A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

Just done my nails and applied polish.

How do people get the white bits at the top to be white? Mine sort of go patchy and transparent rather than white Confused

Gracie990 · 24/08/2013 17:14

I've been to aldi to buy enough veg to make masses of soup. I'm going to batch freeze it. It should help as a healthy veg packed lunch everyday.

Broccoli and Stilton simmering away.

I also bough new nail polish, face cream, and a mineral powder puff thingy.

PiratesLifeForMe · 24/08/2013 17:18

I'm in. Felt so out of shape & messy today I couldn't find anything to wear that I didn't feel frumpy in just to go for a wander round the shops. How stupid is that? I wasn't even meeting anyone.

Im sure tomorrow I'll feel a bit better (less hermitty) but no day seems to be an I feel great day at the mo so something needs to be done. Definitely need to feel more groomed too.

Have made my list - just trying to decide if its better to jump in feet first and make the changes all in one go or build it up.

Upping the exercise & not downing the glasses of wine will be my first real challenge!

bigkidsdidit · 24/08/2013 17:42

I've bought imedeen and the Brazilian hair straightening kit recommended hre on amazon :) and had lots of water. Having takeaway for dinner to celebrate the final batch of visitors leaving though!

Will have a bath and body brush and exfoliate once the nippers are asleep. Need wine too, just had a landlord inspection. I hate them, so squashing. Roll on next year and buying a house!

Anyway, so I'm getting in the swing :)

MoDiddly · 24/08/2013 17:51

I've lurked and taken ideas from previous threads but never gone full on before.

I'm in from beginning September - new job, new term, new fitter me. Bring it on Grin

perplexedpirate · 24/08/2013 18:17

I'm in. I've totally let myself go recently. I joined the gym last week and I've been to a few classes, but I'm been a total slob round the house and with food.
I've also joined WW online. I just need to do it!
Off to eBay for crest white strips...

Engelsemama · 24/08/2013 18:29

I am in!

Whoknowswhocares · 24/08/2013 18:37

Me too please!
Grooming is a major downfall for me. Be never bothered with lotions and potions at all that much, so will be on the lookout for recommendations on great products

MumbleBag · 24/08/2013 18:41

1st September to start sounds good to me.

Just a quick question. How much water counts as a glass? Our glasses are huge and I don't think I could drink 8 a day using them but maybe I'm wrong.

Haribojoe · 24/08/2013 18:50

I'm in, having been trying to motivate myself to start grooming and looking after myself more.
Now that my pregnancy and tiny baby days are over it's time to start being an actual person me not just a Mum.
Going shopping this week for lotions and potions. Roll on 1st September Smile

ExactlyWhat · 24/08/2013 18:50

Loving everyone's enthusiasm, really motivating to read, thanks!
When DCs in bed, I will be shredding, then have found a Philip Kingsley hair treatment thing from ages ago (hopefully still ok?) and am going to repaint the hideously chipped toenails which I am currently sporting.
Have been doing 5:2 food wise the past 3 weeks ish, but on my non fasting days not been eating very healthily so am going to change that.
Also planning on removing make up every night. Gross I know, but I don't always do it... Until now!

ExactlyWhat · 24/08/2013 18:53

MumbleBag my glasses are large also. I looked it up a few months ago and think daily recommendations is 2 litres a day so guess measure how much your glasses hold to work it out? I usually have about 5 of my large ones

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 24/08/2013 19:15

I am a testimony to the effectiveness of The Shred. Started mid July 157.5lb and size 14-16 trousers.
Today I weigh 144lb and have just bought 29 inch waist jeans.
I am 42 and 5'6.
I have also been eating primal/low carb and going a 500 calorie fast once or twice a week. Pics on profile of 6 weeks into Shred.

Now off for a pedi and cleaned face with coconut oil today. Must dig out crest strips.

Loving thread :)

TheYamiOfYawn · 24/08/2013 19:19

I think I will have an early night with a notebook doing some Amazon Queen planning.

ExactlyWhat · 24/08/2013 19:24

trucks wow, you look amazing, body envy!!
Was just thinking might start shred tomorrow but no, will do tonight!

Danceasifnooneswatching · 24/08/2013 19:27

I am in need to order crest strips any recommendation as to where I can get them?

ViviDeBeauvoir · 24/08/2013 19:48

Trucks - you look amazing!
Almost convinced me to get the shred DVD out. . .
Today has been a good start - gave myself a mini manicure/pedicure and painted my toenails. Also after buying the dye 2 months ago dyed my hair.
This evening I'm going to make a 2 week meal plan to get back onto paleo and write a to do list like the one up thread.
This is going to be great for me as ex has really pissed me off today so need a bit of a wind down (deliberately didn't buy wine!)

INeedSomeHelp · 24/08/2013 21:35

I got my haircut yesterday and today went to my boot camp class for 90 minutes. I go to boot camp three times a week but was thinking of doing the Shred on the other days - not sure if that will just totally kill me though!

PrivateBenjamin · 24/08/2013 21:42

DanceAsIfNoonesWatching I think they're illegal in England because they contain too much peroxide. You can buy them on ebay but I've heard they work by slightly stripping off the top layer of your teeth so eventually your teeth with be more yellow, and sensitive, because they'll have no enamel left.

Haven't tried it yet but coconut oil swilled around your mouth for 20 minutes a day is meant to be really good for your teeth (plus other health benefits). Or some bicarbonate of soda on your normal toothpaste is known for whitening teeth. I will try that as soon as my 3kg from ebay arrives .

LaVitaBellissima · 24/08/2013 22:41

oil pulling this is the coconut oil mouthwash thingie, I'd also read this, maybe I will start too :)

SlobAtHome · 24/08/2013 23:26

OK so I have ordered an Elemis body brush! Never heard of it before this thread.
Surely you don't need to exfoliate you body after doing this? Surely that IS the exfoliation?

Also need to buy lemons...

SlobAtHome · 24/08/2013 23:27

In addition to only having fish once a week, and not being able to lose any more weight, I will only use whitening tooth paste.

I will add stopping my cheeky ciggies in the eve though!

SlobAtHome · 24/08/2013 23:27

Plus my hair is already thick and very soft so I best not put anything else in it!

therumoursaretrue · 25/08/2013 00:57

I'm soooo excited for this, going to try to get my mum to do it too.

I won't be doing Shred but I do PT 3 times a week, the squat challenge everyday, pilates and Zumba once a week. Also do insanity training with DP as and when I can fit it in, so I guess that lot should be a good substitute.
