hello and welcome!

OP posts:
leobeebs · 20/06/2013 22:17

Thanks stats. Can see a huge bravissimo order coming on!!

Have you any ideas for a swimsuit? Must be a full cozzie going to centre parcs so needs to be functional but nice.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/06/2013 22:33

Gingerpinz, I would maybe try some of the Bravissimo branded bras, I like their lift and I don't get on with Panache.

Leobeebs - get to Brav for the swimsuit too - or brastop, figleaves etc. But get a cup sized one, it's worth it. I am quite hourglass so I have to adjust my size a bit as a 30 back swimsuit won't actually fit round my ass Blush but even going up a back and down a cup is still a million miles better than anything on the high st and you can take the back of the bra in if necessary. If you are more balanced than me this doesn't apply, but I have 30HHs and a size 14-16 hip!

gingerpinz · 20/06/2013 22:49

Thank you so much for your help! Flowers

Big Bravissimo order on the horizon here too!

leobeebs · 20/06/2013 23:12

We could be twins stats. You sound same size as me.

Thank you.

marriednotdead · 21/06/2013 07:04

Gingerpins
Hope I'm not too late. I'd suggest ordering Bravissimo Cherry Fling and Candy Bliss, in a 34K. They have quite deep cups and firm fabric so a good lift but are a little on the tight side by comparison hence the suggested size.

The Tango has quite a unique shape and lift, and sometimes it's the only bra that works, especially if your breasts are very heavy, soft or uneven in size.

gingerpinz · 21/06/2013 09:43

No, not too late married, thanks! Planning to do an order today and will get those two and maybe a couple of others to try too.

BlackAffronted · 21/06/2013 11:56

I measured at a 40k, so bought one online. It arrived and it is way too big - I could fit another boob in each cup! So I then bought a 40J, which is the next cup size down & I dont fit in it! Whats doing on? I am really skint and cant afford anymore bras now :( cant return these either.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/06/2013 14:56

most brands have a jj...which bra was it? I'd avoid non returnable until you have sussed your size tbh

OneMoreThenNoMore · 21/06/2013 15:56

Wow! Thanks for your advice. Flowers

After trying several different sizes I've settled on 34f. I just got a couple from Next to keep me going until I completely stop breastfeeding, when I will go mad at Bravissimo- I've seen loads that I like on that website! Grin

The central gore sits perfectly- I finally have two distinct boobs after 4 years of nursing bra monoboob hell! I am having some discomfort around the front of my ribcage, but I suspect that's due to the fact that I'm not used to wearing underwires anymore, or having a bra that fits correctly...

I can't believe the difference in my silhouette- I look like I have pert boobs and somehow my waistline looks better too. Amazing, thanks again!

sparkle12mar08 · 21/06/2013 17:46

Onemore - a good bra makes you look as if you've lost half a stone or more instantly Grin

thelittlestpickle · 21/06/2013 18:36

until recently i had no idea that breast placement could affect the size and style of bra you wear. i kept wearing bras that would end up rubbing or sagging and were generally pretty but also a bit useless and uncomfortable. i was passing a rigby & peller so popped in for a proper fitting (which was free) and found out so much about what styles you can and can't wear (or have to change your size in) because of my breast shape and placement and so far everything they told me (aside from the fact i was in totally the wrong size in the first place (38DD - should have been 36F) has proved true so far. like if your boobs are high up and close together, you need bras with a central gore that takes that into consideration so a plunge is often better etc. it's kind of obvious once they tell you but it had just never dawned on me before. really pleased i went in because since then i've looked at various lingerie blogs and picked up some great tips for making bras work for my shape (like adding a stitch to make wide apart central gores sit closer together).

thelittlestpickle · 21/06/2013 18:38

i meant 'as well as' not 'aside from' in my little rant above btw :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/06/2013 19:36

Breast placement makes a huge difference littlest. I have high up and very close set boobs and a huge number of bras just don't work. I'm in the awkward position where plunges can actually be tricky because the top of the gore digs in...they're that close the whole way down

You might want to experiment with Ewa Michalak - narrowest gores I have found by a long way, I have a few of the S/SM styles and they're great

CelticPromise · 21/06/2013 19:41

SC you're so right about the swimsuit thing. I ordered some to try and DH wanted to know why they were all bikinis? Er... cos if I order a one piece in a 30H I'll have to get one for each leg?? I find that tankinis always ride up too because my waist is high and relatively small. Lovely expanse of muffin top and belly on display! At least with a bikini I can buy bottoms that fit.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/06/2013 19:48

You sound like me Celtic - I don't look like a 30 anything! And my hips and thighs are really quite big. At the moment I have a speedo suit in a 34G, I don't swim that much and on the tightest hooks it's ok for the time it's on. Going to take the back in as it has a separate bra fastening inside.

I tried a 30 swimsuit - didn't get past my knees! Very funny though!

CelticPromise · 21/06/2013 20:08

Yes I have a Freya Active in 34G for actual swimming, which is fine, have just bought a bra sized bikini for holiday. I can't bear having my boobs unsupported in public!

thelittlestpickle · 21/06/2013 20:23

thanks statisticallychallenged! will definitely have a look.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/06/2013 20:36

I'm not sure my stomach will ever be allowed to see the light of day again - Thanks to my lovely DD I look like I had a fight with a very angry tiger!

gettingaway · 22/06/2013 14:35

Hi I need some help with getting a bra that fits well and looks nice too. I measured myself and my back is 32 and bust is 37. I had a fitting done at debenhams, and am wearing a 34C. It doesn't fit comfortably. Thanks for any help.

gingerpinz · 22/06/2013 15:06

Well, from what I gather gettingaway those measurements would make you more like a 32DD. Sure some of the bra gurus will be along soon with more advice but sounds like you are definitely in the wrong size so no wonder it isn't comfortable.

gettingaway · 22/06/2013 16:07

My bra straps keep falling off, it's very annoying.

EMUZ · 22/06/2013 16:16

Second the 32DD. Your bra straps are probably falling down as the back is too big

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/06/2013 16:36

Yup, 32DD and straps falling down is about 90% of the time down to the back being too big meaning strap positioning is wrong.

GoingVerySlowlyMad · 22/06/2013 16:40

For those of you that are trying out new sizes, Debenhams in-store have a further 20% off their sale prices. I got a Playtex bra for £5.80 and a Freya one for just under £7. They have loads of small back/big cup bras. I think the further 20% off is just for this weekend only.

gettingaway · 22/06/2013 17:30

Thanks everyone. Will go to town tmrw and try some new bras Thanks
