Kate spade hello you've just reminded me to look at ka bags too!
Off to do that and look at everyone's links from this evening.

Hi Kate

i am a firm believer in keeping graduation attire fairly conservative especially after watching students totter up the steps and across the stage in heels they cannot walk in like wobbly baby Giraffes. It is a formal occasion after all.

I like both dresses. Day dresses/daywear is the way to go I think. No super short/slit to the crotch clothes (Like I saw at Leeds University Graduation last year), no ball gowns (yep, saw them too), no strapless (yep, saw them too).

Good luck and congratulations!

I like both dresses too Kate and the warehouse one is very pretty.

Well my thinking is that they'll mostly be covered up by the robe anyway, and the black skater dress i could wear for a night out aswell.

Or the other option is a leather pencil skirt and white shirt?

I would love to wear a full length sequin ball gown, but i do realise how stupid i will look. I just have to find another event to wear one too for 2014!

Welcome Kate. I like dress one the best. The glam glow mask looks good.

Marsha I meant to comment on the MbMJ sweater - I really like it! You'll have to pin a pic when it arrives. Don't feel bad about talking me out of the JCrew jumper - I appreciated the feedback. I do need to lose a few kilos and I just wouldn't wear anything too fitted ATM.

And to confuse you even more, I like number 2 kate ..... We really don't know what you look like so all a bit subjective really. All three would be fine and are very lovely. Congratulations on your graduation.

Thankyou all so much. i shall show my mother tomorrow and then get ordering. Why on earth we couldn't have our graduation in the summer just gone, when we all finished i have no idea. Instead, its cold rainy January!

I'm going to be posting at crazy hours as I'm +9 hours gmt! It's very lonely this time of day, as the uk sleeps I'm just waking up...

I have been totally spoilt since I was last on this thread. Slowly getting rid of all the old/ too big/ too small clothes and replacing it with quality. I have a fair few pieces of Joseph which seems to be dominatingy waredrobe right now. The cut of Joseph fits me perfectly (not the dresses for some reason so just sent two back)

By the summer I will have a truly classic capsual waredrobe Smile it's my birthday in two weeks and the biggest nap box has arrives

I had to send back two iris and ink jumpers Sad
They were angora and in my ignorance didn't realise how badly the rabbits were treated. The fb posts put me completely off. They were beautiful too. I did wear one before I realized and it shrunk 5cm when dried cleaned so it was best they went back.

I manged to come back to the uk at the start of dec, I didn't venture out to the shops (my home town isn't very good anyway) I did however get a few outnet, flannels boxes set to me.

We had a night away in the glorious babington house. Has anyone been? It's our second visit and I just love sitting in the bar watching all the media darlings air kissing and the fake bored look they have all adopted Wink

The Canada goose jackets we purchased have been a god send, it was cold in the UK but even colder here. It's my first sensible, warm jacket!

Back later for tips on nail care...

Katespade, I think I prefer dress one, I like the cut of dress two but I'm not too keen on the colour. Although it might be because that colour just wouldn't suit me. Congratulations on the graduation too Smile

Phew - what a week! Need to catch up properly but wanted to drop by to wish you all my compliments of the season. From my brief read-through it sounds as though great Christmases have been had by all. My presents have not exactly come up to any of your standards, but given DH's past form, this is not surprising. He asked DD1 to get me something from him and so my present was a too big tweed checked jacket from Jack Wills that MIL would have loved but made me feel rather frumpy. Also DD bought a size 10 (when it's already a boyfriend-type fit) and I'm never more than an 8. I did not like it and it made me feel old and yucky so it's going back. My present from DD1 was a sweater from Fat Face (again a huge size 10) that looked like something a Happy Mondays fan circa 1991 might appreciate (ie not me). Thank heaven for DSis who was my Secret Santa and bought me a gorgeous forest green embellished sweater and calf hair leopard print belt from J Crew. I know I sound ungrateful, but I'm more a bit peeved that so little thought was put into my presents - they were clearly not my kind of thing at all and obviously bought in a hurry at the last minute.

Lol Dry! It's ok here are you SW London? no idea if they're louder over there.

Grumpy what a shame about the presents. Love the sound of the calf hair J Crew belt. If anyone sees one in the sales let me know.

Barbie all sounds great, especially big NaP box.

Morning everyone!

