A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Now you've said that I think I'll put it back on my rental list. I was thinking the other day that I need to watch Amelie again too - it's been years. I was listening to the Yan Tiersen soundtrack - happiness inducing. Right, DS is napping - I'm off to sit in front of the log fire and stroke my Dagmar whilst reading the Sunday papers.

I spotted a pair of dark denim baby boot cuts....will have been high end this friend v into her jeans , I forgot to look at her feet! Apart from that not much of note and dim lighting .....you are my fashion friends! My boots were commented on.
Marsha I'll add that film to my Lovefilm list.

Drywhiteplease · 15/09/2013 14:38

Shop Style mag is a goodie......

shopafrolic · 15/09/2013 14:44

Style mag is AMAZING. Grumpy your Oasis leather skirt is in there. Waves to all the Style journos! Didn't think much to the excerpt from Alexa's book tho. But I love her outfit on P65 - Maje jeans with leather front and fab RL jumper.

Home sweet home. Had a fab drunken weekend. Still haven't managed to shake off the aches that I had earlier in the week and my sinus' are now feeling blocked so I'm now sitting on the sofa in track suit trousers and fleece (Nike and north face so relatively stylish Grin). Wish I had the Sunday times to browse.

dry your outfit sounds fab. How far did you turn/roll up your jeans? Did you have a gap between boot and jeans? I'm thinking of getting heeled boots to wear out with my straight legs like that.

shop definitely keep the m&s coat as sounds like you love it. You could maybe return the other and put money to pistols?

Dd has driven me mad all weekend. She's v v demanding at the moment. I'm guessing it comes with being a 3rd child and making sure she is heard? I'd rather her like that than all shy and quiet though but I've decided that tomorrow is a day for just me. She's at nursery, the other 2 at school and I'm hitting the shops.

QueenCadbury · 15/09/2013 14:59

one block heels will be your friend rather than stiletto or kitten type heels. Or maybe wedges. You can get those scholl party feet things which may help with the balls of your feet.

QueenCadbury · 15/09/2013 15:00

I love her. Can't wait to wear my black wool shorts and opaques again.

OneLittleLady · 15/09/2013 15:04

I thought block heels QueenC I tend to avoid stilettos anyway as I have big legs and feel like I look unbalanced with spindly heels IYKWIM?

QueenCadbury · 15/09/2013 15:20

Anyone doing distressed jeans for AW? I can't quite decide whether I still like mine or not...

Umlauf · 15/09/2013 15:24

Hanks shop marsha and amber I shall look out that suede protector.

Somehow queenC I manage to do the distressed look very well in my best tailored suits so I will be sticking to smart dark indigo in the hope of looking vaguely presentable. Anyone else a natural scruff?! I blame my hair.

MrsRadicchio · 15/09/2013 15:35

Hello all, hope you're having good Sundays. V rainy here.

Dry you looked v glam and were those your new SE boots? Sounds like a good night. I'm not really keen on formal dining rooms (for me) - what have you done with yours?

One I would agree with Queen about the block heels. Something to spread the weight evenly across your foot. I think people can get used to wearing heels though the more they wear them. I have actually given up on heels. I really like flat or small heeled shoes / boots.

Queen I have a few black boots but do think brown is more versatile (though shouldn't be wearing that as a winter Wink )

I don't have any distressed jeans but think they would be fine to continue wearing for AW. Think they are still in the shops.

Umlauf how about a parka? Does it get cold / wet where you are? A lot of parkas have warmth but fit the casual wardrobe you would have with a newborn.

Have you looked at Wearing It Today blog? She is v stylish and had a baby last year. This is her post about how she kept her style mojo post baby. Practical clothes but all done in a v glam way.

MrsRadicchio · 15/09/2013 15:38

Sleep are you feeling better rested.

Umlauf I have PMed you.

MarshaBrady · 15/09/2013 15:56

I don't think I can do distressed jeans either. I am halfway on a scruffy to neat line. But I need to keep my clothes in the middle too, not too neat, not too scruffy otherwise I just feel wrong. I think they are fine to wear however.

Not quite fashion. But if your dc could do anything they liked in London for a day, any budget, what do you think they would love to do most?

Umlauf · 15/09/2013 15:57

Thank you MrsR! I have recently started reading WIT and really like her, she bridges the gap between DMBL40 and a couple of other blogs I quite like run by uni friends, South Molton St Style and Canned Fashion. I also really like Amber's blog, especially the bag Sundays!

Does anyone have any other blog recommendations? I don't have any patience for blogs where you have to "click to view full post" and they must be based in Europe!

MarshaBrady · 15/09/2013 16:00

Umlauf I just do pin mostly. Are you on pinterest? WIT is fab. Also Le Catch is fabulous but sadly in the US

There's another one that ends up on pin all the time but her name is always hard to remember. Camille over the Rainbow I think.

MrsRadicchio · 15/09/2013 16:02

Umlauf are you friends with Anna from South Molton Street? I really like her blog.

I also like the Frugality Love her style, she writes about other stuff too.

shopafrolic · 15/09/2013 16:05

distressed I'm wearing today as boyfriends.

Drywhiteplease · 15/09/2013 16:09

QueenC look at the pic on MNV pin board. I have short legs so didn't want too much gap showing. Distressed jeans aren't for me....I live in the ones in the picture (Gap teal straight) ....I keep trying a darker wash but somehow they just don't look good on me.
MrsR yes they're my new Steve Madden from Dune (the last size 6 in the country!)

M and S animal flats have sold out apparently.

Is WIT back? Love her........

Umlauf · 15/09/2013 16:09

Yes we were on the same course at uni together, I remember her in FatFace jeans and England Rugby tops! ^wistful sighs^ she's done really well!

Ill try the Frugality, I like the name! I'm on Pinterest marsha I follow you Blush under my RL name but only have one clothes board. Off to google Over the Rainbow now.

MarshaBrady · 15/09/2013 16:16

Oh no it's good Umlauf we all follow each other here! Grin, I only really notice if it's the same mn name, then only just!

shopafrolic · 15/09/2013 16:20

Yes Umlauf follow away!

MarshaBrady · 15/09/2013 16:20

Looking at South Molton St Style, looks good. Must be fun doing all the fashion shows.

OneLittleLady · 15/09/2013 16:22

I think I'm following you all.....

MarshaBrady · 15/09/2013 16:26

I like this distressed jean look with lace and ankle boots. I can see many of you rocking this look.

OneLittleLady · 15/09/2013 16:32

I deliberately avoid distressed look jeans as I greatly fear they'd make me look bigger than I am. I find a plain jean far more flattering if I'm honest. I do have a couple of pairs of skinnies with embellishments round the pockets, like studs and spikes but that's as far as I go
