A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

Thanks Yami, I will look into it.
Going to do Callanetics vid today, would highly recommend for toning and strengthening. I just tried on some clothes as managed to escape to shops for an hour and was unpleasantly surprised by the lumpiness confronting me in the mirror!

enormouse · 24/08/2013 11:37

Is it going to start properly on the 15th September? Blush

HelgatheHairy · 24/08/2013 11:59

I've lost track of days a bit and just realised that today is only the 24th (my phone reminded me it's our wedding annivsery today!). So do people want to wait till the 15th which is 100 days to Christmas Eve or should we start on 1st September? If we started on 1st we could consider the first 2 weeks as a settling in period.

Start on Sunday 1st / Monday 2nd for me. Always makes it more sensible if I have a specific start date IYSWIM!

therumoursaretrue · 24/08/2013 12:23

I'm in! Happy to start anytime. Getting engaged has motivated me to get back to my old self so definitely need a bit of princessing!

enormouse · 24/08/2013 12:25

1st sounds good to me.

Fairyliz · 24/08/2013 12:38

Blimey I will try but worried about fitting it all in and my kids are grown up. How do you mums with babies and toddlers fit it all in?
More to the point how do you get in the bathroom without someone crying/ shouting 'mum'?

Gracie990 · 24/08/2013 12:47

I second the shred ( free on u tube)
I've been for a 6 mile run.
Just about to shower and get dressed.

DorisShutt · 24/08/2013 12:48

Erm... I'm planning to skip bits that I know don't work for me (eye cream brings me out in spots so I'm just planning to use normal moisturiser but more delicately!) and add bits in (so make sure my spots are covered up daily etc)

However - a few questions... What is hair oil and how do you use it, and what is body brushing?

GirlsonFilm · 24/08/2013 12:54

Count me in. I've decided that somethings got to change if I want to be fabulous at forty so a 100 day challenge is just the thing to get moving in the right direction.

Karbea · 24/08/2013 13:17

1st works for me.

doris the hair oil I use is a bumble and bumble one, I put one squirt in my hands, rub hands together and then distribute the oil in the bottom half of my hair, I do this after my detangler and heat resistant spray, I use it to help keep my hair on good condition, but some use it for defrizzing, you can apply it after styling to get rid of flyaway, frizzy bits.

Body brushing is exactly that, but you have to brush towards your heart, good for circulation, my brush is an elemis one, had it for years, hardly used it :/

HelgatheHairy · 24/08/2013 13:48

doris I'm going to be customising the list as well. Intensive exercise is out for now - not least because DD doesn't like being put down!

I use Loreal extraordinary hair oil. I shampoo hair, comb through, 2 pumps oil and let dry naturally. My hair is fine but has a bit of a wave so this lets my hair lovely and shiny and a bit of movement.

Karbea · 24/08/2013 14:05

I'll probably customised the list too, I'll probably add one thing in a day too, otherwise I'll get a bit overwhelmed and stressed by it all :/

enormouse · 24/08/2013 14:09

Yep I can't really do the shred (thank god) but I'll be doing lots of walking and some pregnancy yoga/Pilates if I can find some local classes.

Wrt hair oil I buy a teeny bottle of argan amaryllis oil from my hairdressers and it lasts 2-3 months on my pixie short hair.

PrivateBenjamin · 24/08/2013 14:15

Yay, I'm in too! I have the shred (still in mint cellophane and three years old) so I need a pair of decent trainers then I can do it.

Used to love the warm lemon water in the morning, but always used a straw to avoid getting the acid on my teeth. What counts as a healthy breakfast? I can't eat first thing and then have a massive commute so mine needs to be something i can eat at my desk. Fruit salad with nuts?

What teeth whitening things does everyone recommend? I have lost some enamel on my teeth so I don't want to use anything too abrasive.

BeingMoreDog · 24/08/2013 14:17

I have this hair oil. It smells gorgeous. I wash my hair at night, spray it with this, and tie it in a bun.

I plan to start on the 1st - main aims are regular shredding and low carbing. I kept it up for a week last time and felt great.

BeingMoreDog · 24/08/2013 14:18

private how about greek yoghurt with nuts and seeds?

Marylou2 · 24/08/2013 14:26

I'm in too! Going the take the shrink wrap off my Shred DVD. Think it's still in the amazon box after 6 months.

PrivateBenjamin · 24/08/2013 14:39

beingmoredog that's a good idea (and tasty!) i will get some when i go shopping. I might just do it gently for the next week and then start properly on the 1st.

I have a foot spa tip that i stole off Pintrest . Add half a cup off white vinegar and half a cup of minty mouthwash to a bowl of warm water and soak your feet for 15/20 minutes. It makes your feet so soft and smelling lovely.

I also exfoliate my face with a paste of water and bicarb of soda. Rub it in for about 2 or 3 minutes, then wash off and moisturise. It really makes your skin glow and costs pennies.

bigkidsdidit · 24/08/2013 14:46

I'm in, DS2 is 8 weeks now and I'm getting back to feeling human (I hate pregnancy) and want to sort myself out.

I can't do the shred till I've seen the Physio about mt pelvic floor but ill do Callanetics instead.

I've joined the the carb boot camp too :)

Rummikub · 24/08/2013 15:44

Hi, all. Everyone's very enthusiastic which is great! I read somewhere up thread that the shred is in you tube for free? Is there a link please Flowers?

Also, exfoliating... Can this be done with one of those rough body gloves that are £1 odd in tesco?

Think I will also customise what I prioritise; have a top 5 or 10 that are essential and the rest bonus. I am awful at looking after myself. And as I am just separated then hoping this will boost my confidence.

enormouse · 24/08/2013 15:48

Could anyone post a hand and nails 101, please? All the steps you need to get lovely, manicured hands at home. What is cuticle oil? Why do they need to be shaped/pushed back?

I used work with animals for years and my hands are wrecked and I can't grow long nails at all.

lucysmam · 24/08/2013 15:49

can anyone join in? Could do with re-introducing a bit of vanity Grin

HelgatheHairy · 24/08/2013 15:55

rummikub body exfoliation can be done with those gloves, facial exfoliation definately NOT!!

lucysmam absolutely everyone can join!

Thanks helga. I'm impressed with your energy and motivation! With a newborn,I was barely functioning on a minimum level Envy

I think I have facial scrubs lurking somewhere. I used to buy stuff then never give myself the time to use it. I might inventory everything beauty I have so don't waste money.