Grumpy, so sorry your presents weren't thoughtfulSad

Linus, hope ds is better

Liberty hope you're better and not arguing with dh!

Welcome back to Barbie and blooming

Hello to Kate (I prefer the warehouse dress too, then the red then the black) and Em,

We came to pils yesterday and are here till tomorrow. Am hiding in bed because jet lagged dn was up and screaming at 3am and am knackered!

So, this year dsil got me a lovely throw from white company and herb pots too. Dpils got me a great handbag, beautiful compact mirror and, slipper boots. They all loved their presents.

Dh's family are slightly odd in that they put sooo much effort into my presents and put no effort whatsoever into his present. (Not sure if that's a mumsnet first?). Poor dh. He gets hurt by it every year. So now my family are all aware of it (his family are totally oblivious!) and they make sure they go out of their way to get him really thoughtful and spot on presents. My brother hi fived me this year because dh was so happy with the present db had got him, and I had tipped him offGrin

I wore my jcrew embellished jumper yesterday with j crew matchstick jeans. Today, I think my new Karen millen chunky cream jumper with j crew black skinny jeans.

Have a great day!

Dry - when I was a toddler I used to ask my mum to phone the airport and stop the planes. I don't even notice them now!

Grumpy - sorry to hear of your present disappointment - exchange/refund. I was annoyed for a nano-second that DH had bought me the wrong colour pea-coat (navy instead of plum) until I realised navy is more versatile anyway.

Good haul this Christmas - etre cecile T with a big C on it (my last name), Kenzo tiger ring, Uniqlo pea coat and Jimmy Choo glitter high tops. All fab and very me. The Pinterest board definitely works!

Help!!
Dh has ordered me another box from nap, but stupidly didn't check the address and it's being sent to our old address in France! We have no idea why this happened as the other two boxes have reached us.

We called nap as soon as we could and they said not to worry the would inform dhl....we called back as we could see the package was in transit, the customer service advisor said the lady who took our first called failed to put a note on the system and therefore she would.

Just looked and it's due to be delievered today! Called nap and they confirmed they failed to inform dhl, all we can do is hope the recievers are honest and don't sign.

Anyone had something like this happen? Please tell me it had a good outcome

MarshaBrady · 27/12/2013 08:56

Barbie can you call dhl directly? With the tracking number. They're good here but be tricky as o/s?

Report
MarshaBrady · 27/12/2013 08:57

Here DHL will contact the driver directly .

Morning!

Sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to London! Yay!

DS is fine and complains more about his tongue hurting (he bit it on both sides) than his chin.

Looks like it is going to be a bumpy ride as the winds are terrible here and the plane is tiny. Shock

Don't worry barbie, something similar happened to me,with luisa via Roma, the FedEx system read my husbands last name, and they sent it to another person in another city with our exact family name, tons of phone calls were done between FedEx and LVR,both didnt help,it was the receiver who refused to take the package! And said that it must be a mistake and should be double checked.i received it a week later, vowed never to shop with them again! But it was short lived as they sent me 25% off code as an apology Grin.

And ani had a similar incident with her marant boots I think,!

Linus the winds are terrible here too, have a safe journey.
Barbie if you informed nap and they failed to contact the courier then it's up to them to sort and be responsible for. Hopefully they can send a replacement out ASAP.

Totally get the peeved feeling Grumpy. DH and I are not good at buying for each other, he hasn't a clue about what I like and he is very picky so I never get it right! We give each other lists which takes all the stress out of it.

Dry one of my close friends lives in Richmond and I generally feel twitchy after 3 or 4 hours in her house because of the constant plane noise and have to get out of there. There was a study recently that found significant raised risk of heart problems for people living under the Heathrow flight paths.

Novice great pressies.
marsha and Amber SW yes. Just moaning .....grew up in the flight path of Concorde ! Remember being in bed as a child counting the seconds until I couldn't hear it anymore. Used to make the most incredible racket and lasted ages. Thank god that plane doesn't fly anymore

I forgot to delete my old address and matches sent 2 pairs of Rag and Bone boots to my old address.

Luckily they weren't in, and a neighbour took them in.
I went to the neighbour's house (luckily only a couple of miles away) and collected the boots.

Obviously you can't do that.

Have you tried ringing dhl and explaining the situation?
At least then they could check with NaP before delivering.
