A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Oh and I didn't see Liberty's comment about your hair when I wrote my post - so that's two of us independently saying it rocks! :)

LinusDKD · 13/09/2013 15:24

Make that three anni! I seriously Envy your hair.

That coat looks lovely on you, especially the colour.

shop hope your care gets fixed soon and that the bill is not too £££

shoe welcome! And again, Envy about your height.

grumpy very tempted to have a look at Massimo Dutti next week but I shouldn't as a winter coat is my priority now.

novice I get jetlag just reading about your travels.

Just had a lovely lunch (steak tartare and chips, yum!) with DPIL at the lake and the weather was gorgeous. Cold and sunny, my favourite weather.

mignonette · 13/09/2013 15:31

LIberty

Go navy. And yes, for the kind of work you do I would go for a fairly stiff satchel that'll hold everything. I have an Ally Capellino for all my case notes etc and a tall tote for my cinbin and nursing supplies but need to consolidate the two. I bought stepD the Zatchels bucket bag/camera case bag in purple. She loves it but it is very little.

I am eating a whole tub of Joe Delucci's coconut gelato. All of it. Yum [need a pig face icon]

LinusDKD · 13/09/2013 15:32

I have been looking for the perfect cobalt bag and I have finally found it

pashli

The only problem is that I really, really don't need another bag and least of all an ££££ one.

But I WANT it!

mignonette · 13/09/2013 15:35

That is gorgeous Linus

I have visions of you rolling tantruming on the floor of the store-who wouldn't love to do that and see the faces?

LinusDKD · 13/09/2013 15:37

mig I only saw it online just now but my DPIL were looking at me funnily when I started stamping my feet, scowling and pouting until I had tears in my eyes. Wink

libertychick · 13/09/2013 15:38

Grin at Mig and the gelato. Linus your lunch sounds wonderful, food, location and weather all perfect.

I am veering towards navy - I posted another thread about it too and it sounds like I would still need a small handbag for sundries but while I like squashy bags I think the stiffness of the satchel would be quite sensible for work.

libertychick · 13/09/2013 15:40

Linus great bag, worth a tantrum Smile

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 15:50

Good afternoon from drizzly Yorkshire!Smile

Day1 of no black challenge;
Old Favorite InWear airforce blue knitted trapeze above knee trapeze dress
Black opaques and M and S slippers shoes don't count

Shop wheels in opposite direction!!!Shock
MrsR greatest on colour, but that's how I dress already, I'm obviously going a bit extreme Shock not brave enough to do red/fushia yet but building up to it!
Liberty I bought the Merrell Wakefield (they do a new equivalent) last year. Not an exciting buy,but boy is it waterproof....CPW excellent. One of my best buys ever.
QueenC I love Pink's burgundy lipstick......tried it years ago with v pale face and smokey eyes, sadly a look that on darker colouring looks dramatic, just made me look like a dead body Shock
Anni I love a strong, angular hair cut....fab. Nice coat too.
Shoe hello great name
Novice does your body get all mixed up? How's the jet lag? Incredible.

15 for dinner tomorrow in our little summer house....can't wait....the cookathpn started last night, more prep in a minute then I can relax and hit the Wine tomorrow pm. Dress code "glam with Wellies ", will have to walk on grass!!!Grin

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 15:50

Linus cute bag - but teeny tiny?

OP posts:
mignonette · 13/09/2013 16:05

Dry sounds like a busy weekend. We plan to go blackberrying Grin. i will try not to wear inappropriate shoes, something i always end up doing. Last time i was in the area, it was to scatter FIL's ashes only MIL failed to tell me we were doing the equivalent of mountaineering up mud. So i sloshed about muttering curses under my breath instead of feeling all spiritual and stuff. DH was in fits of hysterical laughter because the ashes wouldn't blow away and it looked like somebody had emptied their hoover bag all over the woodland (sorry, bit inappropriate).

Linus your lunch was healthier and more balanced then mine but I justify mine by the fact that coconut is a 'fruit' therefore one of my five a day and I won't get Osteoporosis if I eat loads of ice cream Grin. I do feel sick now and have to negotiate the stinky old tube.

Anni Great hair, great coat. I think maybe you could go down a size but these coats are meant to be enveloping but w/ a sharp sleeve hence the shorter bracelet sleeves. They play w/ proportion.

I saw VB in one and her sleeves looked the same. It also emphasises the delicacy of wrists; the cocoon snuggly silhouette w/ slim wrists revealed. What do others think?

