Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

Thanks! I'm pregnant, growing like nuts and my favourite Shock Absorber Run does not come in my current size any more, so will give Freya a try.

AgathaF · 22/02/2013 11:22

Hazle I ordered some sports bras last night from bra stop. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow, so I can let you know how the sizing comes up then.

SorrelForbes · 22/02/2013 11:25

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

In that case Hazle, I would be sorely tempted to go up 2 back sizes. The freya has I think 4 or 5 back positions and the 32 I have to wear on the loosest and it's still tight. I could easily buy a 34 and wear it on one of the tighter settings. Given that your ribcage is likely to expand through pregnancy it may be worth getting the bigger one.

CelticPromise · 22/02/2013 12:09

Does anyone else find the Freya active just doesn't cut it for high impact activity? Perhaps my boobs are excessively bouncy Smile I used to swear by Enell but now wear the Panache, which gives good support and looks good ( Enell is not about the looks!) Now it's only Zumba that moves them. Panache bra is also padded so good for contact sports.

Celtic how's the sizing? I've tried the panache on, but the shop only had limited sizes and I couldn't find the right one. I'm 6 months and still doing a lot of sports, so need some serious support.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/02/2013 12:42

That's right heyho.

juneybean · 22/02/2013 12:44

Help...! Lost a bit of weight over the past few months but am still in my old bras, wearing a 38F today but it's a plunge so I often fall out of it.

Underbust: 34in
Over: 43in

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/02/2013 12:47

Start by trying a 34F, but read the info that is on about post 15 of this thread which tells you what to look for in a bra too.

What I find heyho, is that despite the thoroughly unattractive look you get when measuring leaning forward, for me it actually matches what I measure in a really good, uplifting (non padded) bra.

juneybean · 22/02/2013 12:55

Thank you Stat

WithASpider · 22/02/2013 13:16

This is my current favourite bra.
I really struggle with underwires as i have quite wide boobs, and Curvy Kate fit like a dream! Gives me an absolutely fantastic shape too. I'm a 38G (measured by the previous threads) after spending years wearing a 40-42 DD.

CelticPromise · 22/02/2013 13:24

Hazle I have it in a 32G which is more or less my regular size. The only other Panache bra I have is a Tango plunge in a 32H though. Am a bit all over the place at the moment- lost a stone then got pregnant so I'm wearing several different sizes! I also have an old Panache sports bra in 34G, which is too big of course but they can be made more supportive by doing up the racer back clips.

JeffFaFa · 22/02/2013 13:26

I ordered a few bras from very last night one of which arrived today in a 30E panache tango or something its TERRIBLE the back too tight to breath the cups do nothing at all i look like a 90 year old in it, so thats packed up to return, hope i have better luck with the cleo juna if not i'll not be buying from very again :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/02/2013 13:29

JeffFaFa, I have tried and hated that bra too. It's a common one for shops to have in bigger sizes but it is awful on me. The cups are the wrong shape for my breasts, and the back is mega tight

OneLittleLady · 22/02/2013 13:34

I think, only think mind you, that I have found my size/brand/style. Went trying stuff on and the best fitting and most comfortable I have found is the Curvy Kate balcony/balconette styles in a 36E. I looked like a loon in the changing room doing various movements and stretches to test them out but they seem to be the ones.

KhloeRye · 22/02/2013 13:46

I am measured as a 28D yet i cannot find a 28D anywhere - any suggestions xThanks

JeffFaFa · 22/02/2013 13:47

So glad you said that SC i ripped it off feeling like some sort of deformed freak, which is how ive felt about myself since post dc's everytime ive tried bras on in the past ive ended up crying, apart from the 30DD i just bought from debenhams, i sooooo wish they did that style in a bigger cup :(

ComeAlongPond · 22/02/2013 13:53

I'm a 28D/28DD too Khloe. It can be hard to find anything nice - most start at a DD, or are 'first bras'. But Brastop usually have some, if you search by size, and I've found some of the Debenhams ones come up small in the back.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/02/2013 14:06

Which one did you get in Debenhams Jeff?

Can you describe what was wrong with the cups on the Panache? Try to look at it on and work out whether the wires are too wide, too narrow, too deep etc? or are they too far apart in the middle, that kind of thing. On me, the wires on Panache are the wrong shape. They are quite U-Shaped, and for my boobs are too narrow and deep. Freya are more of a wide, flatter U i think.

JeffFaFa · 22/02/2013 14:12

There debenhams ones - www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_152010560460_-1

perfect other than cup too small so bulging

The Panache cups were not what i expected sort of like netting, they didnt do anything at all no shape all gaping all over the cup, no lift just sort of like draping netting over my boobs - horrible.

SorrelForbes · 22/02/2013 14:19

JeffFaFa I'm another one who hated the Panache Tango. I tried it in a range of sizes and nothing fitted. I love the Juna. It's a completely different shape to the Panache.

GinAndSlimlinePlease · 22/02/2013 14:21

thanks Grin
