mcnally that scarf is a dead ringer to the ysl one,im tempted!

sleep i did try 2 frame denim, the le skinny runs small, and the le garcon is true size, a bit relaxed but def a skinny boyfriend which i think is great for oversized knits. they are cheaper in the U.S, matches in marylebone stock them if you want to try them on, the fabric feels amazing, the black le skinny that i tried feels thick, not the lightweight stretchy kind,im very tempted to buy a couple .

liberty i like the DFV coat shop linked,

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 22:17

Ugh, my friend who I am going to be going to see a band with tomorrow is being a dick because I haven't arranged meeting with everyone who is going at a place he wants to go to. Considering he was actually meant to be making the arrangements but didn't bother, I don't know why he's complaining. I've told him I'm not changing things last minute just to suit him so he's huffing and puffing at me Hmm

Sleepwhenidie · 12/09/2013 22:35

Dry it was a battle for me getting DH into slim fit jeans too, now he looks great, previously he was devoted to his Gap Carpenter (baggy) jeans, I think he thought they made his legs look bigger - they didn't, they just flapped around Grin. Amongst other things I got him this shirt today, it is gorgeously soft. Also a charcoal v neck sweater from Joseph (do you get the sense I'm seeking comfort today Smile.

Thanks for the info re Frame Santa. I will try and get to Matches before DH goes at the end of next week. Novice in answer to your long ago question Blush, he will be in Manhattan, he's not sure which hotel yet.

Novice I'm sure I have stuff I can send to you too, pm me an address when you are ready. Be careful you don't end up needing a truck to get home from MU! Not a good look Grin.

libertychick · 12/09/2013 22:35

It is a gorgeous coat Santa - I need to go try some on. I have not tried any DVF before so I don't know how the sizing is on me. They have only a US 4 and 6 left in it - I am usually a 12 though sometimes a 10 in coats and jackets....I think if I tried some on I'd have a better idea of what I want.

Drywhiteplease · 12/09/2013 22:43

Sleep love how you went to Selfridges to make yourself feel better! DH always wore loose fit 36" waist......but they made him look bigger...now 34" slim much better and have given on the bum too. I love the Joseph shirt....will have a look on line.
Carrie have never heard of a yr 2 falling asleep at school, receptions yes!

Am thinking about having a black ban.....seeing how long I can go without wearing black(apart from shoes and bags).....will start tomorrow, not that difficult really.

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 22:46

if I had a black ban, over half my wardrobe would be out of bounds dry Grin oddly enough though, I have more shoes in bright colours than I do in black Hmm

mignonette · 12/09/2013 22:48

Dry that sounds dapper. DH has quite the collection of Paul Smith including the toothbrush! He has a lovely cobalt blue w/ white floral print w/ the purple lined cuffs and collar which is my favourite on him.

Sleep What a bummer about your day. That is such a lovely walk and one of my favourites. I also like wandering around Borough then over the river, up to Trafalgar, the National Gallery then up past St Martins lane to Covent and Soho. Quite a tramp but great to get your head down and just walk and loads to see. I also like Holland Park w/ the little independents around it and The Cross nearby. Marylebone High St is another and of course Dover St Market for totally cool clothing. I want to really explore Bermondsey next- all those dark ages alleys and cool food places.

santamarianovella · 12/09/2013 22:52

dry i too believe in the healing powers of selfridges,Grin, its the only big department store that does not give me a headache ,you can never find any fault in it,

Sleepwhenidie · 12/09/2013 23:11

santa I love Selfridges even more after the little drama I had today...after shopping there I walked down Oxford St to Liberty to get a birthday present for a friend. Mooched around and suddenly realised that my diamond bracelet, wedding present from DH, was no longer on my wrist. Felt absolutely sick and shaky and by this point it was time for me to go and collect ds2 so I couldn't retrace my steps Sad.

Once home, in a panic I called Selfrdges and got cut off 3 times between switchboard and Zadig concession, there and Maje being the only place I had tried anything on. Tried Liberty where the assistants at the two places I'd put my bags down (i figured maybe A handle had caught the clasp of the bracelet when I put them down) were lovely and searched for me, to no avail. Eventually I called Zadig in Hampstead to get the direct line to the concession in Selfridges, and - they had it!! I almost cried with relief, dashed back again this evening armed with chocs to say thanks....

OneLittleLady · 12/09/2013 23:18

you must have been so relieved sleep I am always terrified of losing things with sentimental value, it's never the cost of them that worries me, it's the sentimental value they have. things like that just can't be replaced can they

McNally · 12/09/2013 23:19

Oh my god sleep. I felt I'll just reading about it. Hooray for happy endings!

McNally · 12/09/2013 23:20

Felt ill. Must. Proof. Read.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 13/09/2013 00:06

sleep I had the exact same thing happen years ago. On my 21st birthday my darling Nan gave me a ring that her mother had given her. It was 3 joined bands, one sapphire, one ruby and one diamond, each precious stone flanked by 2 smaller diamonds. two days after my birthday I lost it in Salisbury. The panic was overwhelming and much crazed searching ensued. Eventually found under shelving by a lovely assistant in the Body Shop where I'd pulled it clean off my finger while getting money out of my pocket. I too went and bought her the biggest box of chocs I could afford

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 07:04

Phew sleep you're so lucky

Decameron · 13/09/2013 07:37

Wow, Sleep, you were lucky to get the bracelet back.

