A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Poor you Mom that sounds awful

Anyone else happy to be wearing winter stuff? Tweed kilt today, happySmile

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 07:48

Love my wintery gear Dry A&W peacock sweatshirt today with the Goldsigns again!
Mom that sounds terribly scary. Aloe Vera based creams may help? I do hope you heal quickly.

OP posts:
Turquoiseblue · 17/09/2013 07:58

Hope surgery goes well and the result is worth being unstylish for a Short time one

Mom - I had similar accident cooking (hot oil ), only for I wear glasses one of my eyes would have been splashed too, it was mostly the hair line and décolletage that were hit! I used a lot of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and afterwards and some others prescribed to help scar management plus lots of massage (once it healed) and it s almost faded. Hope you re ok.

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 08:16

Liberty PLEASE email Sandro and tell them - you might get a free scarf in the process :) I can't bear bad service and always let Head Office know. Is DH speaking to you this morning?

Decameron · 17/09/2013 08:19

Mom, that sounds awful, hope you heal well.

Good luck today, One.

Lovely seeing everyone's photos. I have deleted mine now.

Liberty would a Longchamp tote bag do, with your laptop in a case inside? It's light and holds a lot. My dh would also be annoyed if he knew I was contemplating a Burberry. I feel a bit guilty about it (an unfamiliar feeling!), not sure I will go for it now.

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 08:21

gorgeous coat, shame about the pout!

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 08:25

I've deleted my pic of DS and just left a few of the hundred pics I posted yesterday to get your advice.
It's fab having a private board Anni thanks x

Mom sounds really scary, hope you are ok.

Anni you're a champ re the pin board.

I am in an agency waiting for a briefing. Am amongst everyone having a coffee. So funny to be back if only for a couple of hours. The morning chat and all that. Has been a while.

Annianni · 17/09/2013 09:28

Morning all...

Mom hope you're ok.

One good luck today.

Liberty I agree with Shop, email them!
But also send an email saying how lovely the coat shop man was.
I've worked in retail and it's lovely to get good feedback.

I just wanted to comment about the mnv pin board.
It's just a private board of mine, where I asked for opinions on something I'd bought.
It got christened mnv when certain people Shop and Dry invaded it with photos of coats etc.

If I've not sent you an invite it's because...
a... I've forgotten
b... I've forgotten your pin name (people having different names on pin confuses me)
c... I usually mn and pin from my phone, but can only invite people from the laptop or pc.
And when I am on there, I've forgotten (sorry)
Or d... I've not really 'spoken' to you on here.

I've got photos of myself and my dc's on there, which I'd like to keep private.

Hope that sounds ok, and not in the least bit wanker-ish.

Annianni · 17/09/2013 09:39

Good luck today Marsha, and hope you have fun with your parents.

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 09:54

Not in the least bit wanker-ish Anni
If it wasn't for the likes of me and Dry stealing it as our own it would have stayed all yours. Grin
Marsha morning chat in an agency sounds like heaven to me!

Mom That's awful and thank goodness you won't be scarred. When i severely burned my hand I got some good advice from the Plastic surgeon I had a consult w/. He recommended buying some Vitamin E capsules, pricking them w/ a pin and rubbing the liquid onto my scars. Your skin needs to be patent though- don't do this until it has healed. Another good thing to use is any generic stretch mark oil as it'll keep the skin supple as all burned tissue is prone to contracture temporarily.

One Good luck.

Anni I'll probably delete pins of the kids although they did give permission. I don't show my face for privacy reasons (bit concerned due to my job) but you guys kind of know me in that you have my address and name Grin so could probably black mail me re annual spenditure on frivolities!
The Longchamp tote is a good suggestion Decam and can I also suggest the Goyard Tote as permanently sported by La Moss on her many travels. If it can hold the acroutrements of a supermodel, then that kind of positively endorses it for me.

Is anybody going to see the Carine Roitfeld film here which looks very interesting and glam.

Shop That coat is very me. Laura Bailey does do that stupid Guppy pout and I do not know why. She is an ex model and should know better.

