Calling on style and fashion fanatics, this is the space for frivolity and fun (though it gets a bit tense at sales time) Wink. All welcome.

Marsha am fairly sure dh pays around that for his, after all they get worn every day so cpw is negligible after 2 years.
Coffee machine Marsha! See above!

RubyLovesShopping · 17/12/2013 14:58

Grumpy that's Grin!

MarshaBrady · 17/12/2013 15:00

Sorry Ruby I just saw your name and coffee machine blasted into my brain at the same time Grin

So anyway, the old one wasn't making great coffee, but I ended up switching to black Lavazza stuff and it made all the difference, I just need that creamy foam. So after that long thread we didn't update! But might do anyway soon. Let me know if you get one.

I find it tricky, I'd have to try the coffee first maybe. Perhaps Gaggia?

RubyLovesShopping · 17/12/2013 15:00

Novice I've just remembered I didn't ever post the pic if our guest room in the duck egg, what did you go for in the end? Hope you feel better soon.

MarshaBrady · 17/12/2013 15:00

Grumpy that's funny, sure I've done something like that!

RubyLovesShopping · 17/12/2013 15:06

this from tesco as they have a further £100 off bean to cup machines ( and will deliver it to my local village store tomorrow) Or yes the gaggia equivalent which is much more ££. I've wondered about tasting but even if I go to John Lewis don't think they do trying out...do they?

RubyLovesShopping · 17/12/2013 15:08

Think one of you will politely ask me to leave soonGrinGrin first men's coats then domestic appliances!! I promise only to talk about clothes from now on.

MarshaBrady · 17/12/2013 15:09

No way Ruby we love little segues into Vogue Living, Travel etc Grin

MarshaBrady · 17/12/2013 15:10

Not sure if they do, but I am so finicky about coffee, it has to be perfect. That one looks good, definitely go for a reduced one I think, loads around.

libertychick · 17/12/2013 15:10

Xmas Grin at Grumpy a common mistake I assure you!

Nollaig Shona Duit to you and yours Decam. Safe travelling!

Thanks Marsha - am so excited. This is my first designer bag Xmas Blush

liberty I have no idea! That said, I am the queen of accidents, I'm forever hurting myself on something or other so this does not take me by surprise!

Annianni · 17/12/2013 15:27

Ruby, I think that Selfridges do coffee taste test things, at Trafford.

Annianni · 17/12/2013 15:57

I have an aibu/wwyd, but obviously far too scared to venture onto aibu Xmas Smile

If you went to someone's house (unannounced)
How many times would you knock on the door, even if you thought someone was home?
You have never been inside this house, you've only ever posted a birthday or Christmas card, so not like close friends, where you'd try the back door etc.

At lunch time today, 12-10 to be exact... I spotted dh's ex mil marching towards our house.
So, as you can imagine I hid in the bedroom :o
And text dh saying she was outside
We were in the middle of a text argument at the time, and I was a bit upset so not exactly wanting visitors.

I assumed that she would be posting Christmas cards.
(dsd took our cards round yesterday, but her grandmother wasn't in)

I didn't think she would ring the doorbell, on a day when she knows dsd is at college and dh's car wasn't outside.

But ring the doorbell she did, interspersed with rattling the letter box, and knocking on the windows for 28 FUCKING MINUTES!?!

Yes, my car was outside and yes she probably saw that the tv was on... And she might have seen a little 2 year old peep out the window before running upstairs to find me...

But come on, seriously... You'd ring once or twice then walk away. Or any sane person would!?
Dh ended up ringing my mobile, as he didn't believe me when I said she'd rung the doorbell 12 times.

I wanted to go down, and ask her what on earth she was doing.
Even if you saw the tv etc and thought someone was in, you'd think that they were obviously busy, in the bath, on the loo or just did not want visitors!

libertychick · 17/12/2013 16:02

Sorry Anni that made me laugh! Sounds like she really wanted to talk to you...any idea why? Maybe if she saw your DS she was worried about where you were?

OP posts:
libertychick · 17/12/2013 16:23

Anni worried now that you think I'm not taking you seriously! To answer your actual question IMO the vast majority of sane people would have left after 2 rings.

OP posts:
Annianni · 17/12/2013 16:23

She was very kind towards dh when they were divorcing. She's probably a very nice woman and obviously, she's dsd's grandmother.

But dsd tends to visit her on a Monday, her day off from college. And she (dsd) was bound to be visiting again soon, with it being Christmas etc.

My thought was that she wanted a snoop round the house. She lived local to dh's old house, and would pop round often...

She, and her other daughter wanted invites to our very small wedding (they didn't get them) and kept hinting about coming to see the new house etc.

But we have distanced ourselves since we moved.

As frankly, we couldn't care less about the latest escapes of the ex, which she would always tell dh about. And she was a bit too friendly to me iykwim

Dsd is old enough to visit people by herself, and is happy about that.

Now... when she'd finally left, I found 2 small gift bags (for dsd) hidden behind my car. Which I thought was odd, as dsd always visits nearer Christmas.
And they've not said they're going away.

