Liberty, the COS sweater just arrived, I love the colour and shape, good find, thanks. Thanks I must check out COS more. Have a good holiday.

Aw Foxy, poor you and DS.

Shop, I found DD1's behaviour most difficult at 2-3, she is 5 now and angelic. I remind myself of this when DD2 (age 2) is shouting at me. DH doesn't want her to go to nursery until next year (grr). I need to find more things for her to do in the morning. I have just made her go for a nap so she can stay up late and go to a disco in DD1's school this evening and I can hear her grumbling. Grin

shopafrolic · 08/11/2013 14:17

Foxy poor you! What a horrid time you are having. Sending hugs again.
Thanks again all. You are fab.
Am reading Stylist mag, drinking tea and eating chocolate. Not telling you what I'm wearing as it's so bad. Will try harder tomorrow and dress up for London Zoo if it doesn't rain.

foxysocks · 08/11/2013 14:25

shop I just ate two flapjack squares with my cup of tea. i felt in dire need of blood sugar. solidarity sister. xx

thanks all. we are on sofa watching the mr bean film which DS loves. builders are fitting my downstairs sink and loo and the kitchen was delivered this morning, fitting next week. am so excited. queenc can give you a report after she comes round for vino and chats.

i totes forgot to mention mmy curtain nightmare. decided to dye the cream/floral curtains I inherited from a friends mother which we can't afford to replace. worked brilliantly, turned them a gorgeous rich purple, but also shrunk them a good eight inches . thankfully my friend is a dab hand with a sewing machine so is coming next week to sew a bronze/gold silk sari I bought years ago along the bottom. colour blocking, oh yes, totes intentional Wink

santamarianovella · 08/11/2013 14:40

foxy poor you! hope both of you are ok,love the color blocking with sari!

Drywhiteplease · 08/11/2013 15:06

Afternoon all Smile group hug to shop and Foxy and Marsha and anyone else in need.

Being a mother is so hard. I always considered myself a calm, laid back person but DH would describe me as fiery. Kids push buttons like nothing else.
I was so cross with DS on Tue when I arrived to pick him up from an after school club ( having just picked his sister up from hers')to be met with
"Where have you been you're late!"
That I calmly wound down the window and said
"You can walk home, you know the way" and f * you arrogant little sh** and drove home. Dd was Shock I ignored his phone calls. Felt v bad. Then IDIOT I felt v bad and picked him up after he'd walked half way, he got in car, slammed door and ignored me. Should have left him to walk home. ........but he's been v polite ever since, won't last.

Trying to pluck up courage to watch episode 2 but house is empty.

Drywhiteplease · 08/11/2013 15:07

And Santa you're one chic lady....when DH comes home I'm normally in my pjs Grin

shopafrolic · 08/11/2013 15:21

Foxy if only you lived around the corner we could eat sugar and drink tea together. X

santamarianovella · 08/11/2013 15:46

OneLittleLady · 08/11/2013 16:30

Dp is away until Sunday, it's the anniversary of my mums death tomorrow and I can't even have any Wine Sad on my own until tomorrow night when my sister comes round after work. she's basically only coming to scab showers cos her shower is broken and she can't stand not being clean

Drywhiteplease · 08/11/2013 17:13

One of my all time fav threads on s and b was "What to wear to the zoo" it's a classic!

J crew brochure arrived today Grin guy with coat on head is indeed quite fit!

Me+EM too.....matching snoods to sweaters is genius! love this look

Umlauf · 08/11/2013 17:40

Hello, sorry I've been awol for a while. I hate using mumsnet on the ipad, its so annoying to type with, and DH takes the laptop to work.

I know the white shirt chat was a while back (I've been skimming) but I'm after this clever invention from Me&Em. It would solve all of my bulky buttons showing through merino issues and is lovely and long to combat the ride-up.