Can I introduce my new object of lust, the Missoni bag? Part of the new 'M' range rejigged by Marguerita Missoni, I so love it. There's a navy version too.

Marsha Good to read that your work is going well and to 'see' you so engaged w/ it.

I hope one day to meet you all and hear in more detail about all your lives. I'm a bit out of touch w/ having small children and it is good to be reminded about just how challenging it can be regardless of whether one works outside of the home for money. Once again I take my hat off to you all. I think it is harder now than it was when my two were little. The World has gone 'boom' in mass information and communication and the potential for distraction and mind melt is worse.

And today I am wearing MY NEW CHOO's here which I ordered after doing the 'what would you spend £1000 on in NAP Sunday night challenge and DH bought me as an early Christmas gift. I have on an old pair of Helmut Lang cigarette leg pants and a grey Uniqlo lambswool/Merino V neck sweater. Very simple for me. Oh and my yellow leather cuff here that I bought after Grumpy mentioned it. I'm worried that yellow shoes+yellow cuff is a little matchy matchy but hey ho, too late now. The cuff will probably be killed by me at some point in the day as I am death to jewellery. I also bought this ACNE dress from the same £1000 challenge.

mignonette · 17/09/2013 10:13

Why oh why is bloody Pixie Geldof deemed worthy of attention? What the hell does that girl actually do that is actually off her own bat as opposed to being DD of?

Annianni · 17/09/2013 10:15

Gorgeous shoes Mig.

I'm in winter clothes today, I'm wearing a plum cashmere sweater and Hudson Beth's. I had leopard calf hair ballet pumps on for the SR.

Ds2 got really upset this morning, he didn't want Ds1 to go to school and has spent the last hour on my knee, holding onto my hair (his version of a comfort blanket)

LinusDKD · 17/09/2013 10:16

For mig

Annianni · 17/09/2013 10:17

I quite like Pixie, although she doesn't seem to do much... At least she's not annoying like her sister.

MrsRadicchio · 17/09/2013 10:21

Not wanker - ish Anni though the board is v useful as comandeered by the other voguettes.

Mom I hope you heal well, sounds v scary.

Marsha your morning sounds great. What have you been wearing?

Good luck One hope the op goes well.

Liberty great shopping, hope DH has simmered down from yesterday. Agree with making a complaint re Sandro. And praise to CdC.

Novice the Lakeland pinning frenzy was so funny.

Shop I am really late in offering my coat comments but - I think the MnS one is a fun coat for this season and the trend for checks, it seems a good affordable alternative to the Ganni coat. The Chloe is much more classic and think you'll get loads of wear out of it, the colour will be great on you.

Was thinking you could email my wardobe and tell them you were poised to buy pistols with discount but code ran out, and would they honour it? Cheeky but worth a try? I have had some successes that way.

Lovely shopping Mig

So I've been culling my wardrobe like mad (following colours 'diagnosis'). I have a forest green / cream chinti and parker breton that needs a new home. Size M, quite a boxy fit. Will link a pic in my next post. Please PM me if it of interest, I would only ask for postage costs for it. Lurkers feel free to PM too, I am keen to send it to a good home.

I will have a few more bits too, once I have done some more sorting.

I know this is trop K. Middleton but that colour is just gorgeous.

Decameron · 17/09/2013 10:30

That dress is beeyoootifull, Linus.

Mig, very cool shoes!

Aww, poor DS2, Anni. DD2 missed DD1 at first but seems happy enough now being spoiled on her own each day. I like the sound of plum cashmere. I was poised to buy the DKNY black coat you found as it has a very high wool content and anything I've bought from DKNY has always been great but it has sold out in medium. Maybe someone will return one.

Decameron · 17/09/2013 10:32

Just noticed this on the outnet if anyone is looking for a work jacket. I have it in this colour and cobalt and it looks good with jeans too.

Decameron · 17/09/2013 10:34

Here it is in the blue colour. I have it in a US6 and I am a 10/12 on top.

Decameron · 17/09/2013 10:36

I'm talking to myself. I'm off out!

shopafrolic · 17/09/2013 10:42

MrsR has the breton gone?