Aibu would say I'm an anti social cow, leaving her on the door step... But come on!!!

Annianni · 17/12/2013 16:58

Update...

Dsd spoke to that crazy woman her g'ma yesterday, and was/is supposed to be going to her house on Friday morning.

So... I think she was definitely after a snoop!

Drywhiteplease · 17/12/2013 18:23

Evening.....couldn't wait until 6pm, have had my glass of white wine needs must Xmas Grin

Zara sequinned jumper is a pile of pulled crap. I knew it when I saw it in the shop but thought I'd risk it, spent half an hour re threading the pulls through this evening. Still a nice sweater but I wouldn't buy this yarn again.

Not sure whether my toe's broken. Looks the same shape, bit purple, not too swollen.....I'm reckon it's just badly bruised, but hurst still. I'm tough, I'll survive!

Decam have a brilliant Christmas
Mig WITT coat, I wouldn't wear it but that isn't to say it wouldn't look great on someone else. But.....I'm wary of cheap fake fur, in my experience it looks a bit mangey after a while.
Anni I'd knock twice then go......YANBU.

COFFEE MAKER this is my type of coffee maker....can't remember who asked! I've been told it's fab should be amazing for the price no pods for me,just ground coffee beans, yum.

Sleep my iPad puts question marks in the most inappropriate places, when I want a comma, too.Xmas Angry

LinusDKD · 17/12/2013 19:23

Evening!

Wow, it took me ages to catch up, but here goes.

sleep who steals a Christmas wreath?! That would really piss me off.

decam Merry Christmas and safe travels.

dry you must be exhausted after today! Take good care of your toe.

mig I actually like that coat on WITT but could not pull that one off myself. But dry is right, it might look cheap IRL.

grumpy that Ipod story is soo funny. and sounds like something I might do

anni it really sounds like Dgran has some boundary issues. It must be really hard for you.

novice (((hugs))) you sound really rundown.

one enjoy the wine and a small slice of cake tonight.

marsha IME lenses are more expensive than the frame itself. But DH calls me the Hubble Telescope as I have such bad eyesight so my lenses need to be made very slim to fit the frame.

Poor DC both have ear infections so today has been a challenge. They're now in bed all doped up so I hope we are going to have a quiet night. But I'm not holding my breath. Sad

In fashion news, my Matches order arrived at DPIL today! I only ordered yesterday! Very impressed!

Oh and my midnight Jalouses arrived as well. Can't wait to try them on when we get to DPIL!

AmberNectarine · 17/12/2013 19:35

Ah, you'll be fine dry - I broke my foot a while back in the summer (stepping on it with the other foot in stilettos- may have been shitfaced slightly merry). Only occurred to me it might have been broken when I realised about 2 months later there was now a big boney protrusion where there hadn't been before. X rays confirmed it had indeed been broken and had healed badly but I doubt I'll get it reset! Not one of my finer moments.

Am almost ready for another drink now!

Mignonette · 17/12/2013 19:40

Anni That made me laugh as I am just like that. I hide too for all kinds of really daft as a brush reasons!

Sleepwhenidie · 17/12/2013 19:42

Hi all, yes I am still Xmas Angry about the wreath each time I look at the front door. To whoever did it - seriously, NOT in the Christmas spirit dudes Xmas Hmm.

Grumpy - durr at the ipod fiasco Xmas Grin!

Marsha - can't wait to see your new specs!

Decam merry christmas! Have a good one.

Anni Xmas Grin at you hiding in bedroom for half an hour whilst dgran outside - but yes she sounds slightly unhinged.

Novice hope you feel better soon, better this week than next eh? Early night for you.

I had planned to be kickboxing this evening but have caught a horrible cold off the DC's, so am sitting with wine, burning christmas scented candles and roasting a chicken instead good excuse. I think I now have all my shopping done, though I still had a last minute panic about one set of friends, a family who I suddenly thought are probably buying us all gifts (the ones who are coming to stay tomorrow). So to avoid any awkward gift from them/no gift from us situation I went and chose things that they would like but that we would also like if we end up with them not having bought for us, or the dc's but not me and DH Xmas Confused. Stress! Got soaked in the rain in the process - it was of course raining because I went to the hairdressers this afternoon Hmm.

Called into Anna because the preview sale starts tomorrow, I have my eye on a couple of cashmere sweaters, bargains at 40% off. Also my Outnet delivery finally made it, 3rd time lucky. The Helmut Lang and the halter neck..both nice but I think the halter neck one is just a bit too big, only M was available. I think maybe a bit too long and wide under the arms. Am going to see what DH thinks later. Anyone else interested if I decide no, just let me know.

Re coffee, I like my nespresso machine but the house we rented in France in the summer had a fabulous machine that ground the coffee before making your cup, it was realy fantastic. But I think our friend googled it and it was about £800 Shock - so should have been good!!

Sleepwhenidie · 17/12/2013 19:44

Er Amber - did you just say you actually broke your own foot stepping on it? Wow....Xmas ShockXmas Grin
