That time of year approaches. Dinner and a bit of cheesy dancing on its way....

Anyhow, want something simple, stylish, little bit dressy, not expensive, a bit timeless, to wear with my lovely Indigo New Look skinnies (thank you Style and Beauty people). Am 5'2" and a bit pear-shaped if that helps! Preferably black (ok with indigo skinnies?)

Any suggestions? Have tried on a lovely sheer top in Zara but it was cropped which I can't wear, a few things in h&m and just seen a shell top with some sparkle round the neck on New Look...

New Look top

Zara top

Have this in black which I like but don't feel its dressy enough

Oasis have a v nice silk shirt with big flowers on.

ColouringInQueen · 03/11/2013 19:46

Trixy that look is great Smile I have shoes and bag that would work - top and necklace to get. As someone upthread said I'm not sure all the party stuff is in the shops yet either...

Mrs, not a huge budget, unless its one of those things where you fall in love and will get a bit of wear (I am that exciting Wink)

Mango have some good jewellery in at the moment. I'd quite like a plain navy silk tshirt top to wear with sparkly necklaces. But have enough going out clothes for this year really.

Whistles normally do some lovely sequin/lace type stuff for christmas - surely that must be about to drop anyday now.

ColouringInQueen · 03/11/2013 19:50

So £35-40 top really unless its something v special/that I can use in other outfits at xmas/ new year...

Actually, I'd wait for the h&m/marant line to land as well - some pretty tops/silk shirts going to be available.

MissBeehiving · 03/11/2013 19:59

I wouldn't wear a wiggle dress (or something similar) for a night out such as the OP has described. It's just a bit OTT for the occasion and probably the OP.

I agree with the sleeves bit - I hate my arms being uncovered in the winter because it's so cold!!!

MissBeehiving · 03/11/2013 20:00

I love Equipment shirts Mrs C-B Wink

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 20:04

So do I MissBee - did I mention it?

Sorry - I know I said it twice - its just the shirt is new and its so lovely Smile And it is so not frumpy. Wink

Oblomov · 03/11/2013 20:06

Do you ever wear colour OP. Why not a bright sparkly top, toned down by the dark jeans.
Once I had my colours done, I wore more teal and turquoise, as advised.
Once you find out if orange or purple suits, then a spangly top will make you feel fab.

mammadiggingdeep · 03/11/2013 20:08

Op....

It was prob missed on all the hullabaloo (high 5 to myself for getting a chance to use that word)...but primani have lovely sequinned waterfall type blazers...hard to describe but would really add a bit of glitz to an otherwise 'frumpy' outfit Wink

ColouringInQueen · 03/11/2013 20:09

Yes I do wear colour esp on the warm spectrum - pink reds burgundies or taupes...

H&m line sounds worth a look...

ColouringInQueen · 03/11/2013 20:11

Oh yes I did read that one - sounds like a great bargain! (great word btw). Do have a good eve blazer so will prob look at the sparkly jewelry angle...

If you've got a nice evening blazer, I'd just get a silk cami and sparkly necklace to wear with it - do you have an eveningy clutch too? I've just bought a navy sparkly one which am hoping will work well for my similar sounding christmas nights out.

mammadiggingdeep · 03/11/2013 20:25

I got so e nice cami tops from Asos...14.99. Got a blue and a black. They come up big though....couldn't take my blazer off.....

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 20:33

lol. i am inNO WAY insecure about my utterly fabulous body

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 20:39

I got a nice cream cami from next - about £12. It is polyester though which I can just about tolerate in a cami.

AngryFeet · 03/11/2013 20:46

If I wear dark skinnies with a dark top I jazz it up with a coloured blazer and statement necklace. I don't think too much dark suits anyone really.

FaddyPeony · 03/11/2013 20:49

pretty navy T

Whendidyoulast

That Next top is pretty - hadn't thought of looking there...

this from Next?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 20:58

I like the colour of the next top - the red one but the shape would do nothing for me. Would be quite unflattering on the arms I think.

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 20:59

LOVE the massimo one

ColouringInQueen · 03/11/2013 21:12
