A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Did I miss an MU??? Novice, darling, you were not blingless last MU (July), I recall the raindance ring, at least one diamond bracelet, an ankle bracelet Grin - if that's blingless I'd love to see you fully blinged up!

mignonette · 16/09/2013 22:11

Blooming Those hats look very suitable. Have emailed the link to her.

Shop I didn't think I'd get away with surreptitious tartan pinning Wink. I burst out laughing when I read your comment.

Hi Ruby. Don't disappear too fast.

I'm kind of giving up on a coat hunt seeing as I hardly ever wear heavy coats and because i have quite a few that are scandalously under worn. If I see 'the coat' on my travels I may change my mind. I'm in Southern Spain and Germany next month so may go shopping there (Loewe here I come).....

BrandyAlexander · 16/09/2013 22:14

BlushBlushBlush Liberty! Ooops! I was remembering that I wore my lovely £6 necklace and the floral non-blingy watch. I forgot about the other things!Blush

shopafrolic · 16/09/2013 22:19

Mig, you know you can't get tartan past me either!

Drywhiteplease · 16/09/2013 22:19

I'm finding this v tempting. Damn those Worn Out Ladies!

mignonette · 16/09/2013 22:25

I do love me some check. I've just registered w/ the Charlotte Tilbury blog plus the new one called Violet Grey Dry. Has anybody bought any of the new Tilbury range?

libertychick · 16/09/2013 22:29

Right, CdC story - lovely man in the shop. As well as the one I bought I also tried this hooded coat. CdC man said the hooded one was better on me and really tried hard to persuade me to buy it. He was so helpful, I dithered between a 38 and a 40 in both and he spent ages persuading me to go for the smaller size (in my head I am still age 18 weighing 14 stone so I always verge towards a larger size) but he was absolutely right about going for a more fitted look. He brought out a nice chunky double breasted cardi to try underneath so I could see that I could wear a decent layer with it...the big problem with the hooded version was that the buttons are poppers and kept popping open when I moved - at first I was paranoid that I was too big for it but really they were just not good poppers. I am glad I went with the military style as I think it's more me. But the effort he put into selling the hooded one was great Smile.

I was in Hampstead and Sandro was almost next door so I went in to try out the lovely scarf McNally linked. It's a brighter red than I expected so I wasn't completely sure it suited me - what a contrast in service though - totally unhelpful staff, basically ignored my presence even though I was the only person in the shop and was clearly quite interested in the scarf - I went straight in and asked for it - no faffing around. And it was £135 in sterling - a lot more than it costs in France so I decided to pass - I have a red scarf in the shade I like so I really don't need a leopard print version!

Had a quick look around Zadig - they have seriously desirable boots - drool.

Thanks all for the bag links - I have to stop spending though - not just clothes, we seem to be spending money as fast as it comes in ATM - not helping the immigration plans.

libertychick · 16/09/2013 22:32

Grin at novice the necklace and watch are beautiful too!

libertychick · 16/09/2013 22:37

And re the work bags - I am just being a whinge - I have several options including a really gorgeous reddish brown leather briefcase that gets comments every single time I use it. I default to the backpack as I get such bad backpain - and the reality is that any bag worn cross body or carried by hand will cause me problems - every so often get caught up in the belief that there is a perfect stylish solution out there. I travel in London every day and watch the bags other women use like a hawk and in reality the only ones who look good are just carrying less stuff!

Decameron · 16/09/2013 22:42

Coat is fab, Liberty*!

My pistols arrived the morning after I ordered them, My-W are very fast to deliver.

That's annoying about the boots, Turquoise, I would contact Stuart Weitzman, I think.

libertychick · 16/09/2013 23:07

Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments on the coat - DH hasn't spoken to me all evening over it (sigh) ah well - easier to get forgiveness than permission this is a life philosophy that has served me well Smile.

Annianni · 16/09/2013 23:09

Thanks Ruby, I thought about ringing the Cheshire oaks store and asking if they had it.
But it is such a pale colour and I'm rather clumsy!