AmberNectarine · 13/09/2013 16:14

I'm a bugger for losing things too. It was my anniversary this week and DH had to buy me exactly the same necklace her did last year as I lost it! It's an Alex Monroe rose gold prawn.

Am having my biannual 'pretend I'm in the Hush catalogue' day today, wearing burgundy hush sloppy joe dress, navy leggings and grey Jalouse. Not really my look at all but it's comfy.

mignonette · 13/09/2013 16:28

Grin at Amber.

I do that as Winter approaches- pretending I am Toast girl in Toast World. It basically involves personal mummification w/ as many blankets and throws as I can find finished off w/ grey felt Birkies.

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2013 16:44

Grin Amber. I have had to errrm replace a couple of items myself on my own credit card (our main one is joint) rather than have to fess up that I had lost it again. Blush

Anni, you have gorgeous swishy hair just like MrsR! Grin

Liberty yes please! If there is anything that you are keen to get rid of, then would have to take it off your hands. I can always start a new box if need be.

Dry, since this year, I struggle with jet lag when I am there, quite badly but total lack of sleep means that I am knackered when I get back. I normally try and get back first thing Friday because it means spend time with the dcs but my nanny is also here if i want a nap, or if i have to work (like today) then we mix work and play. Dd was so excited because I went to pick her up from school as a surprise Grin

mig, I wish. I miss beach holidays. Sigh. You are making think about ice cream in my freezer by the way. Stooop! .

santamarianovella · 13/09/2013 17:08

ani great coat, the color suits you, would love to see a pic with boots on, awesome hair!

shoe welcome! stick around,

novice respect! i would cry if i ever done that!

.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 17:10

I am car -less for at least a week - with a toddler - OH GOD!
Dry can I come to a party in your hut please? I'd bring marshmallows and style Grin
Novice PM
Trying to renew my car insurance - I called up about my renewal figure, told them I was looking around for better deals and within 2 minutes the price had dropped by £60 - Hmm I'm going to keep them hanging - that sucks!
My M&S coat is hanging on the front of my wardrobe - I'm in love.
I bet I love the See by Chloe peacoat more - how to choose?

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 17:17

Anni I love the coat on you, I think it's a perfect colour too for you due to your lovely hair!

Shoe welcome, great blouse. Stick around.

Liberty I think the navy.

Linus I love Phillip Lim, such a nice colour.

Novice welcome back you must be exhausted!

Sleep I love the Maje dress very much.

Great news on the fab delivery Grumpy.

And I have nothing to add as I have been at the Mac working for two days!

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2013 17:36

Hi Marsha!!! How is the work going? So happy for you!

Santa it's no harder than being at home all day with toddlers Grin, speaking of which, Shop you poor thing! {{hugs}}

mignonette · 13/09/2013 17:37

This is hilarious.

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2013 17:44

Hi Novice! Really great, I'm enjoying it. It's great to be part of an exciting brief, but from home. It's definitely how I feel happiest. I'm really enjoying the stuff I'm working on atm.

Oh no Shop about the car! I had that once and had to get a bus from ds1's school. It took such a long time to get home, winding path and bad traffic,. What is 10 minutes in the car took 2 hours by the time we got home! It quickly dashed any romantic ideas of being car-less. I hope it isn't so bad for you!

LinusDKD · 13/09/2013 18:02

Oh no shop! I hope it gets fixed sooner!

The P. Lim bag is quite small but I use crossbody bags a lot at the moment with DC so my last two bags have been small.
It does exist in a medium and large size but those are even more ££££

Right, quickly hopping in the shower before dinner with DH. I might stick to salad though after those chips at lunchtime (and forgot to mention the tarte tatin for pudding Blush ).

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 18:10

Have a lovely evening Linus

OP posts:
Annianni · 13/09/2013 18:22

Thanks everyone... I'm now hiding behind my hair Blush

I know what you mean Shop, and thanks for being honest, but I tried the smaller size in the grey cocoon and the navy wool coat, and they looked ok open, but awful fastened.
And I've got enough jackets and coats that are just a bit too small.

I'd like it to be big enough to wear over my slouchy cashmere.
And it's primarily a daytime/shopping type coat for smarter days, and for any evening's out fat chance with dh.

I'll try it again on Monday, with my grey all saints boots (both pairs) and with my Jenny's.
I think it'll look better with darker denim too.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 18:28

Hope you get your car fixed sooner Shop I would go insane have you tried putting your mum or dad on your insurance as an occasional driver?
I put my mum on mine and it makes it quite a bit cheaper.

Glad work's going well Marsha.

Gorgeous bag Linus.

Drywhiteplease · 13/09/2013 18:44