Well, I didn't buy bargainous zara coat seen here in black ! I was on my way to Zara to get it, had to pop into the apartments extra storage to pick up a coat with a hood on (it was raining and I only keep a couple of coats in the flat due to space issues) and I counted SEVEN navy coats on my coat rail. So when I said I didn't have a navy coat and NEEDED this one... I lied! I don't know how I managed to forget about seven coats, including a past season version of this aquascutum trench that fit badly pre-baby but fits wonderfully now. A re-discovery is better than a purchase isn't it?! I didn't leave Zara empty handed though, I got some tartan trousers and a sweater Lastly, picked up this topshop lurex skirt from the sorting office. I bought it after seeing it on WIT but I'm pear shaped and don't feel very confident in it, I think it's going back... I might pop a pic up for judgment... Although reading how strict you are about returns... I normally end up keeping lots of imperfect bits as I hate paying expensive return postage and having nothing to show for it.

I have a J crew rant but I'll save it, this post is long enough!

MarshaBrady · 08/11/2013 18:08

Ds2 is asleep, very early for him. Poor little sausage I hope he doesn't wake in the night or too early. Thanks for good wishes.

Foxy oh no, your poor ds and poor you! I'm glad you kitchen designer was so lovely.

Umlauf great to see you. Love the Aquascutum trench it's gorgeous. And the leggings and top, but can't see the rest.

LinusDKD · 08/11/2013 18:46

umlauf I also have an Aquascutum trench and it has never fitted properly. Maybe I should take it to a tailor and have it altered as it is a lovely powder blue.

And like you I also don't return things often for the same reason (I also live abroad). I am very careful what I order online though so most things are ok.

I like that Topshop skirt but I do think we need to see a piccie of you wearing it.

dry I haven't bought anything from Me&Em this winter even though I bought a lot over the summer.

I guess none of the colours appeal to me apart from the magenta but they don't do any of the styles I like in that colour. I have pinned a two-in-one jumper but s more fitted one than the one you linked.

LinusDKD · 08/11/2013 18:47

one we'll keep you company whilst DP is away!

QueenCadbury · 08/11/2013 19:01

Wine to foxy
Flowers to one

OneLittleLady · 08/11/2013 19:07

Smile have got Phantom of the Opera live at the Albert Hall on netflix and have a nice mug of apple and cinnamon tea.

Umlauf · 08/11/2013 19:31

Thanks marsha ! Mine isn't quite the same, it's double breasted rather than single with a different lining, but I love how it looks now and have no idea why it didn't make it upstairs during my last wardrobe sorting!!

Sorry for bad links. The Me&Em shirt is only for layering, its like a long, buttonless top with a shirt collar and cuffs. Perfect for me as I struggle to avoid excess bulk when I try to layer up. If anyone knows of anything similar, and a little cheaper, please let me know!

linus what is the problem with the fit? I think my issue with mine was it is quite long all over, as if it was made for a very tall lady! Somehow getting a bit fatter all over has helped with that problem though..

I've pinned the topshop skirt vs hips picture... Blush

one I love Phantom, he was my first crush! Have you seen the performance of Antonio Banderas singing as the phantom with Sarah Brightman on youtube? (Antonio being my second crush) And the book is one of my favourites, and has a much sadder ending. I dragged DH to the Palais Garnier last Christmas tp relive it all!

libertychick · 09/11/2013 02:46

Where did you all go tonight???? I have finally wrapped up work and can go on hols with a clear conscience!!

Dec My Cos jumper arrived today as well - so glad I did buy it Thanks to you for alerting me to the free delivery!

Ok - off to get a few hours sleep....

MarshaBrady · 09/11/2013 08:25

Liberty have fun!

So excited to say that we're going to Aus in Feb for some warmth and sunshine. Excellent!

Turquoiseblue · 09/11/2013 08:30

Have a super holiday liberty (hope you re ok after your health scare).

Umlauf I really like that skirt, might try get it here. Is it very sparkly though?

