Tinternet down here.... Ahh, so using phone....could be interesting!
decameron now I know who you are on pin. Great recipes. Am going to tweak chicken a bit.
queenC I have a theory ( one of many but this is one of my better ones) that if you don't love a purchase when it's new you'll never really love it, no matter what anyone says. You need to feel happy and relaxed in what you wear. Where are your black jeans from? And I saw the Boden pink/ red thing , still thinking about it.
needsa life has gone a bit hectic here too... Would love a pause button Grin
novice I love beef too. Was asking about your colleague because Newcastle lasses are hard; never wear coats or tights, even in the bleakest mid winter!Hmm

I have 3 hrs to put my house back together and pimp up my ready made food Grin . At 9.30 I will be guzzling a Wine with my guests. They have young children.... My taxi service tonight is going to make them dread teenaged years Grin

Wore olive/ khaki Vero Moda dress, black opaques, animal slippers, scarf to work today.... Am keeping it on as it's comfy and got good comments.

Have a fab weekend liberty.

I'm still undecided about the ash boots. This was the reply from my wardrobe

This is the intended look for this pair, they are supposed to have a distressed feel and all of the other pairs will have this.

I love the colour and the shape but just want them to look perfect but they don't. For £100 I should probably return them shouldn't I?

mrscb linked these but I'm just not sure if I like the wooden heel. I really like the ash with the black heel.

Forgot to say that yesterday I bought this top. I rarely go in next anymore except to look at kids stuff but my training afternoon was on a retail park so I nipped in. I'm wearing it today with black jeans and a damson cardi. And it has an exposed zip so get me, I'm finally trendy Grin.

It wasn't me who found the tartan skirt needsa - was it grumpy - regardless - it's great when people find what they are looking for...

Busy day today - have a hospital apt - then heading away for the weekend and it's my wedding anniversary!

That's a lovely top actually Decameron, Boden or not! It's the sizing which is the main issue for me.

I can't keep up with this thread when life is manic (usually when DH is away so I am doing 'double kids activities') but I have been reading and hopefully will be back now.

Mig - my DC are 14 (on Saturday, paintballing party, hilarious but ouch!) and 12, and one of my big loves is cooking, so the kids get what they are given. Actually, they love risotto, I did chicken, bacon and leek 'flavour' on Tuesday, which was a big hit. Wednesday was frittata as that can be eaten hot or cold, last night pea and ham soup. They have given up complaining. Agree, it's much harder when the DC are young and the weekly menu is rather mundane and lacking in inspiration. The benefits of having older children, although I loved them being little too.

Only high street purchases for me this week, my Zara tartan skirt came, thanks liberty, it's lovely, together with a mustard cable knit jumper and a red V neck cable. Also a Zebra print mini skirt, A line, in the Next VIP sale which is actually super [super]

Back soon!

I've been wondering about fabric recently too, it bothered me that the Burberry coat is not pure wool. However my DVF coat is only 80 % wool and has worn well.

Sounds like a lovely evening, Marsha and I think you need to show those lovely clothes off so restaurant was a good decision. :)

Risotto sounds delicious, Mig!

Dry glad the chicken was a hit. You can find such great recipes on Pinterest. Also, this Boden blouse arrived yesterday, which I got to go with jeans. I know Boden is not everyone's cup of tea but it is lovely and silk for £60 something. A

Also ordered these Current/Elliott jeans in the HOF 20% off denim the other day.

Novice

I do love beef Carpaccio. I will always order that if i see it on the menu (and Calfs Liver)...

I do love inventing new recipes but that is because I do not have young children anymore so am freed from the time tyranny of having to cook to order/on time etc. The Risotti was very easy though and really not fancy. I just roasted the squash and sweet potato and added them to a standard chicken stock and wine risotti rice mix w/ onion and garlic and a few sage leaves added at the end. Just takes stirring time.

I just got a weird red font warning "This thread is too big to accept new messages" on top of the add your message here box. Strange.

I usually wear a tank type top with jeans and heels Dry - this is a favourite, but if you want something a little more classy have you looked at Tucker blouses? They are usually gorgeous silk, often with small pattern.

Welcome Space, nice jumper. Lovely knits you've got there too Santa!

Glad it sounds like you are on the mend One. How are everyone else's bumps/burns Mig and Mom?

My Outnet order arrived tonight and contrary to expectations the leather skirt and the jeans fit ok and are really nice....oops - didn't plan on buying bothGrin. The DvF leather skirt is in a completely different league from the Zara one, unsurprisingly Smile.

Hi Mig! Weird as it was beef and beef. Carpaccio followed by a beautiful steak well seasoned with veg. Passion fruit meringue for dessert (always my favourite bit!).

It was a work dinner so Armani navy dress and r&b suede courts. And my pretty ringSmile

You must be a very talented foodie family!

Novice I cross posted before I could say hi to you. What food did you eat? You know i have to know!

I made butternut squash and sweet potato Risotti tonight w/ Pecorino and Parmesan on top. Yummy proper Autumn food. No pudding as doing penance for eating three tubs of gelato this week.....I do cut out other meals if I eat ice cream or gelato though otherwise I'd gain weight.

I have a lovely dark green deep V sleeveless top in sheer crepe de chine with a heavily embellished neckline that i wear w/ jeans and fierce shoes. Top Shop do this style very well if you want to not spend mega bucks.

Pleated plisse or organza shirts look great. Comme Des Garcons do them well as do COS/GAP/ &OtherStories.

That's the kind of thing I like. I'll post some links tomorrow Dry

I need inspiring ladies..... Tops to wear with jeans for smart ish nights out.
Have bottom sorted (snort) , footwear is ok but I need a few nice tops.

The criteria;
Not too long so as to drown me but hip length is good
I don't mind sheer
I'm not good with deep plunging necklines
I don't mind smallish print
Not fussy about sleeve length....
Love silk
Would look good under stone biker jacket or black blazer

What do you wear nosey

mig thanks for taking the time to explain. I'd always thought of it much more simplistically as synthetic = bad, natural = good. Clearly it's a little bit more complicated than that, which is probably going to confuse my online shopping trip a bit. Oh well! Just one more thing to factor in when deciding what to buy I guess.

Santa I agree, we cannot help equating poly =cheap. However it helps mitigate creasing in many garments. There is of course the issue of how it aggravates perspiration in some people though. The new fabrics such as Tencel are better.

I buy a lot of pure cotton cardigans because at a lower price point, the wash and wear very well. I buy the light cotton knits though, not that heavy cotton ramie which tends to hang from even very small breasts making a woman look saggy and lumpy. I also find heavy cotton knits do sag and droop especially in the heat and look very scruffy.

I love silk but go for Plisse, Organza and Seersucker because their crispness means that they look fresh even after a heavy day. I'd probably not wear a poly shirt because I don't like clingy fabrics. I like my shirts to stand away from my body if that makes sense?

Seersucker is apparently the choice of fabric for men especially in the Deep South because of its freshness and many men have suits made from it. Come Labour day they go into storage along w/ white shoes!

Queen and One I hope you are both recovering from your fall/operation.
