HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Nooooo!! I have the best job ever Grin

No, Fooogle, don't want to ebay my coat, it's my comfort blanket, was my birthday present last winter from DH & cost him an arm & a leg, so will wear it with Spring scarves Smile

Fooogle · 07/10/2013 11:54

Oh good, scarf it up Smile. I am just a bit obsessed with ebaying things though takes me ages to get round to it

What's everyone else wearing today?

alemci · 07/10/2013 12:01

not feeling too well. :(

french navy linen top with per una mixed coloured cardigan and jeans.

Fooogle · 07/10/2013 12:34

Hope you feel better Alemci. Brew

alemci · 07/10/2013 12:40

thanks Foogle

just dug out my wallet and my CMB relates to Spring flowing into Summer or light.

I think if you were into Autumn warm and Winter bright.

they have definitely changed their analysis terms, had a look on their website last night.

alemci · 07/10/2013 13:01

Aqualeven

Someone is selling that lipstick on ebay standing at £11. always worth looking on there.

Aquelven · 07/10/2013 13:25

Shock it's £5 something on the Superdrug site !

Hope you soon feel better, Alemci.

Aquelven · 07/10/2013 13:35

Fooogle I posted this on another thread too..

Don't you have to be able to have a special room in your house to give over to be your studio for when clients come? The consultant I saw did & the whole house was amazingly tidy, & spotlessly decorated, more like a show house than a family home.
No sign of children, pets or even other family members or their stuff, even though she had a husband & teenage sons.

BirdyBedtime · 07/10/2013 14:31

I'm in blue-grey work trousers (not really spring but like many of my work suits just too expensive to replace until ready to throw out), red, cream and ecru patterned top and red cardi (new buy from Monsoon in the summer to replace my very worn old red cardi which was also Monsoon - great investment buy).

Got some good quality charcoal tights from John Lewis this lunchtime - quite expensive for tights (£7.50) but 60 denier so hopefully no laddering. If DS comes anywhere near me with his supervelcro trainers he's for the high jump!

Fooogle · 07/10/2013 15:16

Aquelven thinking Alemci was meaning the pink champagne one you were after that had been discontinued?

Yes, I expect having an immaculate house would be needed. I'd prob have to hire somewhere if I did it or move as I have no such thing!

alemci · 07/10/2013 15:29

yes I meant the exact estee laudee one was on ebay - estee lauder pink champagne. put it in ebay searchSmile

BeginnerSAHM · 07/10/2013 15:44

I'm wearing old leopard print cardigan (banana republic) which is cream with browny/grey splodges on, 'foundation' colour layering long sleeve t poking out (mint velvet), indigo whistles skinny jeans, taupe ballet shoes with some feathers and a few diamanté bits (sound awful but honestly not that bling Wink). Err, and no bright spring colour. I'm terrible at this!!

Aquelven · 07/10/2013 16:43

Sorry, thought you meant the Revlon!

I've had a rummage through my drawers ooh matron & blinged up today's boring grey outfit with a chunky silver & lapis lazuli necklace. Thank heavens us Blues can wear silver as well as gold Grin

BeginnerSAHM · 07/10/2013 16:46

Ooh, sounds lovely Aquelven! I think I need some (cheap but expensive looking) jewellery to help springify my 'look'!

OP posts:
Fooogle · 07/10/2013 19:49

Yep I was thinking the same today Beginner but not sure where to look. Mostly stuck with online or charity shop rummaging as 'proper shopping' not possible with my littles...
Have loads of necklaces I made when first diagnosed but they look a bit unfashionable at mo'; lots of semiprecious stone affairs... Think I need bigger 'statement' necklaces Confused !

Joycey29 · 07/10/2013 22:28

Tuesday tomorrow! Scarves and lippy at the ready!

shopalot · 07/10/2013 22:58

Thanks for your answers-didn't get a look in on the ipad over the weekend!!!!! I wear lots of black- for work I always wear black but I do try wear a bright lipstick. When people see me outside of work in other colours they are always saying how well I look-so black is clearly not great on me :)

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 08/10/2013 06:59

Sorry having popped in to ask Hopefully that question in black I didn't come back.

Thanks Hopefully.. what you said on black makes good sense. I am a blue but black does rather drain me, as does white .. and grey is shocking also actually. I do migrate to navy and brown..after all I cannot go to work in entirety bright colours..but tend to scarf it up.

And hello everyone else.

I'm not sure

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 08/10/2013 07:00

Argh. I meant to say that I am not sure what I will wear today. Tis too early.

Joycey29 · 08/10/2013 07:20

Ifuourehappy- don't mind what you wear but it's Tuesday so scarf and lippy are a must!!

BeginnerSAHM · 08/10/2013 07:44

You're funny Joycey! Can I try scarf OR lippy? Wink I'm really struggling with the splash of bright! It doesn't seem very 'me'. I can handle red lippy for a night out though, so definite progress. Coral lip glosses getting recycled! Never wear those and feel silly in them.

OP posts:
BirdyBedtime · 08/10/2013 08:39

Morning all. It's actually too warm here today for a scarf (something I never thought I'd hear myself say in mid-October) so I've got on a bright (turquoise) necklace instead. Wearing my red lippy too.

I'm in my dark mauve (again very unspringy) trousers, cream vest top and yellow knit cardi (another Monsoon replacement this summer!).

I've also bought myself a red Cath Kidston lanyard for my work pass so always have a splash of red too!

Persevere with the lippy Beginner - I felt like that too but now after several years of pretty much wearing bright lippy most days (and more muted colours if not) it's second nature and I think I look washed out without it.

Aquelven · 08/10/2013 09:37

Good morning Smile
Today I'm wearing light grey jeans, purple lambs wool V neck, chunky silver necklace, still in my slippers as waiting in for a delivery of sacks of dog food. Sorry, Joycey, no scarf yet & not a very bright lipstick. I'm wearing an easier warm corally pink, No7 Waterlily.

BeginnerSAHM · 08/10/2013 11:25

Right! Am wearing indigo jeans and taupe ballet shoes again (with sparkly bits and a few feathers Confused), navy whistles jumper with lace shoulders (whistles last year), cream scarf with navy horses on, tortoiseshell sunglasses AND Revlon 'just bitten kissable' balm stain in 'romantic' (warm red I think...). Springy? Bit wintery too I suppose but have warm red lippy on. And it's all 'clear' Wink.