Was going to say I ve been so busy I haven't shopped but passing zara on way home from work thurs I saw a 'camel' version of this coat so bought it. Can't find it on website fro some reason but this is it on Cosmo lol. I ve never had a zara coat actually so am concerned if it will bauble or hold up ok. I want to change to buttons on it too. Mnv opinions please ? Is it worth the effort, and will it fall apart after a few weeks? I tend to spend a little more on coats (though not by any means designer/ high end) usually so wondering if I should hold out. I m just time and cash pressed at the moment but know I could get a nice one in a while again. I ve been wanting a camel coat since last year (nearly bought the maison scotch one but it was a bit light I felt... Regretted it after). i think it could work so easily into wardrobe. I like this coat, looks lovely on, fit is great. Achieves the look I want, Buttons bit nasty but have lovely ones that will look better. I don't have time for a big coat hunt at the moment but it s something I could hold out to get eventually as I feel it would be trans seasonal.
I am actually having such a coat moment. All I want is coats/ jackets! There s such a great selection this year. I love the look of lots on the zara site, and Hobbs, and maison scotch, and then spotted this and I m in love

this is lovely too but not practical for my needs. Would love it with Mih Marrakech's and heels.

Who was talking about knee high boots? dry? I still like them ! But not really over skinnies, more with dresses/ skirts. Plus they re warm. Wore my Stewart weisman boots last week , but they have gone so slouchy it s annoying :( plus the repair of the seam is less than perfect so I don't enjoy them as much anymore. Might add long black boots to my Christmas list.

Dry have you abandoned the biker boot hunt?

Heading to lunch later today, with old friends, planning on this in green and black suede ankle boots

Queen c lovely birthday haul, you lucky thing ! Hope your dh chilled out a bit, that s a difficult position and heartbreaking.

Linus loved your birthday bracelet.

Shop your birthday plans sounded lovely.

Hi to everyone else. One well done on the weight loss. Loved your new lippy :)

Must go get breakfast and bring the kids to Saturday sports, I feel a fashion fail coming on in the name of warmth and comfort :)

Decameron · 09/11/2013 09:01

The Zara coat looks good, Turquoise and has a high wool content. I am not sure how they last though, haven't bought Zara coats. Anything I've bought from there has fallen apart very quickly but maybe I'm just unlucky. That's so annoying about the 50/50s. They are not cheap!

Marsha, exciting about Australia!

I've ordered this lace skirt for Christmas day, looks a bit fussy with the lace top, I think I'll wear a cashmere jumper or plain tee shirt with it. Also for those of you with little girls, just received these skirts for my two with sparkly pink cardigans, very cute.

Bon voyage, Liberty!

shopafrolic · 09/11/2013 09:05

Morning all! Lovely links.
Liberty have a fab trip
Marsha good one about Aus - how is DS2? Rough night?
No experience with Zara coats Turquoise but I love it
I'm pissed off with DH and fear I may be being unreasonable. He knew I'd had a rough day and came home late from work armed with Prosecco and snacks - I was cross because all I really wanted was his help at bath time! So fed up of tantrums - from both DS and from me!
Weather looking foul today so perhaps the zoo will have to be another week.

shopafrolic · 09/11/2013 09:10

Wow Decam that skirt is an absolute bargain! Lovely.

Drywhiteplease · 09/11/2013 09:11

Turq I think I mentioned knee boots .... I wear them with shorter skirts, mainly for work, think they're a classic now.
Yes, I've given up the biker boot hunt after finding these which are doing the calf length boot job with skinnies v well for me. I got into a complete muddle with bikers, length and style never looked good on me, these are much more me and I'm wearing them daily at the moment.
I'm also looking for a camel coat.......have my eye on J Crew one.

Drywhiteplease · 09/11/2013 09:14

Decam that's a beautiful skirt and a great price..... I don't need it,I don't need it,I don't need it
