A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Hi ladies! I have been lurking on this thread for ages, but never had the confidence to post, as I'm still trying to get my style groove on (been in the maternity leave wilderness and paired with a feral toddler, my self confidence has been battered of late). Anyway, I'm slowly getting some items in my wardrobe and am starting to see what suits my body. So, I nipped into Sainsbury's this morning, and bought this beauty:-

Pretty blouse

With a pair of grey skinnies, it looks very classy (I'm 5' 10" and an 8 so it creates a bit of depth up top, without adding any bulk).

Keep up the good work ladies. Threads like this keep people like me motivated to get their style mojos back!

love that outfit Liberty! Envy Grumpy, the goodies sound so fab!

Mig, I flew from Heathrow on Sunday afternoon and after 8 hours ish arrived 6.30pm local time on the island. raced off the plane, through Immigration and took taxi to hotel where i showered, changed, put on make up and left again, arriving bang on 8pm for work dinner. Next morning did it all again to arrive bang on 8am for a 3 hour meeting. Left there for Airport just before 11am and my plane took off for the US at 12.30pm!!! I was exaggerating when I said 24 hours, I was there 18 hoursShock

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2013 13:23

Hellooooo shoeprincess!!!! So glad you posted. All 5'10" of you!EnvyEnvy I love that blouse. If I was tall its the kind of thing I would wear. Do you have a pin board? What other things do you like?

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 13:27

nivice no wonder you lose so much when you have such a hectic schedule! I had a skirt similar to the BR one you nearly bought but found it hard to style.

grumpy glad the latest clothes are good. Must remember to check out MD when in London.

shoeprincess welcome. Do join us. I in particular love a blouse and jeans.

mrsR I'd probably be dull and pair the skirt with navy or black. migs ideas are much better.

Can't remember who linked the lamb blog but I found her piece on airbrushing fascinating. I often see ads where the celeb looks virtually unrecognisable and wonder why they bother with actual people at all. You may as well use a doll.

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 13:31

mrsR do you follow the colour combination pin board? Was just browsing for inspiration and came across this pin. I know your skirt is lighter than this one but I do like raspberry and iced mint/aqua together although it's a bugger to find anything in the ice colours.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 13:32

Welcome shoeprincess 5ft 10 and a size 8?? Wow
The feral toddler gets you in in my book!
And such a pretty blouse. Stick around and yes to Pin.
My car has been sat in the middle of our high street since 8.30am - I am not popular with the locals!!

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 13:33

Novice parcel packed up and ready to go but DS shoes went to my mum's church to send to another charity so just my old tops - hope they're ok.......

shoeprincess2 · 13/09/2013 13:42

Thanks for your warm welcome. No pinboard yet novice- I should put something together. A little job for me on pinterest, methinks. Stuff I like? Pretty plain items. As a soft summer, I suit greys, navy, teals and taupes and burgundy so I tend to stick to those colours. I love Uniqlo items (jerseys, skinnies and cashmere knits) as they are my staple items for work at the moment. I don't really go out much, so dressy items take a back seat, but if out for drinks after work, I'd probably wear a fitted shell top and either black trousers or skinnies and heels.

I'll get pinning some stuff and then share Smile

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 13:53

Just seen on dmbl40 that you gt 10% off those seven boots.

Dh is away on a conference in Cornwall this weekend so has packed his wetsuit, body board and bike Hmm so the kids and I are off to stay with a friend whose dh is also away. Probably won't get chance to use my iPad much. Anyone lease got plans for the weekend?

BrandyAlexander · 13/09/2013 13:56

Shop, that's so kind of you. Thank you! I know everyone supports different charities (there are so many good causes) so I really appreciate you passing your old stuff to me. Xxx My box is almost full, just need to twist my sisters arm for a few things then the shipping folks will come.

QueenC, glad it's not just me, it's so pretty but styling was exactly what I was struggling with.

Shoepincess look forward to seeing your future links!

mignonette · 13/09/2013 13:57

Oh Novice my bloody head is spinning just from reading that. Will you get to a beach soon?

Shoe Hi there [waves]. Lovely, pretty blouse. Good find. Get thee on Pin so we can fully embrace you. Love the blouse styling-bet you look super elegant.

mignonette · 13/09/2013 13:59

Queen she looks so pretty before the airbrush. And less so after.

libertychick · 13/09/2013 13:59

Welcome shoeprincess Smile

Quiet weekend for me QueenC, may try to sort out the house a bit - I need to declutter and I have some business admin to do, invoices, banking etc

Have just seen that Zatchels are doing 20% off for fashion week - code is FASHIONWEEK. I am thinking of getting one for work. Would appreciate opinions - Navy feels like the sensible, but not as boring as black or brown, choice but there is something about the raspberry elephant print that I really like but worry I will get tired of it.

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 14:00

Get both Wink

libertychick · 13/09/2013 14:02

Novice how much room do you have left in the box? I have loads of baby/toddler clothes to get rid of....

libertychick · 13/09/2013 14:03

Helpful QueenC v v helpful Grin

Annianni · 13/09/2013 14:10

Full length photos of me wearing the burgundy Cos coat on the mnv pin board!
eek!!! Shock

Please be gentle, I'm feeling rather fragile today...

QueenCadbury · 13/09/2013 14:15

I really like it anni. How do you feel about it?

liberty I really like the raspberry one and it would probably fit well in your wardrobe. One thing I would say about the zatchels is that they're very stiff. I've got the saddle bag in red and you can't squeeze loads in like you can in a squishy bag. Other than that I love it.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 14:33

I like it Queenc, it's lovely and soft.
It's very simple which I wanted. The colour's fab and it's a nice cocoon shape.

I need to try it with different jeans and my boots.
I feel like a weeble today!

Lovely blouse Shoe, stick around Smile

I've just sold my zatchel on ebay, literally 10 minutes ago Liberty :o
I hated not being able to fit anything in it, and I found the buckle annoying, with it being underneath.

libertychick · 13/09/2013 14:41

Anni the coat is lovely, great colour and shape, looks very classic. BTW your hair is gorgeous Smile

QueenC I have just realised the raspberry isn't available right now as they don't have the leather. I have wondered at the stiffness but partly that appeals to me, I need it to carry a laptop and notebooks for work so the stiffness makes it feel a bit more solid than a squashy bag - but on the other hand, I want to stop my current thing of carrying two bags all the time so I do want it to be roomy enough to take the laptop, papers etc but also my purse, phone and the usual handbag stuff.

Annianni · 13/09/2013 14:45

Thanks Liberty Blush

I vote for the navy satchel.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 14:50

Anni your hair is awesome! I think the colour is fab on you. I'd be interested to see it on you with boots with a heel and some slimmer legged jeans as at the moment I worry that it's making you look bigger than you actually are?

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 13/09/2013 14:56

Please don't take what I've said as a criticism BTW - I'm actually wondering if you can go down a size Anni?
