A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

The pin tales of quinoa are brilliant mig! Love it!

The coat looks really lovely Anni. And I agree with everyone else - I have hair envy.

Sounds like a great day Linus. Enjoy your dinner. Was wondering if there were any cross body bags you'd recommend? I've been looking for a while but need to see them in real life and haven't had a chance to do any real life shopping in ages.

Weather here is awful. Evening in with DH and wine and takeaway. Lovely.

mignonette · 13/09/2013 19:24

Dry what ya cookin'? and what nail colour? Mine are chipped grey by OPI.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 19:28

Sainsburys have Christmas chocolate in already!?

Thanks Mcnally :o

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 19:37

And Liberty have opened their Christmas shop. Hurrah.

Thanks Anni!

Have a lovely time Linus. Tarte tatin is a family favourite (French gm) reading your post made me feel nostalgic.

So nice to be home tonight. Salute everyone. Actually we have nothing here, but will find something else.

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 19:40

MrsR I love your pins. The blue coat and the sweater the colours are fabulous for you.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 19:41

Anni darker jeans would totally work. It's a definite keeper if a size down is too small. Good tip on car insurance - thanks
Dry a bit late with the invite?! Have fun you xx
Love that little diva's board Mig reminds me of the stuff they did for Tom Cruise and Katie H's little one where she slated VB etc......
I am in a lousy mood tonight so may disappear and come back tomorrow with a new attitude. Can't bear dragging other people down when I'm low. Have fun nights all. Hopefully the rain will stop and I can wear my new coat tomorrow!

OOOHHH Liberty Christmas shop! And the Selfridges windows. And the Rockerfeller Plaza tree.

Aw Shop sorry to hear that. The car-less thing is awful. I hope the week goes very fast for you and I don;t normally try to wish life away but for you I'll make an exception.

Decam They're gorgeous. Love the pin.

libertychick · 13/09/2013 20:50

Hope you feel better soon Shop

LinusDKD · 13/09/2013 20:52

shop (((hugs))) I hope you feel better soon as I love reading your posts.

mcnally let me think about crossbody bags, feeling a bit tired tipsy now.

marsha I had another dessert tonight:warm apricots with thyme, Bulgarian ice cream (aka yoghurt ice cream) and a nice crunchy tuile.

In my defense, I only had a starter and not a main course.

DH and I had a lovely time but he did announce more traveling. Sigh.

santamarianovella · 13/09/2013 21:09

linus you evening sounds wonderful, tarte tatin....mmm noe im hungry!

mcnally nothing beats an evening in with takeaway.

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 21:21

Anni I almost bought some mince pies love them in Asda yesterday .....couldn't quite do it,won't be long....bloody love Christmas!!!Grin

Mig...the menu:

2 salads...
rice, spring onions, coriander, mint, mango, red chilli, lemon juice, peanuts. bit heavy with chillies, think I'll blow their heads off,may have to remake
B nut squash cubed and roasted in olive oil with cumin, spinach, feta cheese and roasted pine nuts (will assemble tomorrow)

Veggies....goats cheese and red onion marmalade tartlets....pastry cases made, assemble tomorrow . pastry a bit concrete like, but I'll get them pissed beforehand

Butterflied leg of lamb and garlic chicken kebabs ....from my fab butcher, on BBQ tomorrow.

Baby new pots roasted with garlic cloves all washed and ready to roast

Chocolate torte made with ground almonds lovely and moist will serve with raspberries
A Danish apple cake, lots of cinammon
Both made and will make crème chantilly to go with both.

Lots of nibbles and dips and of course booze in fridge already.....also have my home made damson gin as a digestif.

Nails drying....a Rimmel rip off of Particuliere called "Beige babe"

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 21:23

Shop Wine can't you get a courtesy car? Can you walk DS to pre school? Nightmare. Wine

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 21:27

God that's impressive Dry!

libertychick · 13/09/2013 21:31

Dry I am going to write that down and copy exactly for the next time I entertain!!! Great menu - Envy your guests!

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 21:37

Marsha bloody love it when I have the kitchen to myself, radio on, glass or 2 of wine....cooking like that is great. I hate the every day drudge of thinking of family meals. I also love, love, love having friends over for food ESP when it's all done in advance

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 21:38

Liberty any recipes you need I can bring to MU, seriously recommend both puds

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 21:49

I love that Dry, so nice! I'd have to ditch those putty coloured Sam Edelman boots Grin

libertychick · 13/09/2013 21:51

Dry would be great if you would bring the puddings recipes - they sound fantastic. I used all disposable stuff at my 40th BBQ - keeps things much easier. I'd be Grin at that invite!

foxysocks · 13/09/2013 21:58

that sounds FAB dry

no shopping here, unless bifold doors count. been super bisy but will hopefully drop in occasionally over next few weeks as my life gets turned upside down. still in AGA deliberations, and have added granite dilemmas to list - honed or not?! #middleclassnightmares

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 21:59

I've found the type of entertaining that suits us. Used to do a lot of formal dinner parties and just made me feel a bit of a pratt, show off, annoyed at having to interrupt a good conversation because my timer was ringing ....now I have discovered that I much prefer a more laid back type of night, where it's all done in advance and flows....partly why we're getting rid of our dining room. Our friends aren't stuffy and when we have work people/clients I think they enjoy a less formal time too.

Have just realised my favorite things all start with "f" ...family,friends,fashion and food.

libertychick · 13/09/2013 22:04

Grin at Foxy's middleclassnightmares! I can't advise unfortunately, know nothing about Agas or granite.

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 22:13

Bifold doors are v exciting Foxy!

foxysocks · 13/09/2013 22:13

we don't have a dining room either dry. what would be the dining room is a yoga room, MUCH better Grin

forgot about my new lovely socks.... i LOVE socks.... they are cashmere falke knee highs and just delish. wore today with the biker boots of joy and a dress that I bought post-baby and have just had a friend alter for me so it actually fits rather than just hang shapelessly. what IS it about baby brain that produces these random buys? I cannot be the only one!

she also altered a cobalt silk beaded flapper dress from a 12 to an 8 (bought when PG with DD) so it now fits. if anyone in the SW or west of london (she is based in reading) needs a seamstress I can pass on her details, she did a great job with some very intricate beading and quality silk.

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 22:24

Forgot the roasted cherry tomatoes with basil and balsamic vinegar!!! Yummy.....

Sleepwhenidie · 13/09/2013 23:22

Woozy hello from me, I cooked steaks and have been on the red wine, just finished watching 'what to expect when you are expecting', sort of obvious and mindless, just what we needed tonight Grin. We have a date night tomorrow Smile.

Dry please can I get those recipes too? All sounds amazing. Our kind of entertaining too Smile. my favourite for that sort of evening is Nigellas 24hr pork with salads, delicious. What are you going to use your dining room for?

Anni coat looks lovely(as does hair!), it's a beautiful colour. I too would like to see a size down to compare but only you know how it feels.

Dashed into Trilogy before school pick up today and tried on the Frame skinnies, they are gorgeous fabric but possibly too jegging like for me. I sized up, as advised by Santa and the shop - they definitely are on the smaller fitting size, still only just squeezed into them Smile. They are getting the skinny boyfriends in for me to try.