Fab coat Liberty.
Did you see the pin I sent you?
The black dkny was very similar to that one.

Annianni · 16/09/2013 23:11

Dry have I missed the red/pink pin?

I loved Novices drunken Lakeland pin fest :o

libertychick · 16/09/2013 23:15

Anni sorry I meant to comment on those - I like both, great choices! I don't know where the pins have gone though?? I just saw them on the feed thing on the side but had no idea where they went? Thansks for thinking of me.

libertychick · 16/09/2013 23:16

She's having a bling and kitchen fest now! Dangerous lady to follow for those of us on a budget!

libertychick · 16/09/2013 23:22

Hmmmmm Anni what are you doing???? The black DKNY is v v nice indeed and a bargain....I'm going to stick with the CdC - multiple ordering now of alternatives is the road to madness I fear Smile

Annianni · 16/09/2013 23:37

Sorry Liberty... I won't make you buy any other coats... :o

Mominatrix · 17/09/2013 06:06

Morning Ladies. Was not able to catch up, and now I will never catch up! I have been away again as I had a ghastly accident (think boiling water and face). Looks like it will heal without any scarring, but it certainly is not pleasant now.

I'm covering my eyes on all the coat links. The next coat I will get will be next year, and it will be that Rick Owens jacket I have been coveting for almost 10 years. Can't give into temptation, or I will never get that jacket!

I feel your pain liberty re bags. I do carry quite a heavy bag, but I think of it as combining arm toning exercise and an accessory in one. I can't go back to backpacks - I would rather roll along a wheelie bag, and have been tempted to do so in the past!

Have fun at Bicester Amber. The Prada Outlet is great there, but can be a zoo.

I am a tuna snob. Ever since I tried ventresca (tuna belly in olive oil), I have never been able to go back. However I am a serial clashing colour wearer, and love red and pink together.

Promise to catch up today!

LinusDKD · 17/09/2013 06:56

Morning!

Liberty I hate snooty or inattentive shop assistants with a passion. I usually leave without buying anything and buy it elsewhere.

dry mig I have been tempted by the new Charlotte Tilbury range as well as I love her tutorials, but I am a bit sceptical. I like the look of some of her brushes but I might wait to buy something until I have seen her products being used by Lisa Eldridge or Pixiwoo (they seem to be pretty impartial in their videos)

What a busy night on Pin. Need to catch up!

AmberNectarine · 17/09/2013 07:01

liberty I refuse to carry a laptop bag as with the DCs BH and my own handbag that would be four bags to lug on the nursery run. I therefore carry a massive handbag that fits my laptop, folders/papers, notebooks and general female paraphernalia. I find my Michael Kors jetset tote best for this but cripes is it heavy! I am thinking of getting one in grey for the winter though...

OneLittleLady · 17/09/2013 07:14

Morning all! Have been up ALL night as I'm suffering with insomnia, haven't had more than two hours sleep a night for the past week and a half. Anyway, I'm off to surgery in a couple of hours so will be back later to look at links and possibly type crap in my drug induced fuzz Grin

McNally · 17/09/2013 07:21

Oh mom, poor you. Sounds awful. Glad it won't scar and hope it isn't too painful.

Love the coat liberty. Shame about the service in Sandro. I once had really bad service in their Selfridges concession. I put it down to the fact that the assistant couldn't be bothered to go down to the basement to get another size but she was pretty rude and I felt deflated and came home empty handed. Thought they were on commission?!

Lots of luck for the surgery One.

I also cart around a heavy handbag for work days. I have a tan tote from Hobbs. I do like it but would never use it outside work!

LinusDKD · 17/09/2013 07:28

Good luck today one!

mom i hope you heal well without any scarring!

OneLittleLady · 17/09/2013 07:35

Mom hope you're not in pain and that you heal well.

Trying to decide on an outfit easy to handle in a sling! Despite it being grey and wet out, it may have to be the old elasticated waist maxi skirt and slip on boots. Definitely not going to be very stylish for a while! I shall have to live stylishly through you lot Grin
