear to the birthday party, get a proper wash & put a proper face of make up on shortly.

Have a good day everyone Smile

Oh god Helga. Eircom. Even the name gives me nightmares Wink hope it gets sorted soon.

Today was a little slow to start in relation to good intentions, but ta-dah's are:

  • walked around zoo with kids so good exercise and fresh air
  • drank litres of water because it was so blooming hot
  • remembered suncream & hat
  • did 15 minutes on exercise bike
  • defuzzed in shower after exercise
  • bio oil, night cream, hand cream and foot cream
  • and I even refused an icecream at the zoo! Grin

Now tucked up in bed hoping DD2 will perform her rare and magical trick of sleeping through the night (twice this month - one night DD1 woke up at 1am instead, the other was NYE when I was up til 3am talking to Mum & then she woke at 6 for the day!)

I like the joy jar idea, Blondie. Definitely going to do that.

Today I have:

Drank quite a bit of water already, no tea or coffee.
Had healthy breakfast
Given baby his breakfast
Dressed in jeans and nice new jumper
Cleaned kitchen
Ordered moisturiser, serum and eye cream for new skincare regime.

Still to do:

Sort out trunk in bedroom with scarves, hats and wooly jumpers in. Lots of things in there can be donated/chucked.
Dust lounge.
Go out for usual 1 hour walk and drop off repeat prescription at doctors on my way.
Do a load of laundry.

Feeling quite positive today, maybe because it has finally stopped raining!

Control what's the 365 photo challenge? A photo for every day of the year? I like the sound of that.

Joy jars sound a nice idea too...think that might be something nice to do with the kids as a weekly thing too. I think someone posted a link to them earlier in the thread.

I'm stuck at a birthday party with the girls Confused Did try to get dp to come but he looked at me like Hmm

Wolfcub threading is the way to go for eyebrows!! Makes a real difference having them done properly. I'm quite Sad most of my handbags are hidden in a suitcase somewhere in the garage from moving so I can't swap and change like I usually do.

What sort of bag are you looking for?

Report
Wolfcub · 02/01/2014 14:14

Smelly, I need a bag that will fit a medium red dog bag pod and an a5 diary and notebook as a minimum,a4 would be a bonus but not essential. It has to be leather and preferably black or red. I have a red dog handbag but it hasn't stood up to use as well as I'd have liked so I won't buy another. I'm open to suggestions, it must be able to be carried on the shoulder. I could spend up to 140 at a push but it would have to be the perfect bag for that

Also have booked Brazilian and full leg wax for tomorrow lunch break Shock

Bought Sally Hansen nail strengthener (tried shellac twice but I don't have time for the appointments really and end up picking it off so try to do my own ordinary manicures) as nails are currently horrid and peeling

Did my 50 squats last night will so again tonight

Using my fitness pal again abs eating healthy!

Will cycle to work tomorrow (couldn't today as loads to carry!)
