A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

I'm in too!

StiffGandT · 23/08/2013 22:38

So need this.....I'm in

NotAsTired · 23/08/2013 22:53

I'm in. Good timing because I was actually going to start a thread called "grooming for non-groomers" but this is good. Smile

NotAsTired · 23/08/2013 22:57

Helga aren't a lot of the items on the princessing list to do with grooming?

tutu100 · 23/08/2013 23:41

I'm in. Ds2 starts school in September, I don't know whats happened to me over the last 8 years but I am unrecognisable and not in a good way. I will have time for me so want to make lots of changes.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/08/2013 23:44

Me! Feeling fat after my holiday, will be spending December holidays with gorgeous slim and groomed DSS.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 24/08/2013 02:53

Okay I'm in. I kind of started something like this on my own and began it in early July - primal eating, Shred, hair cut, making an effort to be more groomed and healthy and look after myself better - and I'm already doing ten of thr twenty items but I'd love to focus on self-care and improvement with other people!

Does anyone else battle with an inner voice telling them not to be so selfish/vain/frivolous when they thnk about dong something nice for themselves? The kind of opposite of the L'oreal ad - 'because I'm not worth it/ it doesn't matter/what's the point/ there's more important things to worry about' etc.

It's very annoying.

I like the focus on being healthy, nourished, vibrant and confident rather than just prettifyng it up which I always feel a bit uncomfortable about.
YY to queening.
Princessing makes me twitch.

putyourhatonsweetie · 24/08/2013 06:03

I am in, making changes slowly but tis taking time Smile

AuntieStella · 24/08/2013 06:29

Another one who'd go for this: for the the weight/toning/fitness aspects.

But please, a different name for it: I'm another one who cannot bear 'princessing'

catinboots · 24/08/2013 06:41

I'm in.

I was one of the original Princessers.

I'm low carbing at the moment.

Gracie990 · 24/08/2013 06:48

I'm in, i have picked up my game this year and I do look tonnes better. However there is still room for improvement.

I want to get back in touch with an old friend and I would like to look really good for that.

MumbleBag · 24/08/2013 06:58

That list looks brilliant. A bit daunting at first but all very good things to do and I definitely want to give this a go. Count me in and YY to Amazonian Queening!

tartiflette · 24/08/2013 07:16

God yes count me in. Our new house needs so much doing that I feel as though we're almost camping, plus with the DDs off preschool over the summer I've not had much chance to do even the basics.
I've just started 5:2 thingie which im liking (have about a stone to lose) but will investigate paleo - wonder if I could amalgamate the two?

Parsnipcake · 24/08/2013 07:55

I like the 33 wardrobe item thing. I think I only own 2 items that fit the criteria. And they don't match. I know everyone says you shouldn't wear black all the time but I was definitely more stylish when I wore mainly black. I am going to return to black and go shopping.

TheYamiOfYawn · 24/08/2013 08:56

Paleo and 5:2 work well together, although it is not for me. Paleo types call it "intermittent fasting".

They have to fit, look good, be in good condition, you have to like them - it's under 'making space' I think

Isthiscorrect · 24/08/2013 09:53

I'm in for the princessing. Really I need all the help I can get. Just got back from holidays and those photos made me realise I look awful :-( so whilst reading this and the other links in the OP, I have drunk 3 glasses of water. Just off to rummage in cupboards for something to moisturise my hair whilst I rummage and read more. And make the shopping list.

Parsnipcake · 24/08/2013 10:09

Just exfoliated and shaved, then ate bacon sandwich, which dh made - I could hardly refuse it though ;).

Karbea · 24/08/2013 10:21

Just had a decaf coffee and an all butter flapjack. Jumping in shower now, will exfoliate :doingmybit: will be better when I get back from hols!

StiffGandT · 24/08/2013 10:30

I really need to tone up, am slim but flabby! Especially need to work on torso. I don't have time to go to classes so maybe a DVD would be the way to go - can anyone recommend one please?

HelgatheHairy · 24/08/2013 11:10

notastired the way I see it (which may not be the way everyone sees it) is the Princessing items are the "maintenance". The grooming (which there are no guidelines for - yet) are the bits you do over and above. So like getting a great haircut or getting a pedicure so you can do the daily maintenance on your feet afterwards.
And it can incorporate make up and skin care products discussion.

That was my idea anyway.

StiffG&T you need the shred. Very scary & tough but you really get results.

StiffGandT · 24/08/2013 11:21

Thanks Helga, will order it. I'm meeting up with old friends I haven't seen in 10 years in the middle of October.......would love to see results by then - that's my motivation!
