HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Morning all. Working again today so in Navy wide leg trews, and a boat neck Breton which has navy, cream, poppy red, honey and a bright pink stripe. Cream and gold statement necklace. Tan suede wedges from Next on my feet (soooo comfy)

Ive ordered some grey suede (ish) pull on boots from M&S for work..you know the K Middy type boots? Thought they might be good with dresses and skirts in winter. Grey is hard to find ..

Yes joycey it is the swing coat. I can't work out how to paste link on tablet but it does look like the right shade. Fingers crossed.

Your top sounds great Gillybobs. I'm off today so in grey skinnies (grey features a lot in my bottom half too as I really struggle with brights below the waist), red and cream stripy cowl neck tunic and bright green gilet when i went out. Feet are red converse. Today is very autumnal here Sad.

I'm another weird spring in that navy is not great for me but i do wear it on the bottom as a change from grey!

Aquelven · 29/08/2013 10:20

Oh, I really like those boots, Gilly.

You are so getting into the swing of this, Beginner, even sleeping in the coloursGrin
Glad you found I can wear black as am rocking the same ancient black pull on trousers today(not a lot of choice re rugby boot) with navy top & turquoise hoody, accessorised by same tan slipper, grey crutches. No jewellery as yet.

I really can't get my head round brights on the bottom half either.....does my bum look big in.... Confused

Joycey29 · 30/08/2013 20:25

Have done it! Went lipstick hunting today with friend! Giggled senseless at coral colours, bargain bin jokes galore!
Then tried a few - CMB was right - I look fab in Cliniques -Brandy something!
So pleased with it! GrinGrinGrinGrin

Gillybobs · 30/08/2013 22:35

Golden brandy it will be. A great daytime lippy, not too bright at all. Possibly a spring/autumn crossover

alemci · 30/08/2013 22:39

I like pink godess buttershine by clinique

Gillybobs · 31/08/2013 09:05

My grey boots have arrived. Have also ordered a grey jersey tube skirt and grey snake print wrap skirt for work. A lot of grey I know but I will wear bright tops for that bit of colour with them. Will report back once I've given them a try.

Particularly like the first skirt Gilly. Both will look great with the grey boots and a colourful top.

I did a quick google on the pink goddess lipstick and somebody has said it matches the nars orgasm blusher (which is the one I wear) so might have to try that! So, that's at least 2 lipsticks on my 'probably will buy' list. (Pink goddess and the mac see sheer...)

Loving the new lippy! Can't believe the difference it makes!!

wools · 01/09/2013 08:11

I love those boots Gillybobs. I fancy a long pair of boots this autumn as an alternative to ankle boots. I tend to wear mainly jeans in the autumn/winter so not sure how much wear I would get from them.

Gillybobs · 01/09/2013 08:58

I've bought those ones for work as I wear dresses and skirts for office wear. For casual I have ankle boots and some fab knee high chunky heel choc suede boots from Hush Puppies of all places. Could walk miles in them

cardoon · 01/09/2013 12:25

I wore this and estee lauder coral fantasy lipstick (great match) at a party last night - felt great! Grin

BeginnerSAHM · 01/09/2013 14:37

Can't get the link on my phone cardoon but glad you felt great in the 'right' colours!!Grin

Yes that is a lovely dress - amazing colour. I bet you looked fab,

Mumelie · 01/09/2013 19:06

That is a great dress cardoon.

Can anyone recommend a bright red lipstick for a blue Sping? I'd like longlasting and matt (not glossy). I like the HOC lipsticks but my red one (No 1 - cant find it on the website) wont match my dress for a party (which is proper bright poppy red).
Thanks Smile

Aquelven · 01/09/2013 19:15

Hi Mumelie I'm a blue spring too Smile
The HoC red was 606 which is still on the website. I haven't had chance to find one in the shops yet.

Mumelie · 01/09/2013 19:30

Thanks Aquelven - my HOC lipstick has the No 1 on the bottom - which I cant see on the website but think is Geranium (brighter than the 606 Geranium Red) from this article.

BirdyBedtime · 01/09/2013 19:32

Hi all. Just to say my coat arrived yesterday and is brilliant - just the right colour and shape. Was in Next on Friday and bought some plain tops (caramel and grey) which are going to be good for layering in winter. I really wanted a patterned blouse bit couldn?t find anything I liked.

alemci · 01/09/2013 20:04

still confused, went to cmb years ago and was a spring flowing into summer, how does equate with the updated concepts or hoc. am fair skinned, hair light brown naturally eyes blue.

any links please

Gillybobs · 01/09/2013 20:17

Would that be a light spring?
