marsha and want about shopping? Are Fab Aussie brands like sass&bide and willow cheaper there?

Mignonette · 04/01/2014 10:46

Liberty i'm sorry I missed your MiniLibertys birthday

Here's some belated Cake for her- it it still fresh!

That flight is epic Marsha. When I first went to South Korea it took 27 hours in total via Rome, Abu Dhabi, Taipei, Seoul then Pusan with layovers of hours. It was more like a rural bus route! Takes a lot less time now thank goodness.

MarshaBrady · 04/01/2014 10:49

I find them really expensive Santa! When we first went over a decade ago for a holiday dh and I lived like kings. Everything was so cheap. Now the dollar is so strong and I gasp at the cost.

It may be more a beach holiday than shopping, not sure yet. Depends if we go to Melbourne for a couple of nights.

MarshaBrady · 04/01/2014 10:50

Once we flew through NYC then to LA then to Aus. Ok we stopped in NYC for a weekend. But it was sooo long. Crazy.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 04/01/2014 10:54

Morning!
mig - love the outfit. I echo Dry's sentiments and would suggest the choc too. The more you speak of Brogues, the more I want some. I passed a girl in town a couple of evenings ago who was wearing the most delicious pair - somehow a little delicate, textured patent and an edible shade of raisin. I almost chased her down the street to ask her where she got them (but then I grabbed hold of myself!)

Dry you need to try the cake - according to the blurb on the box, they ship worldwide. It is soaked in a rum syrup with little nibbly nuts speckled in it. I have a feeling I'll be putting in regular orders.

Novice sorry to hear you're all so sick, but yay on exchanging! The notion of a dressing room is just lovely. DH is intent of turning the playroom into his dressing room (yes, he is worse than me), but I think he expects me to organise it all for him. We use the playroom as an overflow guest room atm which may be lost, so I'm not too happy about that and am reluctant to help him.

Has anyone seen the 'Change 4 Life' ad? Such a pile of crap! Swap sugary drinks for sugar-free (ie saccharin), butter for low-fat spread (wtf?!). It was swiftly followed by a change 4 life sponsored ad for Asda's fish'n'toppings range. I was left opening and closing my mouth like an Asda fish afterwards. I can't believe it was compiled by an actual nutritionist - it was like a throwback to the 1950s.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 04/01/2014 10:58

Forgot to add Cake for Mig Jr. Happy birthday!

Also Foxy I prefer heavy jersey leggings from Hush for travelling long haul and I always pack a thick pair of socks for changing into. You can't go wrong with layers - drapey Cos cardigans, cashmere throws/scarves and anything snuggly and cocooning.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 04/01/2014 12:13

Random Q: I intend to stay home all day today (recovering from all the travelling around the Christmas period) but need to go out to do grocery shoping.

Makeup or bare face? I'm trying to wear makeup more often, but it seems a bit of a waste for just one hour...

Drywhiteplease · 04/01/2014 12:22

Who mentioned " puts and other bits" ? On MNV! Shock

grumpy can I pop down for a cuppa and a slice? Couldn't possibly trust myself with the whole cake .... I'm a sucker for a nutty, boozy fruit cake! ......... Bloody hell , come to think of it I am a nutty, boozy fruit cake Grin

novice you're not having a good time of it. Focus on the fab dressing room. Shame about the Pashli, many more bags in the store though Grin

All this talk about clear seas and beaches.... Am itching to buy summer stuff, no! No! No!

My DH is funny.... Jan 1 he likes to have a meeting where we plan our year. In the last couple of days we've planned and booked all our holidays ( v exciting), booked in 3 dinner parties and started visiting showrooms for our big extension . Love to have my year planned out..... Need stuff to look forward to.

Drywhiteplease · 04/01/2014 12:26

justa I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm opposite to most in almost everything. I wear make up all the time ( gym, giving birth etc) .... Very vain.( I look horrendous without it , wouldn't want to scare folks)

shopafrolic · 04/01/2014 12:29

Because I go make up free one day a week - usually on a Sunday when we don't see many people Grin

Mignonette · 04/01/2014 12:41

It was me- coarse old me Dry.

Grumpy you make those Brogues sound very covetable. I like Brogues- they appeal to the nearly dormant Convent Girl inside!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 04/01/2014 13:31

Dry, I apologize in advance for asking, but...don't you find the makeup smears and melts when exercising? I'm the worst sweater in the universe; after every yoga practice I'm a hot mess and my hair is plastered to my head...it would not be pretty at all!

Decameron · 04/01/2014 13:41

I don't like to wear much makeup but definitely need mascara at a minimum!

