A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

No, Lucy, he was lovely Grin

I think I have had 3 personal trainers and they do vary. I liked the last guy best because he knew when I was about to flag on my reps and used to encourage me to push myself. And it was great to have someone make sure I was holding position correctly with squats etc. I used to see so many people in the gym with bad form, going too fast rather than have control.

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 17:33

Grin bigkids I imagine I would do the same! i have visions of being shouted at ..... never had a good relationship.with sporty stuff though. Just the thought of the gym scares the crap out of me!

Rummikub · 29/08/2013 17:46

I was always last at being picked for rounders, netball etc. he wasn't at all shouty. I made sure I didn't eat beans the night before though. I found yoga was more of an issue for farting!

Lucy, if you can afford it I would highly recommend getting one even for a few weeks. My trouble was getting to the gym when I wasn't seeing the trainer, though he did do a routine for me to do at home.

INeedSomeHelp · 29/08/2013 17:52

I've just seen that Superdrug have got an offer on just now. On their own brand products it's buy one get one half price. I can recommend the Naturally Radiant range for anyone looking for reasonably priced skincare

bigkidsdidit · 29/08/2013 18:24

Yes, being serious, he was fantastic. He pushed me - didn't shout, but encouraged me on. I was SO fit. Thrn I got pregnant with DS1, then had a laparotomy, then got pregnant with DS2. It's a long road back to fitness!

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 18:38

hmmmm...I might look into it then. There's a fitness first (I think it's changed name actually) right across from dd2's nursery. It's a scary thought but would probably do me some good tbh.

Just about to take off make up, shower with both girls and moisturise/do hair for the morning. Have more time to myself tonight so will epilate the rest of my legs in front of the box (not that there will be much on)

JemimaMuddledUp · 29/08/2013 19:01

Have been to Superdrug today as they had some good offers on and stocked up ready for Sep 1st. I bought some more Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser, day cream, night cream and eye cream as the ones I have are running low (have lasted almost 6 months though which is very good value). I also bought two Maybelline nail varnishes for £5, a deep burgundy (almost rouge noir colour) for my toes and a nude latte colour for my fingers. I also bought some new shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser and shower gel, nothing posh but I always feel more inclined to stick with a regime if I have shiny new stuff.

I am now going to order my Tesco delivery, making sure it is nice and full of healthy food like fruit and veg and fish and not chocolate hobnobs Grin

pipsqueakz · 29/08/2013 19:02

Well I've dyed the mop this morning and went shopping for healthy food! New day new start?

HelgatheHairy · 29/08/2013 19:50

Well I've showered etc. also micro pedi my feet and put on Flexitol.

OP posts:
Karbea · 29/08/2013 20:21

What's flexitol?

I'm having a Big Mac for my dinner ;)

Goinggreytoosoon · 29/08/2013 20:48

Made a start tonight toenails have been painted deep red. I have defuzzed exfoliated used superdrugs hot cloth cleanser brightenings face scrub and face mask all part of the natural radience range ( i think i can see a difference) list has been made. Ive creamed my hands. Nails eyebrows and hair will be sorted as soon as i can get an appointment. Bough multi vitamins and i have 4 big bottles of water in the fridge. I do feel abit better im looking forward to seeing the results. Cant wait for school to start as i walk about 4miles a day doing the school runs.

JemimaMuddledUp · 29/08/2013 21:52

I decided to crack open the new nail varnishes - this for my fingers and this for my toes. I love them both. It is starting to feel autumnal now so my sparkly blue toenails were feeling a bit summery. Although it took about half an hour to take them off, I don't know what they put in the new No7 sparkly nail varnishes but you practically need a blow torch to get them off!

TheYamiOfYawn · 29/08/2013 22:21

I've just rinsed off the Footner stuff. Now I have to wait to find out how disgusting the skin-shedding phase is.

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 23:03

What's footner? &what do it do?

jemima I ? the one for your toes. I ought to swap my bright orange for something more autumnal really.

I haven't straightened my hair tonight, am going to try out an up-do tomorrow morning & if that doesn't work out I'll straighten it out.

Hopefully my glue will get here for my ghd's tomorrow or Saturday & I can get them going again.

What are we doing come Sept? Carrying on as we have been with check-in type posts or ......? Smile

Cocochops · 29/08/2013 23:42

Have been pretty good so far with skin hair nails etc although finding it is taking me longer to get ready for bed at night!

