re man in skirt that is not the Hobbs! Grin

BrandyAlexander · 01/04/2013 15:52

I have had this amazing epiphany while tidying up in my dressing room. It's the coldest winter ever. It's been freezing cold for months. If it would have been appropriate and I haven't managed to wear it in the last 6 months I am not going to find another winter to wear it in am I? This is the origin of the v big sack I have just filled up for charity!

Also bagged up last of my post maternity wear - that's for the attic. Not psychologically ready yet to say that dc2 is the end!!

MarshaBrady · 01/04/2013 16:47

Novice we're clearly both on a roll! Grin

I also mused the other day that it is possible to need a coat for um 6 months, November to April. Argh that is not a good thought.

Meanwhile sister sent sunny 33 degree pictures from Perth where it's the opposite and good weather 9 months of year. Ah at least we have all those lovely London streets and nice countryside to make up for it.

I have a drawer where things go for a clothing purgatory. Neither in nor out. After a long, long time they go out. And always reluctantly, which is bonkers since they are not being used.

Hopefully · 01/04/2013 19:19

Right, I am attempting to catch back up and become a proper MN Voguer again. The Great 2013 Shopping Hiatus is (sort of) ending, as I finally have a (tiny) clothes budget again. I am attempting a bit of an ebay/charity shop kick for things like scarves and knitwear, but need to invest in some summer (hah) workwear. I have just placed an American Apparel order for some plain t-shirts, tube skirts etc, which will hopefully liven up the casual end of my life.

Liberty are you doing project 333? I have been so tempted, as been having a bit of a sort out of my wardrobe too.

Hopefully · 01/04/2013 19:21

Marsha I can't believe I have limped through this winter on the Toast felted biker I bought in November - I haven't been able to find an overcoat I liked that was in budget, so have been layering up big time on the thermals and base layers. It has been a good lesson in the benefits of layering (really haven't been that cold, on the whole), but next winter I will buy a decent coat - I am bored of being ridiculously hot in all my meetings thanks to an excess of thermal underwear!

MarshaBrady · 01/04/2013 19:27

Hopefully great to see you back! And the bravery of the Toast felted biker through out winter, am impressed. The one thing I remember about Boston when studying there during winter was how hot they made the rooms. Everyone stripped to tshirts.

And it's been cold this winter, so well done Grin

Hopefully · 01/04/2013 19:30

Not so much bravery as a complete lack of options!

Boston clearly the opposite of all hot countries - where they feel the need to use air con to make room temp about 6 degrees.

MarshaBrady · 01/04/2013 19:31

Yes and Sainsbury's always too cold there.

McNally · 01/04/2013 21:00

So glad you found your necklace novice!

Hi Hopefully. I think I tried on that Toast felted biker. T'was lovely but I rejected it for not being warm enough. I then spent the winter (and, it seems, will be spending spring) in a woefully inadequate black trench because I didn't find my dream coat. Need to realise that sometimes I should just buy things I like even if they're not totally perfect! Or invest. Given that it'll be well used for six months Sad, should probably splash out a bit on basis of good CPW!

Hope everyone has had a lovely long Easter weekend [busmile].

Hopefully · 01/04/2013 21:07

McNally I nearly didn't buy for the same reason, but thank god I did! Have just got used to thin layers underneath - a good reminder for me that I can normally make something work if I love it enoug!

AmberNectarine · 01/04/2013 21:13

Urgh, I need to get rid of my damn duvet coat - I am so bored of the bastard thing. I've given up on it now and am sporting an array of woefully inadequate jackets on a day to day basis (the neon parka and the jersey biker being popular).

Can't wait to dress the way I keep wittering on about on my blog 'with just a simple white tank and metallic sandals...'

McNally · 01/04/2013 21:15

Yes, wish I'd bought it Hopefully. Also a trench just looks a bit odd with a big woolly scarf so I didn't even add warmth that way! Was hoping to get a winter coat in the sales but didn't find anyhing I fancied then either.

libertychick · 01/04/2013 21:15

Really pleased you found your necklace novice - spring cleaning vibe all round it seems - I haven't made it to the kitchen yet - will have to wait to next weekend now to copy Marsha and clean kitchen jars!

