...when encountering people who go: Oh I'm a 34A when they really are most probably not?

I am finding it hard to convince people out of believing their M & S sizes and refer them to the bra gurus fitting guide. But it's so deeply ingrained into common thinking that anything over a D is massive and that they MUST be a 34/36 frame even when they are blatantly smaller than me and I measure as a 32!

Try 42F and possibly 40FF/G too. Some of us with larger backs and/or more padding tend to find a smaller back provides the support we need for a larger cup as well.

Try 32G & FF and 34FF and F, given that you're in between band sizes the lower one is likely to be a better fit given modern stretch fabrics, so you'll need to try the bigger of the cup sizes too.

I got measured in mothercare for nursing bras and was given a 38b, Which even sounded wrong at the time but kind of fits ok. I just measured and I'm 32 under and 39 round boobs, what cup size should I buy? Exciting, bra shopping tomorrow I think!

I think my problem is that my boobs are quite flat on the top but the tissue spreads out to my underarms, IYSWIM statistically? Even with scooping an F cup is empty at the top. Difficult to explain! Maybe I'm the exception to the rule

Bookfairy that is more of a style issue. Some brands have wider wires than others, and some shapes are great for boobs which are emptier on top. You will probably find t shirt bras/moulded cups a bit of a nightmare but might get on much better with balconettes. Try a Cleo Juna, Curvy Kate tease me and others of those shape. Half cups may be good too

Also, if she's a 32DD, I'll eat my 32G bras!

i am appalled at how badly some people have been fitted. 38b for a 32f, 40dd for a 36j, just, just and always m&s, they should be ashamed.

I'm a 28g, and she looks smaller in the ribs and bigger in the bosoms than me.

I saw her at The Vitality Show and definitely is NOT the same frame size as me and I am a 32.

I can also confirm that she's much, much more orange than me.

I'd say if her boobs were natural she would probably be a 26 - because she has implants she might need a 28 (positioning is more upfront with implants) but dd....not a sodding chance. Maybe 28HH?

Statistically That is what I mean about porn thinking D is gigantic. Mind you, either she is lying about what size she asked her surgeon for, or he is also watching too much porn or using the M&S mannequins for their bra training courses as a guide?
Was interested to see the media ran a story on how not all porn stars were a D cup as assumed and wondered whether they had actually all been fitted with the correct bras!

I have just put in an order for several bras (34/36 gg/g) from brastop thanks to this thread. I've also staged a bra intervention with a friend who was earlier moaning about badly fitting bras.

Lion the surgeons issue is interesting - my friend had a reduction. She was properly fitted in a 30H, first surgeon she saw for consultation/approval (nhs) said her bra fitted well, could maybe have been a bit looser but with big boobs he could understand that looser would not have given support. surgeon who actually operated told her he'd achieve a C or D and reckoned he had done that. She was (as soon as swelling went down) a 30F/FF.

I know. Amusingly I showed it to DH, and he immediately says "no, just no way on earth is she either a 32 or a DD, is she mad?"
