Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Happy birthday amber. Enjoy winter wonderland Wine Cake

My dh is a saver too and panics if we have to use our savings. Er, isn't that what they're for Xmas Hmm. He's also obsessed with saving for dc future which is fine as I realise we may need to pay secondary school fees, uni etc but I don't see why we should need to help them more than that. He however got loads of financial help from his parents when he bought his first house whereas I've never had any and yet I still managed to buy a flat on a nurses salary. I keep telling him that his dads salary as a doctor probably wasn't that much less than his is now yet the cost of living has risen considerably.

I've been thinking more about the best buys etc and new year fashion resolutions. I don't always buy into the idea that the more expensive the garment the better quality but I am happy to pay if you get a better design than you would ever find on the high st eg the viv westwood dress. But when you consider that was originally a grand and I bought it for £300 and they would have still been making a profit on that price Hmm. Now that dd is older and less chance of mucky fingerprints on my clothes I'm more likely to start buying slightly more expensive clothes.

I'm determined to try on new jeans next year not necessarily premium but different brands to gap which I've lived in for years. I won't be doing skinny anytime soon though as I just find them too restrictive but that's fine as now I know tht thy don't fit in with my fashion personality. I'd like to find some new straight legs.

Anyway, that ended up an essay Grin. Now tell me what a 40 year old should wear to a wonderstuff concert..?

happy birthday amber Wine Cake

novice how are things with you?

dry that REALLY made me laugh! love brie de meaux, have a huge chunk of it on my next ocado delivery plus oatcakes and some seriously great wine, mmmm.

am v v v premenstrual which is horrid. face has erupted, feel bloated and yuck. have THREE parties over the weekend, starting tomorrow afternoon, and feel completely out of the festive mood. i usually LOVE this time of year, harumph. [grinchy grump]

fashion choices today about comfort - worn in and new favourites. old ripped diesel straight leg jeans, yellow neon j crew tee and new grey/leopard sweatshirt.

for 2014 i'm considering tactics! i have never had such a great wardrobe and clear sense of myself when it comes to the clothes I buy and wear. there have been very few mistakes this year, although there are some, and other stuff hasn't worn as well as I would have hoped. so....

  • i definitely want to buy less, maybe one item every few months on average.
  • I would really love a balenciaga city, so might save for one over the year and get it in time for my birthday next december.
  • I would also like to buy as ethically as possible, but am scared where that particular can of worms may lead...

Hello gorgeous people. Am slightly tipsy after a wonderfully Christmassy day. After breakfast we went to Liberty to replace the bauble. Ha. But the show is correct, they have under-ordered and there is bugger all left. Then we went out to lunch in Soho and indulged in lovely food and champers. Good times! But it's my version of the Christmas lunch.

So mwah to you all, you lovely people. You're brill Thanks

Liberty excellent!

Foxy sounds fabulous. But ah for feeling rubbish, hope you feel better for the parties.

Mignonette · 19/12/2013 16:09

Marsha you do sound tipsy Xmas Grin. It's lovely.

Foxy feel fabulous soon Flowers.

Idris Elba answered my (rather silly) questions!

Drywhiteplease · 19/12/2013 16:14

Foxy I'm coming over!!!!!
Fashion resolutions, Xmas Hmm. I'm just going to continue buying less tat and less black. I think black near my face makes me look old.
QueenC I agree that expensive does not always mean better, but I hate synthetic fibres so natural fibres often (not always) cost more.
Marion Cotillard Marsha yes! I love her

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 17:48

I've collected my prize from Anna. And am now the proud owner of the slate cashmere sweater and the snake print scarf.
Marsha KEEP DRINKING - you're hilarious when merry MWAH back atcha

AmberNectarine · 19/12/2013 19:07

Thanks for kind wishes all - having a lovely, lovely day. Started off with all four of us having cuddles in bed, then we dropped the kids off at nursery and went for a full English. Ate far too much, then on to winter wonderland for skating and mulled wine. Then for a browse round Harvey Nics - didn't buy anything despite there being 30% off, holding out for sales. Then fizz followed by cocktails before collecting the kids from my parents. Now putting them to bed before a bath while DH wraps my presents. A really perfect day!

OneLittleLady · 19/12/2013 19:22

Sounds lovely Amber Xmas Smile

LinusDKD · 19/12/2013 19:23

Evening!

marsha you seem to have enjoyed yourself today!

And you too amber! Sounds like you had the perfect day.

shop piccies please of you wearing your prize.

I ordered my first Me&Em item this winter, a navy ruched dress that was 40% off and today they had an extra 20% off, so it would have been rude not to.

I have been lusting after a scarf for ages but I'm not sure the colours would suit me. I will link on MNV and then you can give me your opinion. Please?

LinusDKD · 19/12/2013 19:47

Oh, I think WIT is wearing my J Crew lace skirt today!

I haven't worn it yet as it will be one of my Christmas outfits but I still need inspration on how to wear it.

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 20:21

Anyone watching Alex Polizzi's Christmas fizz?

Mignonette · 19/12/2013 20:25

LinusDKD · 19/12/2013 20:28

I am taping it.

DH is watching Tudor Monastery Farm Hmm

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 20:31

My decorations look shite. I need more bling. You have to watch it linus it's much more up my street than Kirstie.

MarshaBrady · 19/12/2013 20:44

Haha Shop I stopped at three glasses of champagne. Seemed a good idea as ds2 demanded my attention this evening.

Linus it was fun. Dh booked loads of holiday ages ago as we thought we'd be in Aus at Christmas not February, so we are having a rather indulgent week. Really rather nice having free time in lead up to Christmas.

Glasses saga, argh. I did not know I should try and get the PD (pupillary distance) for new glasses. Grr. Did anyone else experience this? How did you get it?

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 20:58

Never heard of PD honey sorry.

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 21:00

I've just realised I have no clue what to wear on Christmas Day. Cue instant panic. Jeans won't cut it will they?

libertychick · 19/12/2013 21:02

I'll be wearing jeans on xmas day but it's only the 3 of us and there will be a long walk at some point.

I LOVE Gracie! I think she suits me perfectly. Thanks again Marsha. I have never heard of PD either sorry.

Excellent Liberty, I'm really pleased!

shopafrolic · 19/12/2013 21:29

libertychick · 19/12/2013 21:35
