So, I'm tweeting about bras with M&S. Who wants to tell me which stores have given incorrect measurements?

They have asked which store fitted incorrectly. Apparently they've invested a lot into their Bra fitting and would like to know which stores have incorrectly measured / fitted.

Shall we give them a list?!

I really do hope that M&S sees this and realise they (their whole approach) is wrong, and not try to pass the buck by blaming employees. Yes, some have been incredibly rude, and whilst that can never be excused, it might be because of a decade of shoppers telling them they're wrong. It's still not right of course, but probably human to become defensive. Especially if your bosses insist what you're doing is right and you have to stick to that method.

Good work Six!

< gin tea, cake and sympathy > for the M&S fitters. We do know it's not their fault!

Reported hfd, who can surely not blame M&S for misunderstanding his/her requirements. Wink

Just wanted to add that the problem is not about measuring with a tape measure or by sight. All the bra interventions are done on MN are done by tape measure. Measuring by sight is only good if you recognise that a woman who wears size 12 clothes cannot need a 36 inch bra however big her boobs are.

According to their chart, I'm a 40E. I was measured by a Rigby and Peller trained bra fitter in JL and she put me in a 36C. This size is great with a very full cup and non padded or underwired bra, but when wearing a wired balconette bra, I wear a 36D which seems perfect.
I can't wear a plunge bra (despite having smallish shoulders Hmm) because I end up with four boobs! I always used to be able to wear them, but was much younger and slimmer then.

Cribbs Causeway Bristol and before that existed Broadmead, Bristol.

Measured as 36C. I'm a 32E.

Another one for M & S Oxford. Put DD1 in a 36A. Bravissimo put her in a 32F.

Oh and Reading. Told me I was a 42B. I am wearing a 38F, fitted by R & P.

Went into M & S to look for bras for DD1 earlier this week, all they had in her (correct) size was beige, white or black, either T shirt bras with padded/moulded cups or old lady lace. Debenhams selection much better.

La Senza now only go up to a D or DD cup - they used to go up to GG. Lovely bright colours. I told them they were missing a trick. Nice lady rolled her eyes and said "I know, but the new owners are American and probably men, and won't listen."

Another one for Birmingham City Centre.
I now know it was wrong in the back size, but even then I knew it was wrong in the cup size as they were really baggy Confused was fobbed off about that though.

Coventry City Centre.

I was fitted in Bravissimo as 36GG and went to M & S subsequently, hoping to find a prettier style. They fitted me in the same size, but I cannot wear their bras at all because they rub my shoulders raw within a day.

Grimsby and Lincoln measured me as wildly different sizes, neither of which were correct or even close to it.

My bad experience was years ago in High Wycombe, was told I was a 36B when I was a 32E. Bra fitter got very huffy and insisted she was right (which seems to be the attitude of M&S at the top level as well) even though it was very clear the bra did not fit. Since then I've been getting fitted at Bravissimo because they know what they are doing.

ooh, I've been looking for a bra thread! Following the bra guru's posts on here, I took them at their word and measured myself...

M&S bluewater measure me as a 38B.

Bra guru guidelines make me a 34E. And it's right - went and tried on a load of bras in M&S and I couldn't believe it. A 34E gives me boobs and a far trimmer waist/back. Grin

Basically, I concluded that I have had unsupported boobs my whole life. I could hear women in other cubicles being measured professionally and I knew they were wrong -I even heard the now legendary "so we add on 4 inches to that measurement." Bollocks you do!

Leicester told me I was a 34B. I'm a 28E/30DD.

Asked if they stocked any 28s in Leicester Fosse Park to be told "only children are a 28, you can't possibly need that size".

runningforthebusinheels · 18/07/2013 19:55

Of course the problem is I could only find a handful of bras in M&S in a 34E - and I bought them all!

M&S need to change their ways.

I'm a 34f. M&s would have me believe I'm a 40c.

Thanks to a brilliant independent shop I'm now wearing fabulous bras that fit.

I will only ever go to an independent shop again for bra fitting.

And sorry m&s but the poor bra sizing also applies to your swimwear which never ever fits properly on the bust.
