So, I'm tweeting about bras with M&S. Who wants to tell me which stores have given incorrect measurements?

They have asked which store fitted incorrectly. Apparently they've invested a lot into their Bra fitting and would like to know which stores have incorrectly measured / fitted.

Shall we give them a list?!

York. When I was pregnant they measured me as a 36dd - I was a 30d. She said I'd grow into it. I thought she was talking rubbish so went to an amazing independent shop Kathryn rolfe who measured me as a 32d!! I never reached 36dd even when my milk came in!!! So rubbish at m and s!!

SneakyHateSpiral · 19/07/2013 12:18

Colchester.

Now I travel to Braintree, where there is an excellent shop in the designer outlet place who can fit you just by looking at you. I've been going there instead of my very local M&S for five years now.

CalamityKate · 19/07/2013 12:36

Colchester.

sneakyhatespiral I went in that shop the other day :)

It's gossard. I didn't get fitted but I overheard someone else getting fitted and my heart leapt when I heard the words "The middle bit should be flat" Grin

I measured myself at 34FF and Gossard 34FFs fit perfectly.

MotherofDragons82 · 19/07/2013 12:44

Sheffield Fargate, most recently.
Appalling service.
I was wearing a 32FF which was too big on the back - yet she tried to fit me in a 36DD.

I'm actually a 30FF.

AmazingDisgrace · 19/07/2013 12:57

Kingston upon Thames Fitted me as a 38C when I'm a 32FF they also fitted DD as a 34C when she's a 30DD

Furball · 19/07/2013 13:31

I wonder if they are so confident with their measuring, if they'd be willing for a measure off - one model, an M & S fitter and an MN fitter

If with the actually evidence infront of them and seeing how the (probably) completely different sizing was on the model they might just realise?

JollyHolidayGiant · 19/07/2013 13:49

Wearesix
The thing is that they do seem to be fitting consistently, in the main. They are just adding 4 inches. Which is the reason boobs are falling out of the bands.

NotAQueef · 19/07/2013 14:06

ooh loving the idea of a measure off furball
I keep thinking there should be an item on This Morning about it - perhaps we could send them a link to this thread/all the intervention threads
sorrell/Statisticallymarred* etc you up for a turn on ITV?

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2013 14:45

That's such wanky corporate speak from M&S.

You are doing a rubbish job and should be ashamed of yourselves.

No wonder I had chronic backaches for 10 years, I was in a bra two band sizes too big.

anothernamechangerreally · 19/07/2013 14:47

Worthing measured me as 38b. I just bought a 32G! Fits amazingly! Grin

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 19/07/2013 15:45

Andover

Edinburgh

I've been measured as a 34-36 B-C

I'm actually a 30 DD.

TatiaCamilla · 19/07/2013 16:17

Great Yarmouth and Norwich both measure me as 38A whether breastfeeding nor not. I'm 34D when feeding past the first few mad months of daily size changes (Bravado Bodysilk deals with those), and 34B otherwise (I do have a fairly broad back for a size 12). I fall straight out of the bottom of a 38 band.

As long as I fend off the fitters, I actually like their bras, they're comfortable, affordable and last fairly well for me. It's the fitters that are the problem.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 19/07/2013 20:31

I tried to stage an intervention on DM today, didn't go well. She's wearing an M & S 40C. I reckon she's a 36G or H.

She told me to bog off Grin M & S bras are comfy and she likes them and obviously having boobs round her waist

GinOnTwoWheels · 19/07/2013 20:50

M+S, if you're out there:

  1. Its commonly stated that '80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size'. As one of the county's largest bra suppliers, it looks like you need to take some responsibility for that.
  1. You can see from the many many threads on Mumsnet, what actual sizes normal average women are. How about your stocks matching this?

The back size range goes from 26 to 40+ and cupsize from A to J or more, but your sizes seem to be more like 30+ and AA to G? You are missing out a large % of core customers by ignoring the 26/28s (and frankley the 30s are faced with very limited ranges).

RibenaFiend · 19/07/2013 21:00

M&S Watford are totally lacking in any skill and ability. I went in out of interest and they told me my fabulous 34G were in fact 38C
OH MY GOD IT WAS HORRENDOUS I tried on a TShirt over my "newly fitted" bra and it was vile.

Never again.

Octopus37 · 19/07/2013 21:03

I currently wear a 30C(fitted by Debenhams a while ago), went to M and S to get fitted as I have lost a bit of weight, I told the fitter that I might be a 28 back, measurements are 27 under bust, 31/32 over bust, think this might make me a 28C or D. She measured me as a 32, said she could pull me into a 30, but that my cup size would be A or B if I am a 30. Confused, have recently bought some 32B's just for ease, tried on a 28DD and have to say it was much too tight round the back. Thin 30C might be my best size afterall, but would be interested to try a 28C or D.

TrixyPixie · 19/07/2013 21:04

South Wimbledon Merton and Kingston upon Thames, suggested 38b when I was 34d. Shock

DrHarleenQuinzel · 19/07/2013 21:23

Kings Lynn, Norfolk - the lady insisted I was a 36C when I am actually a 34HH when fitted by Bravissimo later on, can't imagine I'd have been able to get into a 36C! The lady fitting me look quite suprised when she asked me what size I'd worn previously (I was wearing a 34G before I got measured)

timidviper · 19/07/2013 21:29

I took my DD for her first ever bra to M&S in Preston, she has a large ribcage and was still in that puppy fat stage so very self-conscious. The woman measured her under bust, added some inches and told her she needed a 40" bra. She then measured over her small teenage breasts and was totally confused by getting a number smaller than 40 so thinking she needed a negative cup size. DD was so embarrassed we left with her in tears. Luckily Debenhams were better, reassured her that this had happened to others and helped find her a nice bra.

Some years later I went into M&S in Blackpool to give them another chance. I am plus size, I know I will not be able to fit into every style but the woman was so rude. She told me I needed a 46C and they do not make bras in "those sort of sizes", I was mortified. I complained to a supervisor who told me not to worry, that woman is often rude!
A couple of weeks later I went to the Gemini, Warrington store and wandered into the lingerie department to see if a bigger store had any larger sizes. A very pleasant assistant offered help and I asked about bigger sizes, she instantly said I did not need a bigger size and, from experience, she always suggested going down a back size and up a cup from the M&S recommendation then going on the fit. She picked out a bra for me to try, it was a 40E and it fitted beautifully.
