That time of year approaches. Dinner and a bit of cheesy dancing on its way....

Anyhow, want something simple, stylish, little bit dressy, not expensive, a bit timeless, to wear with my lovely Indigo New Look skinnies (thank you Style and Beauty people). Am 5'2" and a bit pear-shaped if that helps! Preferably black (ok with indigo skinnies?)

Any suggestions? Have tried on a lovely sheer top in Zara but it was cropped which I can't wear, a few things in h&m and just seen a shell top with some sparkle round the neck on New Look...

New Look top

Zara top

Have this in black which I like but don't feel its dressy enough

i like that Mangoid top nodderooney

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 15:58

I reckon the proper christmas party stuff will hit the shops this week - it does seem a bit later than usual.

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 16:08

i need a top for blog fest.
sigh
warm but .. NOT warm

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/11/2013 16:20

What is blog fest?

And is it too early for sparkly jumpers? Stupidly expensive though

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 16:27

i fear it might be. PLus i am not sure sparkles are good with norkage
its a bit like " visible from space"

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 16:28

stop me buying grey PLEASE, i love it and it looks SO SHIT

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/11/2013 16:28

I thought you were a sparkle fan? I wouldn't dare with my norkage tbh.

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 16:28

i am, but increasingly fear i walk in the shadow of Jane Macdonald

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/11/2013 16:28

I love grey. If I'm not wearing black, I'm generally wearing grey. :)

noddyholder · 03/11/2013 16:30

No glitzy jumpers JM is right. Which is marginally better than Liz McDonald (me)

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 16:31

i love this jayne be damned

noddyholder · 03/11/2013 16:32

Yes Mrsc gorgeous if you look and stand like her!

trixymalixy · 03/11/2013 16:38

I chickened out of saying that. Glad someone else said it. Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/11/2013 16:38

She is quite attractive isn't she? Jayne I mean - she has nice hair. Or she did - actually I don't know what she looks like now.

Or perhaps not She's over used the bbh I reckon.

noddyholder · 03/11/2013 16:39

I meant girl in pic not JM Shock her hair is a shocker

HappyGirlNow · 03/11/2013 16:47

Hate Vivien of Holloway stuff with a passion... More like fancy dress than real style.

LordPalmerston · 03/11/2013 16:48

whendidyoulast · 03/11/2013 16:55

noddyholder · 03/11/2013 16:59

liz mcdonald always top no matter who is in the rest of list

MarshaBrady · 03/11/2013 16:59

I really like this silk top and skinnies look. The full pic rather than the close up. None left except for L unfortunately.

I'd feel comfortable in that with heels. No way could do the retro look. So wrong for me.

polyhymnia · 03/11/2013 17:12

Sorry OP, off topic but have to laugh at whoever thinks 60 yr olds like 'slacks' ! They obviously don't know much about 50/60 year olds today -in fact are 20+ years behind the times.

I'm closer to the age of the mum mentioned and wear designer skinnies - wouldn't be see dead in slacks. Nor would any of my friends.

FaddyPeony · 03/11/2013 18:00

OK so last night I wore coated black skinnies, heeled ankle boots, and this top. I did red nails and wore assorted length gold necklaces over the top and gold rings.

I know the top looks hella boring and WARNING it is polyester -- but actually have been vv pleased with it and have worn it to my last 3 girlfriend-meeting nights out (not with the same people of course Wink). I dunno, maybe it's a tad boring but it's just felt the right mix of dressy/casual for everything that's come up recently.

FaddyPeony · 03/11/2013 18:01

Oh and it works best tucked or half-tucked in.

Pinupgirl · 03/11/2013 18:18

"dresses for fatties"-are you usually so rude about women lord palmerson? Does it make you feel good about yourself to put other women down?
