A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

MrsR will try and take a pic of the Toast waistcoat tomorrow - it's similar to this one I think.

I do appreciate all the advice and so forth about my sister QueenC i think it's just difficult for me to change the dynamic as both my sisters are used to be treated like princesses by the entire family (they are the youngest) and it's always been the same, I give and they take. One is worse than the other as one has a family of her own and has realised that she can't take all the time now as she has a family to provide for! I'm trying to be subtle about implementing changes to the dynamic so as to cause the least amount of upset just maybe I'm being a little too gentle about it and need to toughen my stance a bit.

Santa gorgeous jeans - love the Frame ones in particular.
Dry I knew you'd love the panda! Please wear it - I could do with a good chuckle. You are slipper tastic now non? And was your "what's going on in London question for real?" I was LOLing. Tis Fashion Week daaaaaaarling. I couldn't do your job, I cry at everything now - all the littlies sound adorable.

One I think it's great that you are challenging yourself and I really hope you enjoy your time in London. You're getting some tough love on here from all of us because we want you to be happy and because sometimes little things become really big in our heads if we go over them for too long. I'm with Dry don't let people take advantage of you, learn to love and treat yourself, be selfish more (it doesn't make you a bad person). Rather than saving your money for Loubs for your sis, why don't you challenge her so that you both save an equal amount of money and use it on a night away somewhere fun just the two of you? That way you won't be looking at her feet with Envy and she might stop taking advantage - and you'll have some good family memories. Decide what you want to do on MU day that makes you happy - a gallery, a wander around famous landmarks, shopping - whatever. I'm getting my hair done and a bit of shopping before I meet you all.
Pretty much everyone who is going rarely gets the time to spend away from their children and spoil themselves a little. So its all about fun chat, gorgeous clothes, good food and lots of fizz! Enjoy! :)

Carrie I laughed when you said about sharing your mother's good colour. Everything my mum picked out today for me I hated (apart from the coat), and everything I picked out for her she hated! The two tops she chose to buy herself are in some of my best colours! Grin

thanks shop I am listening, it'd just all a work in progress. I'll get there in the end, it's hard to break lifelong habits

libertychick · 12/09/2013 21:15

Someone else can have it!! After a full hour of 'will I, won't I' I have concluded I am being seduced by the label as it's:
a) the wrong colour
b) the wrong size!!

I really did nearly buy it - I'm a 10 sometimes Smile - gorgeous coat, great price.

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 21:18

I like it liberty but it's too similar to Dp's coat for me to be overly tempted Grin

McNally · 12/09/2013 21:18

Step away from the coat liberty! This Sandro scarf looks a bit like the YSL one?

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 21:22

Gorgeous Liberty but not for you..... I thought this was more you.....

libertychick · 12/09/2013 21:24

oooh McNally that's perfect! I'm in Marylebone next week so will pop into Sandro and have a feel! Thanks

libertychick · 12/09/2013 21:26

Well spotted Shop! I was looking at that one too but the lack of buttons is off putting.

libertychick · 12/09/2013 21:27

Have you decided what to do about the peacoat shop?

Sleepwhenidie · 12/09/2013 21:30

Evening all!

One just zone 1 should be fine, can't think where in zone 2 you may need to go (or have time/be arsed to) Grin.

I woke up feeling shocking this morning, what was a bit of a sore throat is now a horrible cold Sad. I am usually slow to get going in the mornings but even after school run and breakfast I had to admit defeat, take the kickboxing kit off and seek solace in Selfridges Smile. I went in search of some bits for DH who is once again moaning he has nothing to wear...err, that's because you avoid going shopping, ever Hmm?.. Anyway, I ended up also buying this fake fur - it is so snuggly, my feeling ill probably played a part in me loving it Blush.

Santa I love those Frame jeans. Will they be cheaper in US do you think? I haven't tried any on yet because I am still carrying the extra lbs from 6 weeks of lots of eating and drinking and no exercise, it will take me a few more weeks to get back to normal and I can't bear looking at the muffin top in changing room mirrors til then! Have you tried them? How is the sizing? I will probably just get DH to get my normal size.