Hope all get well soon in the Casa Novice.

Happy birthday to your DD, Mig! Enjoy the meal out. I like grey with pink. Did she like her presents?

Noticed my very expensive DVF navy silk shirt is coming apart after one wear, I hope Matches refund me. I have this shirt and this on the way from Atterley Road. Has your Julie Brandt shirt arrived, Liberty? Mine was too big and peach rather than pink which doesn't suit me.

Bon voyage, Foxy!

QueenCadbury · 04/01/2014 13:43

Happy birthday mini mig. I'll check out your FB page. Is it just you updating it? I do one for our toddler group and find it a pita to update regularly hence it's never updated.

because I wouldn't necessarily bother for a quick shopping trip. But I don't mind being make up free.

novice you have my sympathies. Norovirus is a bugger. Those vomit drops get everywhere and infect everyone. Are you keeping the red Pashli and the proenza?

foxy have a fabulous trip

dry Envy that you have your holiday booked. I have to literally nag dh about booking time off work. He just never gets round to it and of course nothing can be booked until it's confirmed. I just looked at centre parcs for a weekend in Easter hols but for longleat it's over £600. It's just so much for 3 nights.

QueenCadbury · 04/01/2014 13:45

Oh, must tell you that I went to the tip earlier. I was loading the car and had my Birkenstocks (my outdoor slippers) on with socks and it was only when I got to the tip that I realised that I still had them on and had forgot to change Grin

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 04/01/2014 13:46

mig I vote grey.

OP posts:
Mignonette · 04/01/2014 13:53

Decam She's coming tonight to get them as is shopping up a storm in Cambridge and has just booked a holiday to Sharm El Sheikh too.

Queen It is just me doing FB, Twitter and the website. Too much work but interesting and I am getting writing commissions for copy on other organisation websites/brochures and for online foodie sites.

Am laughing at the Birkenstocks/socks combination.

QueenCadbury · 04/01/2014 14:03

mig it all looks very good. I'm assuming it's a voluntary role? But as you say if you're getting commissions from it it's fantastic.

Still in my dressing gown Shock although am showered and hair washed! About to get ready to go for drinks and nibbles. Not sure what to wear as most of my jeans are dirty. I may have to wear my black ones which I haven't worn yet this winter although I normally love them but they just haven't felt right for some reason.

Does anyone else wear black jeans?

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 04/01/2014 14:06

Birkenstocks and socks Shock queenC that's fabGrin

because no need to apologise, ask me anything! I always wear waterproof mascara that would stay put in a tsunami.....I'm not a great sweater, only in spinning in the summer, but it seems to stay put.

Today I feel a need for colour.....So am wearing Gap real straight, black and white fitted breton and an emerald green fitted cardigan to potter round the house.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 04/01/2014 14:09

Queen, I bought a pair of skinny black jeans this winter and have been wearing them so much that now they've turned a nice shade of grey.

I actually have a whole wardrobe full of jeans/trousers that I should clean out - don't fit into most of them Sad

BrandyAlexander · 04/01/2014 14:10

MarshaEnvyEnvy. Reminds me that one holiday, we had a choice of flying via Sydney or via LAX. I chose LA because flying via Sydney just seemed too weird! Of course back then I hadn't appreciated that LAX is of course one of the worlds worst airportsShock

Dry, I am just like your dhGrin I book theatre tickets for next 6 months, make dinner reservations and book holidays in first week of Jan!

Santa, I am going to ask dh when he materialises from having his head down the toilet as to which one we are getting as it sounds very similar. Years ago, I was dating an American and he introduced me to his family. A bit like Elizabeth Bennett I fell for him the moment I saw their magnificent houseWink since then, I have wanted a house with that kind of whizzy stuff. (Err that's about technical as I get!)

QueenC, yes right now it's the Proenza and red Pashli but actually I think the Pashli might just be too big for me. With the house exchange, dh will be more relaxed!

And to end on something random, I was looking at that picture of Marsha and admiring her long torso and long legs.Envy

Drywhiteplease · 04/01/2014 14:20

Yes Envy too

QueenCadbury · 04/01/2014 14:21

I'm looking forward to gaps spring collection. There's a new creative director who used to be at cos.

OP posts:
Mignonette · 04/01/2014 14:29

Queen yes it is but I have five ads pending which will bring in some £££. Very pleased about that and 450 twitter followers in five weeks. Getting there!

Grin at that Marsha photo- very lean. Very French Vogue.

Mignonette · 04/01/2014 14:29

I meant Grin as in at the comments, not laughing at Marsha Blush