Liberty, I am a UK12 , sometime s 10 on top. I have the jacket version of that blue coat in a US6. Also have a wool dvf trench coat in a US8.

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 07:46

Morning all. You're all making me feel nostalgic for London. The walks by the Thames, drinking by the Thames, shopping, the v&a and just mooching around. However then I think of the hideous commutes and the traffic and i know we're happier in bristol Grin

Loving all the coat talk. I'm going to stick with just the north face this year as I've made the big purchase with the dress. I may then get another coat for my birthday next year. I'm envious of anyone who can wear the dvf. It would look like a dressing gown on me Grin.

My dc have settled well back into school. Dd especially loves juniors and the 'extra responsibility'. They're very tired though hence the hideous behaviour. They're better now though that they have to earn their birthday parties back! Such a cruel mum I am!

shop that's great about the bracelet. I'd hate to lose something sentimental. Love the fur too although pin won't let me like it for some reason.

Had better go and start the daily grind...

Annianni · 13/09/2013 07:56

Sleep you are so lucky to get it back.
I would have been hysterical! :o

Shop, my new navy jacket looks amazing.
I'll iron it later and put it on Pin.
A word of warning though... my washer's still full of dye round the seal, after Dh scrubbing it, a hot wash as advised in the instructions, an extra wash with bleach, and a wash of dh's work clothes.
I'll have another go later Hmm

It's not put me off though, I want to dye alsorts now!

Annianni · 13/09/2013 08:00

Ds1 is tired from being back at school.
Ds2 is missing him like mad though, which is very sweet... but I'm really enjoying the peace and quiet!

Liberty I love that blue dvf.
Did you try the m&s black boucle long biker?

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 08:05

Morning lovely voguettes. I have been working for two days, but nearly finished. It's nice to be back doing it. It gets better as I get into it.

Sleep that is so lucky.

Shop what did you decide on the peacoat? Or coats.

Need to crack on, so back later and will read properly.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 08:06

Has anyone tried the men's Uniglo knitwear for themselves?
There's a lambswool cardigan that I quite like the look of and it's really cheap.
I've been looking at boyfriend styles, so why not just try the real thing?!

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 08:09

Sleep you must be so relieved - what great service from the staff too!
Anni that's what worries me about dyeing things TBH. DH is v OCD and would go mad if washing machine got stained! Looking forward to seeing a pic though - I'm wondering if I can resurrect old indigo skinnies where the knees have worn lighter....
Morning all BTW!
Off to take DS for his first ever swimming lesson. I am absolutely dreading it - I hate stuff like this and will be more nervous than him I just know it.
In other news the Chloe coat has been despatched!

Morning!

Serious London nostalgia here as well! We used to live close to the Tate Modern and Borough Market (DH still pines for his Ginger Pig bacon) and I love walking and shopping in London.

And I LOVE Selfridges. DH used to have to drag me away from the counters in the beauty hall.

What a different life I have now! In London we were carefree DINKs and now I am a SAHM with two children under three.

All these stories about losing precious/valuable jewelry reminds me of when DM lost her diamond tennis bracelet last year when I was shopping with her in Geneva. We traced back out steps but no luck.

I felt nauseous thinking that she would never get it back and having to explain to DF that she had lost it. DM looked resigned about never finding it again but I could tell that underneath she was really upset.

But right before going to bed that night she looked for something in her handbag and there it was! Phew!

DPIL are arriving later to spend the weekend and have offered to babysit for us so DH and can go out to dinner. We will take them up on it because DH and I havd hardly seen each other this week. Maybe I'll take the Colts out for a spin.

I am waaaay behind reading all posts and it doesn't look like I will be able to have a catch-up but I will try.

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 08:22

Oh you got it Shop! Bravo!

Linus it must have been lovely to live there.

My favourite store is Liberty. I'm not great in the other big ones, Harvey Nics and Selfridges.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 09:22

Whilst googling about dyeing yesterday Shop, I found a postby MrsCb on allwornout, saying she'd dyed some jeans with a navy dylon and they looked great in the photo.

Dylon do a jeans dye too, but from reviews it seems to be a very strong colour and it makes the denim all one colour... you lose any fading etc.

I've got some pale Gap boyfriends that I don't wear, I thought about doing a test on them.

My Cos coat is out for delivery today, so excited!

carrie74 · 13/09/2013 09:27

Morning.

So pleased you had the bracelet back sleep, I felt sick reading it!

Glad the coat dying worked anni, I never think of doing things like that.

Also feeling London nostalgia with these posts, it's funny how the crappy stuff fades away and you only remember the good stuff. It's been nearly 8 years now since we left London, can't believe it!

Feeling a bit meh this morning. Got personal training in 45 mins, which I know I'll be pleased I've done when I'm finished, but I always slightly dread it. I feel like I need a day of nothingness: reading my book, mooching, but alas, too much to do. Making 2 cheesecakes for local fundraiser tonight, usual round of chores to do after 3 days at work..Supposed to be popping to a friend's tonight with a load of the other school mums, but don't know if I can face it: H and I have been out every night this week on various things, and have barely said hello to each other. I kind of miss him. I'm also a bit livid about the PTA Chair thing, and don't want to go off on one around my friends really (who no doubt will see it as a dig, when it wouldn't be, it's just I don't want to do it either!!).
