I know bummer Sad

Welcome Carrie and Foxy.
Shop high fives on the breton! And thanks for the ebay feedback - I have decided I'll have a go at setting up this weekend.
Fab outfit Topaz. I posted the jacket back today after several more 'will I, won't I' twirls in front of the mirror, I would love to keep it but as DD is only 2 it would potentially sit in the wardrobe for 15 years Smile
Great links! The Chloe knit is particularly tempting.

Question for Novice - I have been admiring your work wear on pininterest - how is the sizing in Austin Reed? I need some basics like black/charcoal pencil skirt and same in trousers. I am basically a 12 but can veer towards a 14 bottom half and 10 top half depending on the brand.

libertychick · 19/02/2013 21:26

Also tempted by pink MIH - 30 is my size, would possibly work with navy or grey sweater and my bright pink superga....not sure my thighs are up to pale pink though....

MarshaBrady · 19/02/2013 21:29

Would look lovely with navy or grey.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2013 21:42

My question this evening...... What would you wear with these?
pinterest.com/pin/122230577358725741/
Would grey go? I really like them, they've got zips at the ankle and it's nice to wear something other than jeans but I'm jus trying to figure out how to style them.......
Also, can anyone explain layering to me? I have no clue wear to start - does the under layer have to stick out below the over layer?
Sorry.....random......

Where! Not wear!

Oh cripes does this include knowing about colours and stuff. I'd probably go for cream knit. Is that bonkers.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2013 21:54

Nothing to do with colours. Just curious. If you owned a pair of khaki houlihan type trousers what would you wear them with? Just looking for inspiration.......

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 19/02/2013 21:55

I'd wear off-white or cream sweater with similar underneath.

carrie74 · 19/02/2013 21:59

I'd probably wear slouchy grey jumper/sweatshirt: definitely something slouchy. Cream could definitely work too.

WRT layers, I like to have a longer layer poking out the bottom (thank you Baukjen extra long Ts), I'm always a bit wary of potential camel toe issues with skinnies Blush.

carrie74 · 19/02/2013 21:59

Actually all neutrals would go, I think: black, nude as well.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2013 22:00

Scoots off to look at Baukjen tees. carrie do you layer in similar colours, darker on top or underneath........? Questions, questions.

AmberNectarine · 19/02/2013 22:01

I have khaki houlihans, I wear them with neon orange/yellow in direct contravention of the HoC rules, because I'm norty.

libertychick · 19/02/2013 22:04

Shop looking at your SS13 board I think what you already have would work with them, such as this top or your A&W blouse. For layering I often do a long sleeve T under a 3/4 length sleeve in either a contrasting colour or a stripe. Or have vest straps in contrasting colour showing under a boat or slash neck and/or the bottom of the vest showing out as well.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2013 22:04

I think I might be about to rebel on my colour rules........ There's no doubt there are lots of colours in my 'palette' that work really well on me, but I need to mix it up a bit. And I can't give up black...... Or grey tees and sweatshirts.......
Getting my colours done means I wear loads of colours. Never would have tried before, but I ain't go head to toe.......
Do you layer things up Amber?

carrie74 · 19/02/2013 22:05

shop, I have Baukjen Ts in black, white and khaki, so they pretty much go with everything. But I suppose I would tend to black with darker colours, white with lighter, khaki for a contrast.

I think that khaki can carry off loads of colours, it's almost a neutral itself, but you need to own it IYSWIM? I don't know if I could, so it'd be neutrals for me.

QueenCadbury · 19/02/2013 22:06

Difficult to tell on the exact colour but if they're khaki-ish then I'd peronally go for navy, black or grey. But then again, I pair navy, black or grey with everything Grin. Do a Pinterest search on khaki trousers and see what inspiration it comes up with.

I can't do layers very well but I tend to have my bottom layer (usually just a vest) sticking out from the top layer. But that's because I have along body and most tops are too short so a vest underneath makes them look better.

AmberNectarine · 19/02/2013 22:09

If by layer you mean wear a cheap H&M vest under everything to preserve my modesty when breastfeeding, then yes. If you mean wearing several tops in graduated lengths and tonal colours, then no. I'm more of a chuck it on and go girl. I've never been totally convinced layering works on me anyway, but it looks fab on most.

MarshaBrady · 19/02/2013 22:12

I don't really do longer things or do I. I might have a bit of tshirt in tangerine under apricot sweater as for today eg.

But not long layers, never over la bottom.

Neon sounds good too. Think you could do anything with that colour.

BrandyAlexander · 19/02/2013 22:13

Hi Liberty, I am an in between size, 6/8 and so get the 8 which is a good fit without being baggy (a lot of times I can look like I have just crapped my pantsGrin). So if you're bang on 12 then I would go for a 12 I think you're tall but I am petite and their size 8 petite is a perfect fit for me so they must cut slightly too small in petite.

libertychick · 19/02/2013 22:19

Thanks Novice. Grin at crapped pants look - find it hard to believe, you sound very professional looking at work. I am just about 5ft 6 so tend to be standard leg length etc.

shopafrolic · 19/02/2013 22:19

Lack of Pinspiration on khaki houlihans / trousers. Lots of grey tees, not much else so thanks all for the ideas and the layering tips. My layering at the moment is as simple as vest top under, sweatshirt or knit purely for warmth not style! Must try harder.