Great you are back Hopefully. Project 333 is causing me much angst and making me feel a bit silly for thinking about clothes so much Smile I am going to do it and have set myself a target of next weekend to finalise the list - will only commit to one month to start though. But the process of choosing the 33 is good, making me reassess lots of items and realise that I tend to wear the same outfits all the time instead of wearing what I have in different ways.

McNally · 01/04/2013 21:17

I am dreaming about "just a simple white tank and metallic sandals" too Amber. Am soooooooo fed up with my winter wardrobe. When will winter end?!

QueenCadbury · 01/04/2013 21:19

marsha I love putting the mr men books in order. I can spend hours wuite happily doing that Grin

hopefully good to see you back on here. Not long now till I come to you. So excited!!

I'm very glad I have my north face coat but I'm sooo bored of it now and ready to wear my spring jackets (especially [[
pinterest.com/pin/427349452110745090/ this]] that I love and bought in the Christmas sales but haven't worn yet.

I've had a good Easter but have eaten far too much in the last 10 days since the kids finished school and have consequently put on 4lbs ( I put on weight quickly but luckily lose in fairly quickly too). It may not sound a huge amount but it all goes in the same place on my tummy and so all my jeans are feeling tight. Not good.

libertychick · 01/04/2013 21:27

Fed up of winter clothes here too - had a conversation with a work colleague the other day on 'will we, won't we' buy new opaque tights?! Both of us had holes in toes etc but couldn't bear the idea of restocking opaques in April! However we concluded it had to be done....

MarshaBrady · 01/04/2013 21:29

haha love the enjoyment of Mr Men ordering and jar cleaning! Grin

Today there was sunshine, it must be changing soon it must! I would just like to wear ballet flats without freezing my feet and a jumper and jacket. NO coat and scarf.

Hopefully · 01/04/2013 21:32

Yay Queen, I'm so excited about meeting you!

Liberty maybe you'll give me the final push to do project 333 as well Smile

God, I'm so bloated, have just polished off Easter pigging out with a massive batch of homemade toffee popcorn. Yummy, but big time back on the wagon tomorrow.

libertychick · 01/04/2013 22:12

For Grumpy in case you are still looking for one I ordered this black bum covering top for £25 from Atterley Road last night.

A [bublush] shopping session - stuff I don't need and on reflection doesn't fill the gaps I have identified in my wardrobe. Going to call them tomorrow and ask if I can cancel the other items and just get the black top.

libertychick · 01/04/2013 22:36

And for the record my genuine gaps are for the following:

Black or charcoal biker (will probably get for my 40th)
dove grey marl sweater and T-shirt
navy and white stripe breton
something emerald green i.e. scarf, T or cotton cardi
snakeskin flats
snakeskin belt
navy silky short sleeved top with white or yellow or green polka dots
a leather tote bag in grey/oyster/navy big enough to hold A4 files (not £££)
aviator sunnies
Nike new balance trainers in navy or grey

All of the above would actually help me make outfits with what I have already - if it's not apparent I am actually p**sing myself off with my ongoing failure to just acquire the above and instead keep ordering things like this dress instead which is lovely and would suit me but doesn't really give me new options!

libertychick · 01/04/2013 22:37

It has helped to get that off my chest - night all!

QueenCadbury · 02/04/2013 08:09

Does anyone else browse online and think 'so and so would like that'. Just been browsing here and thought ofbfoxy and the yellow tops. Are you even still looking for a yellow top??

QueenCadbury · 02/04/2013 08:11

liberty lovely dress.

BrandyAlexander · 02/04/2013 08:54

ShockShockShockShock. I am on train. Rushed out of house this morning as filming an interview at 9am. I have just looked down and am wearing dh's coat. I am 5'2". Dh is just under 6'. It's freezing cold, he will kill me! Under the ill fitting coat I am wearing belted red dress from Austin reed, pigalles and prada bag. Pity about coat!!!!