Have also made sure I have make up on everyday. This can be hard with 2 young dc and before this thread would have gone out without it but am now trying to liken it to brushing my teeth I.e wouldn't leave house without doing that!

Exercise hasn't started yet. Am doing a fair amount of walking with pram but finding it hard to get the time. Ds wakes lots at night so too tired to go first thing and then by the time dh is home and kids finally asleep all I want to do is have dinner and watch some tv.

Today slipped on the drinking wagon not enough water and a midweek beer -oops was lovely though!

NumTumDeDum · 29/08/2013 23:46

Ha, only just found this thread. Original Frump reporting for duty. I've not been doing that well, I've had a run in with a hairdresser and come off worst and I'm getting married in 8 days, I still feel I look awful and I turn 35 tomorrow. But, I can now do press ups courtesy of the shred.

lucysmam · 29/08/2013 23:46

Tbf coco to me walking with the pram counts as exercise....especially with shopping on....they get bloody heavy (especially if they have squiffy, knackered wheels like ours)!

Have just had a Brew before bed, only my third of the day Shock and I managed 2l of water. Obviously need that more than the Brew as I could do with another glass before bed.

Haribojoe · 30/08/2013 00:00

Taking full advantage of a few child free days.

Have been shopping today and have everything necessary to commence operation princess/get groomed.

Shred DVD had also arrived.

Planning to start tomorrow with shred, full grooming routine, water etc.

Going on a girls weekend away in 3 weeks time so am hoping will have started to see results by then Smile

INeedSomeHelp · 30/08/2013 04:28

TheYamiOfYawn - I am interested to hear how the Footner stuff works. I have read loads of reviews of it and am tempted to try it from a slightly disgusted yet fascinated point of view!

Karbea · 30/08/2013 07:32

Omg! Just read a review of that footner thing! Yuck!

I'm not really on the programme yet, had Big Mac for dinner last night and bunked off my pt this morning. Oh well, starting on the first.

What are you all using notepads for?

JemimaPuddle · 30/08/2013 07:33

Failed a little yesterday and drunk wine & take away curry.
It will count as my weekend though as I'm working tonight & Saturday night. Slightly redeemed myself as did face mask last night and cleanse, tone, moisturise although it'd have to be something very serious for me not to do it!

Running at 8.30 & taking the DCs swimming after lunch.

Goinggreytoosoon · 30/08/2013 07:55

karbea im using a notebook just to keep track of the list i made.

Im not fully on the programme yet but will be come 1st september.

Going to make hair appointment today for when the dcs go back next week.

Paintyourbox · 30/08/2013 08:37

Happy birthday NumTumDeDum have a day of wild partying and total excess then start your list tomorrow heehee.

I have let myself go a bit lately, been working lots of hours and having bedtime wars with DD at night. By the time I get her settled and eat dinner I just want to slump on my sofa and do nothing.

Here's my list:

  1. Take fish oils and vitamins daily.
  2. Apply foot cream daily, use foot file weekly.
  3. Early night twice per week.
  4. Weekly nail filing and clear polish.
  5. Be strict with high protein diet. Have lost 3kg so far but then started cheating.
  6. Daily 30 Day Shred and as much other exercise as possible
  7. Daily body lotion application.
  8. Clear out my wardrobe!
  9. Exfoliate weekly.
10. No chocolate and give up drinking alcohol mid week. 11. Start practicing my fake tan technique.

We are going to a posh wedding at the end of October and I really want to look good for then. DPs ex is going to be there and I am still losing my baby weight (DD is 14 months lol!). Want to shock everyone with my newly glam appearance!

lucysmam · 30/08/2013 08:55

Morning all Smile

??????happy???birthday????????NumTum????????

?? birthday bunting Grin

Just finishing Brew then switching to water for the day. Off to softplay shortly with my dd's so may have coffee and will probably share pizza with them for lunch.

Looking forward to weekend Wine (trying out toffee apple cider tonight)...three bottles for a fiver so one for each weekend night.

When dp shifts out of the bathroom I'll be off to cleanse/tone/moisturise etc. Will do proper make up too since we're leaving the house. Might even treat myself to some new on the way back through town.

Does anyone have any miracle cures for large pores and odd spots? And, does whitening toothpaste count for teeth whitening....am a bit wussy to try anything else even though I do love a good mooch in Boots to see what's about

Snapespeare · 30/08/2013 08:55
