santa that is so sweet that your DD started to cry! I bet she had the best time ever and now you can relax for another year. Wink

Poor DD's little body full of chicken pox and she had a bit of a difficult night. Not as bad as DS but she clearly is feeling under the weather. Sad

As I am not going out today (or maybe just for a walk) I am dressed for comfort. White Splendid tee, grey Splendid maxi tube skirt and Stella and Dot necklaces.

MrsRadicchio · 08/07/2013 07:51

Hello everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the lovely weather. Novice your party sounds great, liking the dancing to cheesy tunes!

Santa glad DD's birthday went well. It does seem stressful and I hate the thought that there are years of this ahead! We have avoided doing something for DS1 so far [bad parents emoticon] and this year we are hoping to just be able to do something low key in the park if the weather holds up.

Shop I am not sure about bank hol meet up as we will probably be visitng ILs. Should be able to make October though. Meant to say that I thought your Levis dress was a great colour on you - can see the benefits of getting colours done!

Although all was well with DH and the DC, DS2 would not go to sleep on Saturday night so I got my commupance. Marsha returning after bedtime sounds like a good plan.

shopafrolic · 08/07/2013 08:13

Thanks MrsR! Sorry you had a rough night - they know when we've had fun, I swear it! And thanks for the lovely compliment - I would never have worn that colour before so pleased I did it, but don't want to wear a mix of 5 colours head to toe (especially being an Autumn) - so I tend to keep colours close to my face and not worry too much after that....
Morning all! Amazing tennis yesterday (caught up last night) - so pleased for him, he's worked so hard for it.
Linus your dressed for comfort outfit sounds fabulous.
It's going to be a scorcher here again today so I'm back in my denim cutoffs with this tee and Havs.
Still smiling about the MU - you're such a lovely bunch!

It's already ridiculously hot here, I'm not even properly dressed yet and I'm roasting! Poor DD linus I hope she starts feeling better soon.

BrandyAlexander · 08/07/2013 08:23

Morning all! No hangover! No hangover!Shock God knows how, but hey, thank goodness for small mercies.

Thinking about the party making me all smiley. All my friends turning 40 this year has just been so fab and its just made us enjoying spending more time with each other. Also, we designed the house and garden to be at its best in the summer, either just relaxing or when entertaining but we hardly ever get the chance to enjoy it with the crappy weather. i also moan constantly about the cost of the gardener Blush but it felt so worth it yesterday as the garden looked glorious and was fun to see all the kids running around in it. My girlfriends were all wearing such pretty dresses as well. Smile

Today, it's back to see the bank manager after my bi-annual terror visit to the dentist. Think I will shorts again.

BrandyAlexander · 08/07/2013 08:31

Shop, I agree with Mrs R, that dress really looked terrific on you. I liked the bag and belt match too. I am also smiling about the MU too.

My two regrets of the MU were I didn't get to talk to either Sleep or Mrs R much as I was too busy gabbing to everyone else. Also didn't arrange late pass because of yesterday's party.

libertychick · 08/07/2013 09:19

Morning all!! Yay a week of good weather in store - just a slight pain trying to dress half appropriately at work...

Today I am wearing a black, zip front, v old (all my summer clothes are old) knee length Gap dress. Couple of silver bracelets and a watch but no necklace (unusual for me) as they look weird with the zip. Wearing v v comfy but entirely inappropriate rocketdog flip flops but have black ballet flats under the desk for slipping on as needed.

I am feeling a strong urge to buy a new dress!!! I will resist...had a look online last night but nothing grabbed me apart from the navy linen Monsoon one QueenC bought...actually it's all QueenC's fault that I am looking in the first place Grin

MarshaBrady · 08/07/2013 09:49

I know I didn't get to chat to MrsR and Sleep as much, next time!

I really enjoyed it. So much fun. And nice to get more of an idea about what everyone does etc

Everyone looked very pretty and stylish, next time I'm dressing up more! Will wear a dress.

I have good autumn dresses am very low on summer ones.

BrandyAlexander · 08/07/2013 10:03

I loved your t shirt. It was fab. So casually stylish. I don't think I would think of putting a t shirt and skirt together with heels. Given me food for thought!