DC's have been a bit unsettled getting back to school Carrie, but settling now. I was so annoyed with DS1 this evening though, he came home from school with 'scary stories' the kids had been telling each other and DD (5) persuaded him to tell her one. So she took ages going to sleep tonight, crying and saying she was scared. DH is away overnight and I imagine I will end up in my bed with 3 of them Hmm.

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 21:30

You must have missed my earlier post Liberty. I've ordered it. At £70 more than the M&S one I thought I'd better at least look at it IRL.
The slight challenge is that DH has now seen me in the M&S one and loves it, so much so that he and my DM have paid for it for me...... Good news obviously but will make it tough if I love the See by Chloe one more :) Poor me hey?

Sleepwhenidie · 12/09/2013 21:33

Oh, I almost forgot, I spotted this dress in Maje, lovely, great for Marsha or Novice I thought Smile

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 21:34

Sleep my DH is allergic to shopping too - unless it's for shooting gear. I LOVE your faux fur - just stunning. Hope you feel better soon - I think I'll be following you - the friends who were here on Saturday were poorly and I can feel my throat starting to rage. I hope you get a decent night's sleep.
Carrie sorry - I meant to say earlier - DS has settled well back into nursery - he's loving it, but he is exhausted! (and so am I!)

libertychick · 12/09/2013 21:35

Opps yes have been skimming through today so did miss that update Shop - it is a tough old life Grin

The fake fur jacket is lovely Sleep I can picture you in it! Hope you feel better soon and hopefully your DC's will sleep ok.

mignonette · 12/09/2013 21:41

Love the fake furry Sleep. Will you be channelling Marianne Faithfull in it as a treat for your DH Sleep when he returns? I'd have to invest in a giant fly swat if I wore a coat like that around DH- he'd never leave me alone Grin.

My children tell me scary stories then I cannot sleep. I'm scared of the dark, truly scared and the darling little shits take great pleasure in winding me up.

Feel better soon.

Sleepwhenidie · 12/09/2013 21:42

Mig I agree on the HL trousers (well jeans), I have a pair of skinnies that are fantastic fit and quality.

I am feeling a bit Hmm with DH (not his fault) - I had secret plans to persuade him to take the DC's to visit his family for the weekend, something he did last October when I had been ill and his mum and dad didn't want to risk catching my bug. I had a fantastic chilled out time by myself, sleeping, wandering round the V&A, lovely walk through Harvey Nics beauty hall and up through Hyde Park, watched Anna Karenina by myself at the cinema and spent Saturday night drinking wine, watching X factor whilst painting my toenails, it was blissful! Before i could suggest this though, his sister and family have asked if they can come to us, which of course he said yes to. I am still coming for lunch, but probably won't be lingering for too long through the afternoon Sad.

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 21:44

That's not good Sleep I might have an evening pass!

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 21:49

Talking of social media and the fashion industry - look how it's being used at London Fashion Week

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 21:59

Love the jacket sleep hope you feel better soon Thanks

mig I am also genuinely scared of the dark, always have been. I can only sleep without the light on if someone is with me, otherwise, if I'm alone, I have to leave it on all night. I can't read or watch anything scary before bed as I have dreadfully unsettled nights. I have bad enough nightmares anyway without adding fuel to the fire so to speak

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 22:01

Sleep that day sounded perfect....I love the V and A, it's my fav London museum,ESP the costume section.love those old dresses.
I adore the Maje dress, really lovely.
dH hates shopping too.....we never go together and I buy most of his casual stuff, great for me. He's just walked in "bloody Bethnal Green!" Wearing P Smith purple v neck, floral shirt,Churches brown brogues and his news slim fit jeans (it's taken me 20yrs to get him to wear jeans that fit!)...looked dapper! My work is done Grin
