HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Afraid I have lots of make up Blush. Always think the next purchase will be the perfect lippy... Quite a lot of wrong colours lurking around.
Maybe a naked palette for my Christmas list!

Where do you folk get your spring skinny jeans from? My next lift and slim or whatever ones seemed great but now I spend all the time hoiking them up (not lost weight!!).
Mumelie and birdie you sound well dressed today... I'm in a work blouse and trouser combo with my 'orangey coral' hoc lippy...

Mumelie · 23/10/2013 20:55

Fooogle - I love super soft skinnies from New Look. loads of different colours and great price (although I have to go up a size). I have had similar problems with Next jeans growing as you wear them.

Joycey29 · 23/10/2013 21:55

Boden skinny coral jeans - do Ido it???

Joycey29 · 23/10/2013 21:59

Thanks beginner, felt fab in my outfit, aided by lippy and scarf!
Boots now have hole in sole (so poetic) so on the hunt- love Celtic & Co tan showboats and pikolinos grey cowboy!
Totally love Ugg Dandelion's but cannot justify £160Shock

BirdyBedtime · 24/10/2013 09:06

My make-up bag is pretty barren compared to you all, although in my defence I have very high colouring so blusher definitely not required. I have 3 HoC lipsticks plus another 2 and that's it, although I'm being tempted by all the good reports of Runway Coral. I don't tend to wear eye makeup unless on a night out, as I have lots of eye problems so not keen to accentuate my eyes in any way Sad.

I got some great super skinny cords from Gap about a month ago in a tan colour which are a good fit for me (size 12 with a big bum but slim waist). I think they also had some brighter colours online. My grey skinnies came from M&S a couple of years ago, but when I tried on a pair last year in the same size the fit was awful.

In boring work outfit today but with green per una M&S blouse and yellow cardi. Have my coral spotty scarf too.

BirdyBedtime · 24/10/2013 09:07

Joycey - I'd go for it. You can always return them if you decide they're too much.

Fooogle · 24/10/2013 13:27

So birdy what hoc colour lipsticks do you have? so I can add to my ridiculous collection...just to know!
I'm in skinny (but saggy!) next dark indigo jeans and a warm grey tshirt top today. Did have gap coral/flouro sweater on but surprisingly warm. Sounds better in words!

Mumelie · 24/10/2013 15:04

Hi everyone
Back to work/school etc today and making an effort! Lippie (HoC coral) on and scarf when outside Grin as was chilly first thing.
Today I'm wearing this dress which was my birthday present to myself last month. Its a very fine knit but layered up is great. Wearing with black tights and black chelsea boots.
Joycey let me know the fit on the Boden jeans if you order them. I've been tempted but never sure if they'll be any good as i usually have to size up in Boden for my waist then the rest of its huge. Go for the boots too Grin.

Joycey29 · 24/10/2013 20:06

Oops bought the grey boots...... Oh and a pair of Merell winter boots!
So pleased with both!
Loved the Uggs but as suede and fluffy completely impractical!
Grin

Fooogle · 24/10/2013 22:08

V exciting joycey. Can you link the grey ones? I'm still on a boot hunt...

BirdyBedtime · 25/10/2013 10:28

Foogle - I have 1 (red) 347 (reddy pink) and 64 (more neutral). They are basically the ones bought at my consultation (although not the actual same ones Grin). I like them all so have never ventured into anything else - and TBH when i go into the shops I just get scared by the number of colours out there!!

Joycey - yes, can you link to the boots please.

Today I'm in my (non-springy) mauvey-grey trousers, caramel jumper and turqouise necklace - plus red lippy of course! This thread has made me realise I need some new work bottoms that are more spring-like as most of mine pre-date my consultation (which was almost 7 years ago!)

Gillybobs · 25/10/2013 11:26

Hi LAdies

Navy shift dress, grey cardi and navy shoe boots for work today. Missing my splash of colour...hmm.

Wanted to show you my new navy ankle boots, I find navy footwear hard to come by at times but these are smart enough for work or smart/casual I thought and being Insolia they are very comfy. Bonus!

Joycey29 · 25/10/2013 20:42

Evening all!
Loving the boots! They are here- www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/womens-c1/boots-c3/pikolinos-brujas-ii-womens-ankle-boots-p16936?attribute[1]=1087

Had loads of comments today but too skint to get coral jeans:(

Joycey29 · 25/10/2013 20:45

That took too much effort!!

BirdyBedtime · 25/10/2013 20:47

Ooh they are nice Joycey and I particularly like the heel. But quite pricey (although I know most boots are these days). Hmm might see if they go in the sale.

BirdyBedtime · 25/10/2013 20:48

I know what you mean - I cant't link at all when on the tablet.

Joycey29 · 25/10/2013 21:16

Pricey indeed - hence no jeans but decided to go for it as the boots they are replacing lasted 5 years and I wear them most days in the winter.

Fooogle · 25/10/2013 22:18

Oo like those birdy. Had some pikolinos once before and loved them but somehow lost them!
Not sure i can justify non discounted ones just now only as I've bought too many random 'bargain' shoes/boots instead of investing in a really good pair!

Thanks for the lippy list. Def want to have a rerate so can try out colours. Dearly want an everyday easy to wear reddy colour?? A la retro kind if thing though look. Like a scruff often so not sure it's advisable!

Joycey29 · 27/10/2013 08:28

Eeeek - this thread is dying!

Mumelie · 27/10/2013 10:50

A quick message to bump this thread up!
I'm on a returning mission today of things bought in the last month and not worn. Tried it all on this morning and asked opinion of DD and DH (looking like Shirley Carter was not one I expected - so that pleather mini skirt is going back). Think I was having a mini mid life crisis when I bought that one!

Today I'm wearing a purple and navy print knee skirt, grey slash neck jumper (very old and needs replacing), black tights and charcoal knee boots.

Anyone got any nice stormwear in spring colours? Wink

Gillybobs · 27/10/2013 12:24

I picked up a rain jacket for dog walking in TK Maxx, it's our warm bright pink. TK Maxx is so hit or miss though so that's not very helpful!

I've decided that now the clocks have gone back I can get my Christmassy knitwear out. Cream jumper with rows of gold sequins on today. Yes, I am tragic but happy

Did anyone see my navy ankle boot link above. Sad

Fooogle · 27/10/2013 13:07

Yes liked those boots gilly but immediately realised they're not for me as I walk like a heffalump! Need more substantial heel... Eyeing up some in clarks sale...
www.clarks.co.uk/p/20352724 though suede... They've got navy too. They may be hideous. I'm thinking for work...

Today I'm mostly wearing blue liberty floral shirt, skinnies, teal uniqlo cardi...massive khaki coloured raincoat! Impractical navy converse boots... Need spring wellies!