This is the way to work.... Sat on our decking overlooking the gardenGrin

MarshaBrady · 08/07/2013 10:09

Ah thanks, I felt a bit scruffy but that's my default so am used to it. Grin

Ah this weather, all week!

santamarianovella · 08/07/2013 10:55

morning all!,
mrsR thanks,having a small birthday in the park was my first choice,im
doing it next year!
sorry to hear about your DD linus,i hope she is better soon,and as always sound super stylish!

marsha im sure you looked fab, i dont buy a lot of summer stuff either ,as the weather is so unpredictable,i prefer to splurge on WA stuff and transitional pieces like,light sweaters and jackets.

im still in my gym shorts and top,and have no intention of changing!

shopafrolic · 08/07/2013 11:06

Marsha you looked fab. I tried to roll my tee sleeves yesterday like you'd done but the fabric was thicker and the sleeves shorter so it wouldn't work. I'm such a saddo.
Sleep how do you do your eye make up? You had a great colour liner under your eye that made them pop - really stunning. Care to divulge?

Glad your dd had a good birthday Santa

And wasn't it Amber's dd's birthday too?

My boot search is finally over thank god you all say... she'll stop banging on about boots now
I did start looking for boots last Winter, so it's took a while...

These are lovely, irl they are a really soft suede, and are just like these Marant in colour... a lovely mid brown.
They look great with jeans and are just the right height for daytime.
So pleased!

So my shopping ban is in full effect.

If I come on here talking about pretty things, can someone please shout at me!

I've started juicing again today... having home made juice/smoothie for breakfast and lunch. With a healthy-ish meal at night.

I lost 1.5 stone last Spring doing it over about 3 months.
But then the stress of moving house, amongst other things put a stop to it.

I just need to start exercising now... Hmm

MarshaBrady · 08/07/2013 11:13

Lol Shop. Your dress is a perfect colour for you btw. Everyone looked great.

shopafrolic · 08/07/2013 11:13

mignonette · 08/07/2013 11:20

Hello everybody!

I have Pmed some of you but here is my news-

They are going to treat her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We sat on the plane in Germany waiting to disembark and unwilling to actually get off because we were so scared of what awaited us. At that point the plan was to take her off life support, give palliative care and let her drift away. Then a TM came through saying they had performed a last scan and it showed her brain damage was confined to less 'significant' areas of her brain. Since then baby has-

  1. fought ventilation and is down to a few breaths per min and due to be extubated tmrw;
  2. regained renal and hepatic function;
  3. Has normal newborn reflexes;
  4. Has no signs of weakness on either side and has good muscle tone;
  5. grimaces, tries to cry (two little teardrops) and jumps when she hears alarms go off;
  6. appears to like her tummy being kissed;
  7. receives Breastmilk via NG tube.

She has lost the oedema and is a tough little kid. We are cautiously happy. I did not dare hope any of this would happen let alone all of it. We have had tears from the doctors and neo nurses who are as shocked as we are but think putting her into a hypothermic state upon delivery reduced the catastrophic damage that was expected.

We do not know what her future holds but she now at least, has a chance of one.

Thank you all for your support and concern Flowers. It has helped. I sent you all a mental message of thanks as our plane flew over London on Friday which looked so beautiful in the sun but our hearts were so heavy. BA were lovely, comforting my sister who was tearful all the way there. I'm not sure when I am coming home and have taken extended leave of absence from work and I may not return as i do want to make some changes to my life in general and now seems lie a good time. I'll spend some time at our home in the East when I come home but for now am sitting on a terrace on a mountainside in the forest with Frankfurt in the distance. It is beautiful. And i love German prune jam!

My wish list clothing wise starts with the Prada/Miu Miu stripes. Love them. And I like the Jonathan Saunders wool bandeau dress in horizontal tobacco, indigo blue and white on page 71 0f this months Vogue,
the Carven sand yellow parka on page 94, those grey luxe track pants in leather I have seen somewhere, an ochre or brown flannel mid calf skirt, a kilt in tartan, stripe or leather panelling, a men's pin stripe shirt, wool pajama style loose pants in a tea towel stripe and a check wool coat. That is it so far but sure they'll be more....

