If you were in your 40s and going out 'clubbing' what would you wear?

I usually wear skinnies and high heels but am getting bored of it. I have decent legs but hate my norks.

If skinnies, are there any nice tops around? If not skinnies, what?

Ahhh. Sorry.

I like my legs, my wrists and my ears - so an outfit to flatter those would be good! :)

Your outfit sounds fine, Button. Kimono shape makes me look a bit like a large lady trying to cover bingo wings (even though I haven't got terrible arms) but the plain black vest will give you a streamlined shape, so don't worry about the ship effect!

Love this look

what is that about her thighs though? a skirt?a dress? a tea towel?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 19:50

It's a pair of shorts. I like the shape, but not the colour.

shoes look a bit odd too.
I got a tuexdo type blazer in zara sale at xmas, only ordered it to get free P and P...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 19:54

I need a new tux blazer. Will have a look in Zara, even though it makes me want to kill people, including myself.

Hmm, suspicion of waves splashing across the bow, I think. May need to rethink

nope
YOU LOOK LOVELY

lol at waves

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:17

are your jeans too long though?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 20:18

VERY nice, Button.

Have (v short time only) put a picture on my profile of me in a black dress and biker jacket, which is the sort of thing I usually wear. Excuse the crappy hair etc and tell me what you think will suit me, please.

OP posts:
AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:26

it looks fine but a bit... kind of formal. I would say. is the dress very loose?

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:27

if the dress were tighter....

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:27

i think we need to SLINK YOU UP

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:28

i am typing this in a nike tank top, some flip flops and tiger print gym capris so, you know, i can dish it out.... Wink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 20:28

The dress is a Westwood and is possibly a bit big. I don't like clingy stuff because of norkage.

If I wear skinnies, I tend to wear a loose-ish silk top.

OP posts:
AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:30

but it makes you look bigger than I think you are my darling!

dress def too big

FreeButtonBee · 15/09/2013 20:31

Oh thanks! It's been sooo long, I don't know myself. I never thought I'd be one of those people. When do you get your life back, please?

Yes. Jeans are too long - story of my life - will sort 'em before Thursday or just wear long boots rather than heels

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:31

i just roll them up if i want 7/8, normally inside.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 20:33

Yes, it probably does tbh. It looks slinkier than that minus the biker though.

OP posts:
AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:35

i know exactly where you are coming from though . SIster always said/ says the same for me. thats why i find dresses impossible. to fit on thighs they make me look like Jessica Rabbit

FreeButtonBee · 15/09/2013 20:37

That was quick I missed you while eating my chocolate buttons

I find going bigger doesn't always work to hide the boobs. Better to go with some cling but keep it partially covered up instead. Particularly if you're small, it can start to look a bit like something out of the dressing up box

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/09/2013 20:38

Mmmmm chocolate buttons...

I'm 40 and last time I went out to a posh bar (not nightclub admittedly) I wore a stretchy black tube midi dress with cap sleeves, very high red suede shoe boots and a little black jacket. Big gold chunky bangles and a clutch. If that helps.

AlaskaNebraska · 15/09/2013 20:45

dress sounds lovely
