A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

Last night I body brushed for the first time in years, exfoliated and did a face pack (elemis Tri enzyme, I love it) and put on body lotion. Not done this in ages, it used to be routine for me. My skin feels lovely today :)

Ordered the shred DVD last night from Amazon, now need to make my list of grooming products before my shopping trip.

I went to bed with a notebook last night and came up with my own, personally-tailored Amazonian Queening list.

Every Day:

Shred or other intensive exercise
Dance for at least 15 minutes
Eat paleo (with possibly some fasting, but I'm not convinced)
Lemon and warm water each morning
Drink 2 litres of water
Take vitamins, probiotics, and oil supplements
Keep on top of hand, foot and eyebrow grooming
Exfoliate all over
Moisturise all over.
Bed at 10pm, and ABSOLUTELY no later than 11pm

Every Week:

No more than 6 units of alcohol
Face mask
Intensive hair treatment
Intensive hand/foot/nail treatment
Do an interesting cultural thing (eg theatre, cinema, concert, or just read an interesting non-trashy book)
Bed at 9pm one night a week
Iron clothes
Actually go to capoeira class instead of dreaming about going "one day".

One-off/Occasionally

Get colours done
Tooth whitening strips
New hair cut and colour
Organise Project 333 Autumn wardrobe
Get one of those things to shave the bobbly bits off wool.

Brilliant list. I need to sit down and figure out exactly what I'll be doing. An excuse for a new notebook!

Brilliant list!
I've been and done a 'paleo' food shop today and bought myself some nice shampoo and conditioner and did an intensive treatment this morning.

Oh and I bought some lemons for my daily kick start.

All good so far :)

slob can you think of a better reason for a new notebook??? I think lists of what I will do daily, weekly, monthly. What I'm using, what I want to get, tracking changes.

Yami....I think I might pinch your list idea & do one for myself when dp is at work tomorrow. Much easier to remember to do things if I have a tick list going Smile

I am feeling very furry today....bought an epilator yesterday so will be trying that out tomorrow too Smile

I'm sure I have a notebook somewhere. I'm off to make a list and do a stock check of products so I can see what I need to get.

I'm in and (may be sad) have already found a nice new notebook to detail my progress.
I go back to school (I'm a TA) on the 2nd too so it will be perfect. DS2 also turns 23 or 24(I always get muddled with him) on the 15th.
Got a wedding (family who rarely speak to and even less often see) to go to on the 27th and then our holiday on the 27th October.
I put away my scales at the beginning of the school holidays and adopted the eat less, move more principles. Two pairs of school trousers that didn't fit last term now fit so that is good.
Decluttered the wardrobe yesterday (I have boxes and boxes of smaller clothes).

My notebook will be for Amazon Queen journey (I'm too old to be a princess-I shall be -gasp and can't actually believe it can be true- 50 next year.

I was wondering about doing face exercises as part my routine. I am sure I will find something on you tube.

I'm in! I've been thinking about doing something similar and I've started by making and freezing healthy lunches/suppers so they're ready to go when I'm shattered and tempted by takeaway...

Reading through this thread I jumped up and put on Footner exfoliating socks which I bought after a recommendation from Sali Hughes of the Guardian in this article.

It's an article on looking young without surgery but with (some expensive) products, btw.

Does anyone have their eyebrows threaded? There's a stand in our local shopping centre that does it but am always a bit Confused about having it done publicly

Report
TheYamiOfYawn · 25/08/2013 18:16

I get my eyebrows threaded. I love it, but I think it really, really depends on who does it. The threaders in shopping centres are often quite expensive and done by people who aren't that good. Mine works in a fairly shabby looking salon which is target a bit at the local Asian community, has crap customer service, but it costs £4 a go for the best threading I've ever had - pain-free with a beautiful shape.

I had mine threaded at an oriental salon and it was much less painful than waxing. I havent had my eyebrows done in about 5 years (thank you fringe!) but Ineed to make more of an effort to get them done a little more often

INeedSomeHelp · 25/08/2013 18:48

I get mine done at the stand in my local shopping centre. I think they do a really good job and people have commented on my eyebrows! It is a bit weird sitting in the middle of the mall but they get you to put your head right back so you're staring at the ceiling rather than people walking past.

Report
Rummikub · 25/08/2013 19:07

Get mine done in super drug for a fiver. It does depend on who you get. I checked what days she worked and try to go in only then. It's really ouch when it's done badly!

Today I have exfoliated with a body glove and put argon oil in my hair. I diluted the oil in a spare bottle as I found I couldn't wash it out otherwise.

Will trim and file my nails tonight rather than nibbling them.