I will read this new thread to comment on all your posts asap but so good to tell you our happy news..

shopafrolic · 08/07/2013 11:23

Mig as per our PM conversation I'm so happy to hear this. Life changes sound good - things like this make us realise what's important. Let us know when you're home and sending love and positive vibes

Annianni · 08/07/2013 11:36

That's brilliant news Mig, i'm so pleased for you all.
Finger's crossed.

And enjoy the jam. x

mignonette · 08/07/2013 11:46

I have a little video of her responding to us that I will try to PM and some pictures of her first cuddle with her parents. seeing what happens when she is off the ventilator is the next hurdle...

Glad you all had a great MU this weekend. Enjoying reading all about it....

LinusDKD · 08/07/2013 11:51

Oh that is such wonderful news mig! I have thought about you and your family a lot and I hope things will only get better from now on!

McNally · 08/07/2013 11:56

Oh mig, that's such fantastic news. I have my fingers and toes crossed that she continues to make good progress. What an amazing little fighter she must be. I am so pleased and have been thinking of you all.

OneLittleLady · 08/07/2013 12:07

Oh mig that's amazing news. Fingers crossed that she continues to progress. I will be thinking of you all

mignonette · 08/07/2013 12:45

They've just taken her off ventilation even though it was scheduled for tomorrow as I think I said earlier. She's tolerating nasal prongs so far. I am waiting to see her, the clinics all have wi fi here and there's even a gelateria and Italian restaurant on the university hospital campus so that helps.....Wink

I cannot keep up with all the changes and changed plans/outlooks etc. I had tried to prepare myself for the worst and I feel a little strange really-not numb but odd. The sunny weather seemed so inappropriate when we arrived full of despair and of course it has got hotter and hotter. We are quite high up so the house is lovely and cool but Frankfurt is terribly dusty and stuffy today because the hospital is half building site... The meals are also very bread and meat heavy with the other alternative being Pizza (!) which the Germans here seem crazy about. Have seen pizza delivery after delivery arrive on the wards. Am envying the staff their scrubs as I so hate the heat and never feel comfortable especially as I have hot flushes that are fierce. My Dr kept telling me I was imagining them as I am apparently 'too young' until he got the bloods back which confirmed it. I am nervous of HRT but will have to capitulate because these are unendurable.

What to wear? So am in a loose cotton tunic/shirt dress a bit like the Stella ones with orange/cream circles on them (that are way too expensive). It is cream with a plisse pleating around the edge of the hem and along the sides and has a pale orange panel swirling from the back to the front. A Henley collar opening to a deep V and that's all I can tolerate. Tan HasBeens in my feet and navy blue Espadrilles for inside the clinic to cut down on noise. Hair in a bun to keep my neck cool and no make up bar lipstick. Feel hot and yuck. I bought a Jo Malone pear cologne in the airport but now feel a bit meh about it. Not really me. Plan to investigate German pharmacy toiletries if I can find the time and energy to shop. So far i have only bought Pumpernickel bread, Ice cream (Amarula flavour and a Limoncello one) and some newspapers for a schoolteacher friend to use in her class. No clothing yet.

I walked the dog (an enormous hairy retriever) yesterday across the mountainside on a 'shortcut' to the bakers. Got dragged through probably tick filled meadows at a fast clip then had to drag self back up the slope home carrying enormous bag of bread and all hopes of the dog towing me home went out the window. I had to tow him....Brief thoughts of doing a Maria Von Trapp came into my head Grin until I realised that what goes down has to go back up again. I ruined my lovely flowery espadrilles and that's the second pair gone after the others went into pond ooze on my allotment. Good job they be cheap.

My SIl lent me a gorgeous pair of inky blue Linen PJ bottoms- trying to find a similar pair as no idea where she got them. They would be great worn as day wear as I see those loose linen pajama style pants are in this months Vogue and seem to be on the way back. I used to wear them in the early 90's with a tight T. Great slopping about wear.
