A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

One you are also putting a lot of pressure on yourself to acheive a lot on your day in London.

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 15:49

santa don't worry about sounding mean, I know they are cheeky, I just always let it go as they are my sisters!

MrsR I know, I just hate letting them down

I have a quick question about the MU, which zones are we most likely to be travelling in/around on the tube if we leave covent garden at all? Just so I know which oyster card day pass to get Grin

MrsRadicchio · 12/09/2013 15:51

Yes those are nice Santa Thanks

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 15:52

Bloody hell a lot of crying receptions today....whose brilliant idea was it to reenact children being evacuated in WW2...." Imagine how it felt to leave your Mummies and Daddies and know you won't see them again for a long time"????????????????...I sobbed for hours, luckily a couple of 4yr olds were there to give me a big squeeze Grin

Shop lovely coat, I'll have to return my panda sweater now though and I was planning to wear it to the MU Grin

Don't get me started on fridge magnets.....you may have gleaned that I'm slightly anally retentive about things....I like my house, ESP my office kitchen minimal . We rented our house out for a couple of years and the tenants put magnets on my shiny black new fridge, tiny scratches...v Sad

Grumpy I'm with you on waistcoats as I like my clothes fitted....but worry I'd look a twit in one.

I'm a big online shopper because I'm lazy. I was spoiled when I lived and worked in London.

Btw what's going on in London? DH has been down on business and impossible to get a room at his club not happy or any hotels. He's been sent to Bethnal Green Grin Grin Grin

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 15:57

Dp's going to Bath next week to schmooze with clients and stuff. I get to stay home and do the washing Hmm anyone else's DP generate absolute shit-tonnes of washing? The washing basket is never ever empty here unless DP is away!

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 15:57

Picked these slippers up today. The animal print ones are so fab and go with everything. Love the style a lot.

Remember I went shopping with Sue SoSo.....great fun. I'm fussy too, we were on a roll!

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 15:58

One two teens who change shirts everyday....the only time I love polyester!!!!

mignonette · 12/09/2013 16:00

Dry forgive me for laughing about your reception class story. Read it to my DS he laughed too. It is awful when they all get on a tearful jag isn't it? Hope your tears have dried now Smile

London Fashion Week is about to start so everywhere is full. No room at the inn. Bethnal is quite cool now w/ some great little independent stores and crack if that is your thing Grin

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 16:01

I don't get it dry I just don't understand how Dp manages to generate three times the amount of washing I do! teens and children I can understand as we all know children are messy and image conscious teens are all about looking as good as possible but DP's clothes just pile up and up, we had to get a second laundry basket to cope with the amount of washing he generates!

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 16:05

One here is your action plan:

  1. Tell your sister to grow up. Stop acting like a brat.
  2. Don't "let" people treat you in any way that makes you feel shit.....eg.stealing your clothes, demanding gifts.
  3. I don't own a pair of Louboutins, my life is complete without them......use the money on yourself, if your DSis wants some can't she save up too ?
  4. Teach DP how to use the washing machine...I take it you both work?
Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 16:07

The upside Mig is that I get a lot of cuddles from very small people which I love as long as they're clean ... I actually love what I do.

carrie74 · 12/09/2013 16:09

You're on fire today dry, loving your work Grin. And the slippers.

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 16:09

You're so....blunt dry are you sure you're not born and bred yorkshire? Wink

mignonette · 12/09/2013 16:24

Dry It sounds lovely. They are lovely at that age- totally and authentically themselves.

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 16:28

Oh, I should say dry no, I don't actually work. I was signed off permanently due to ill health, Dp supports me without fuss or question so I don't mind doing his washing, I just don't understand where it all comes from Grin

MrsRadicchio · 12/09/2013 16:29

Lovely Helmut Lang stuff on the outnet:

bargain skirt

dress

trousers

leather trousers

chunky knit

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 16:32

That skirt is lovely MrsR not sure it's for me but I can still like it even if I couldn't wear it

mignonette · 12/09/2013 16:38

I love Helmut Lang MrsR but prefer the plain blazers and trousers. Those high waist pants look great but I prefer lower waisted pants. Nobody does pants like HL though-beautifully cut, fabrics that don't pill or stretch and great colour saturation.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 12/09/2013 17:41

Love the sweater MrsR. There were quite a few lovely HL sweaters on The Outnet today.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 12/09/2013 17:50

Queen you asked yesterday how I might style the glittery sweater. I think it would look nice the way Wendy has styled her Markus Lupfer, but TBH it isn't too much of a statement and will (I hope) be quite easy to work with. It would be a mistake to dress it up though - it will be better paired with more casual, laid back, everyday pieces.

needastrongone · 12/09/2013 18:44

The M&S ankle boots are a dream to wear MrsR. This is coming from somebody, despite being 5ft 0, wears heels very infrequently. The padding on the back makes them very comfortable. I am now in my pony attire, so Joules and scruffy jeans Smile.

shopafrolic · 12/09/2013 18:53

V quickly Santa yes, I think J Crew wash better. All my AV have holes in :(
One we usually just do lunch so buy whatever zone ticket you need for any shopping needs you have. You should get most things done centrally would be my guess.

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 19:18

I've only got two places on my list to visit so far which are both central so I reckon a zone 1-2 pass will see me right shop I'm really looking forward to it, I feel it'll do me good to get out of where I live even if just for a day as it's very close minded and generally very grey and samey here Hmm

carrie74 · 12/09/2013 19:19

Come home to a delivery of basics from Gap (having made use of the 30% voucher):

Bowery super soft T in grey white, and navy and white Breton with red neck (stripes match at the seams Grin). Lovely, lovely. Nice weight, good fit, and beautifully soft. I didn't take the white one off. And I've officially become my mother: coral merino cardie. Also great fit and colour, but this is my Mum's best colour, and I think I have to admit it, it's probably one of mine too. Anyway, will go well hopefully with all my navy dresses for work.

Sent back black pencil skirt. A good fit, but not lined, twill fabric will pick up every bit of fluff, and I think I'd like pockets (and the moon on a stick). Also sent back a pretty much see through sport top.

DS (6, just started Y2), has just informed me that he fell asleep in class today for the third day in a row Hmm. His teachers told me about the last 2 days. I think I'd be asking myself if my lessons were adequately stimulating...

How are everyone else's littlies settling into school?

QueenCadbury · 12/09/2013 20:06

Evening!
one my dh also seems to generate a lot of washing. Most of it after I've emptied the basket and think I'm on top of it all and then he'll empty his work bag of shirts and cycling stuff! I definitely generate the least washing in the family. I also totally agree with what dry says with regards to your sisters but I realise that we don't fully understand the family dynamics. It's just to us outsiders it seems to be all take, take, take from them whilst you give. We just want you to be happy.

grumpy tbh I didn't wear the sequin jumper that much last year. I'm going to try it more casually this year and see if it works better as I do love it. That waistcoat is lovely and surely the queen of a waistcoat is Kate moss.

I bought sainsburys mag today for the recipe of toffee apple cheesecake. Yum. mig there's a recipe in there for peanut butter and salted popcorn ice cream. Tyrells salted popcorn has become my new guilty pleasure.
