So, I'm tweeting about bras with M&S. Who wants to tell me which stores have given incorrect measurements?

They have asked which store fitted incorrectly. Apparently they've invested a lot into their Bra fitting and would like to know which stores have incorrectly measured / fitted.

Shall we give them a list?!

They measure underbust and add 4 inches to get your band size. They then measure overbust and use the difference between that and your 'band size' to work out your cup size.

I'm trying to stage an intervention with my Mum at the mo. she reckons she's a 40B according to M&S.

Bollocks, say I. I reckon more like a 36G. Given I'm a 34FF and she's about a size bigger than me that sounds about right.

She won't be told though...bloody Chesterfield M&S to blame here.

kasbah72 · 19/07/2013 22:12

Westfield Stratford, Marble Arch, Enfield, Birmingham and Brighton... to name a few!

Dundrum

Chelmsford

Exeter guildhall, shocking misinformation and two of the biggest bras I've ever seen. It had been a long, arduous journey to arrive at the point of going for a fitting, I was so dubious about the whole process but it was the fifth shop in one day. the assistant wouldn't hear my concerns and I was too weak to fight back. I was left with two huge ugly bras that I couldn't return because my dh tidied up does destroyed the tags.
I contacted m&s to make a plea and they never responded to my email.
I was fraught with pnd/anxiety at the time and never pursued it. A year later I still don't know my bra size.

RubyGoat · 19/07/2013 23:42

Keighley. Fitted me as a 38A (FFS) I'm now happily wearing a 34D, needless to say I didn't get it from M&S.

CelticPromise · 19/07/2013 23:53

Celestial post your measurements on one of the other threads, we'll help Smile

celestialbows · 20/07/2013 00:02

Thanks celtic I'll try and get around to it. I also have scoliosis which affects s how lots of things fit plus heavily depleted breasts after two huge-boobed pregnancies and breastfeeding escapades! I've kinda given up and just wear crapppy bandeau bras or support vests which don't support.

emblosion · 20/07/2013 00:03

Belfast city centre

CelticPromise · 20/07/2013 00:09

Celestial you might need marriednotdead, a poster on the bra threads who knows All The Bras and is able to advise on fit for all shapes. The right size will be a good start though :-)

extracrunchy · 20/07/2013 00:45

Richmond, west London

Birmingham city centre would have me in a 34 b I am in fact a 30f.

HarumScarum · 20/07/2013 18:02

Those of you who are saying Richmond, how long ago was this? Because I was fitted as a 34AA there around ten years ago (am a 28E or 30DD depending on fit) but I was pleasantly surprised when I went in there recently and the woman recommended 30D or DD and was apologetic that there was nothing in a 28E. A blonde lady. So things have improved there, if nowhere else.

MissStrawberry · 20/07/2013 18:11

I have just remembered something else though can't remember the exact sizes.

I was measured, bras brought didn't fit was told that a 34D is the same as 36C or something along those lines. The fact that the cup size didn't fit was fine as the band size could be lower/bigger to allow for it.

I know what I mean but suspect I haven't explained it very well.

ProjectGainsborough · 20/07/2013 21:31

Gracechurch street, London. 34b. Am 30dd, occasionally e.

Didn't realise Bravissimo were good. Will try there then, rather than wandering round M&S, muttering to myself like a crazy bra bag lady.

CelticPromise · 20/07/2013 21:42

MissStrawberry that's true in terms of cup volume roughly, but ignores the fact that most of the support needs to come from the band, so if you go up you lose that support.

Lioninthesun · 20/07/2013 21:44

Canterbury
Hastings
Guildford

It is the training clearly as all stores are the same.

Lioninthesun · 20/07/2013 21:46

Oh and the Canterbury lady told me I was 'a bit of a wonky donkey' and one was an A and one a B cup.
I am actually a 32D or 30DD Hmm
Refuse to go back after that little gem.

edam · 20/07/2013 21:52

They need to find out how Bravissimo train their staff and copy it. M&S bra fitting has always been wrong, the only reason people buy there is because they don't yet know how wrong M&S is. Marc Bolland needs to tell his bra fitters to ditch everything they (wrongly) think they know and start again.

extracrunchy · 20/07/2013 22:23

M&S Richmond didn't even measure across for cup size. Just back size and she guessed.

Earthworms · 20/07/2013 22:24

Hull

I can't remember the size, as I charity shopped the uncomfortable saggy fronted things.

extracrunchy · 20/07/2013 22:24

Last week!

ceeveebee · 20/07/2013 22:53

I was measures wrongly in Richmond about 12 months ago

Furball · 21/07/2013 07:44

They measure underbust and add 4 inches to get your band size. They then measure overbust and use the difference between that and your 'band size' to work out your cup size

where did this adding 4 inches come from? and why?

it doesn't seem logical at all, even though most have been taken in by it at some point, now we know whats right it just sounds wrong.

You wouldn't measure your waist and add 4 inches for a pair of jeans, they'd be massive
